"Recalcitrant, severe unilateral maxillary sinusitis. 3 surgeries, 2+ years on various antibiotics. At 3rd surgery (Gleneagles, Singapore) pathogens were multidrug-resistant pseudomonas aer., multidrug-resistant klebsiella pneu., and aspergillus. Following 3rd surgery medical team chose Primaxin IM (under diff. name in Singapore then) as it was promising in lab cultures. Plus oral itraconazole and hydrocortisone. After 3 years of nightmare existence, my sinusitis resolved. Thank god for second- and third-line antibiotics. Let's not abuse them, or use them in a cavalier manner. We need to maintain their effectiveness on difficult bacteria."
