"I used this religiously as directed for 6 months, with no result. I have only small fungus at the outer edges of the 2 large toenails. The fungus has not spread, but has not reduced either. Will be trying something else."

"It seems to work, but it’s essential to not miss a dose, or the fungus will grow back resistant to the medication. I remove the fungus 99%, and then forget to dose, and then it comes back. This is bad... I need to make sure it’s gone. I dose, it’s gone, and gone continue dosing. Nail grows back. One of my nails grew back, but still sort of gets fungus that is easily removable. The other nail still needs to be cut back to remove areas where the fungus is winning. It goes away, but the fungus still appears and goes away with the application, but it needs to get knocked out really good, not temporarily, which means to constantly apply the medication and try other things as well..."

"Had 2 fully infected nails right down to the base. Thick, crumbly, and gross. One other nail about 30% infected. Tried loads of other meds, either nail polishes, oral tablets (tablets worked, but then fungus grew straight back when I stopped taking them), all the home remedies you can think of! Nothing worked for years. Have been using ciclopirox for nearly a year now and I agree with others, it does work!! You have to be very diligent with filing and using nail polish remover (I do both every day). The other thing I did initially was combine with urea cream. This helped soften up the nails to the point where they fell off right down to the base...I had to do 2 rounds of this until it really started to get noticeably better, but I think the second time I was more diligent with filing. Partially infected nail improved really quickly, by the way."

"I had only a little nail fungus on the tips of my big toenails. I used Penlac exactly as instructed. After weeks, my nails became brittle, and the fungus had spread throughout the entire two large toenails. This nail lacquer I would never recommend to anyone! Since using it, I have struggled with bad toenails on both big toes."

"I've been using this medicine on my big toenail for a year now. My toenail had come apart from the bed about halfway up. I cut that off. It is adhering now but looks like the toenail is growing a bit sideways. Seems like I'm going to be using this for yet another year. I have much more nail to grow, but I'm not sure it has done much for the thickness. I filed it down and continue to keep it filed."

"Went to a foot doctor to have my large toenail on the left foot removed. Well, that didn't happen. The doctor said to use ciclopirox first. The doctor explained to me that the fungus had separated the nail from my toe down a wide section in the middle of my toe... The doctor removed only that section by cutting it out with clippers. What a mess, but no pain due to the nail not being connected to the toe anymore. The doctor said it would be a 50/50 chance I could salvage this nail. Well, it's been 5 months and it's looking great. I dremeled the nail the first time before using ciclopirox and file every weekend. Apply ciclopirox every morning... Been told to be careful not to breathe any of the filing dust or touch anything till you wash your hands (fungus). I use cheap filing sticks that I throw away after each use. It works very well!!!"

"Within 8 months approximately, I experienced burning at the tips along with thickening and dryness of the skin above where the nail ends. The nails separated from the nail bed with open bloody skin exposed. In addition, the nails are all deformed including ingrown and much worsening of two big toe ingrown nails. My feet ache along with my right leg. My fingernails have improved some. For now, I will discontinue the nail lacquer."

Ciclopirox topical "It literally worked overnight! I painted it on my toes, and then the next day, I was able to slide a file under my ingrown toenail and get it out! Works great and fast!"

"I used ciclopirox regularly, at first every day then I would forget every now and again. I only filed down 2-3 times. Removed with alcohol once. My toenail got white patches and felt weird. Today, about 4-6 months in, my toenail just fell off!! It felt weird but was movable, and I lifted it right off. Looks like fungus is still at the base where it started. Not as bad though. On the nail, it looked like it was growing out, but the base was white and cloudy. I don't know if filing once a week would have stopped this? I will try putting lacquer on what is left of the nail bed."
