For Bladder Infection "I was prescribed Keflex 500 mg dose 4 times a day for a bladder infection. I’m sensitive to medicine, but this seems to be the one that I’m not as bad with compared to others. I’m on my 4th day, and I feel like it’s helping the symptoms of my UTI. I also have E. coli in my urine, so it treats both. At first, I felt so nasty, sluggish, depressed, like I felt like I had the flu or just was really sick. Now, in my 4th day, I’m still tired. I also had the feeling of nausea that is starting to go away. I feel like even if it gives you tiredness and some side effects, just ride it out. It’s hard to do, I feel like 7 days is just too long to take 4 times a day for an antibiotic, but try to stick it out and see if the side effects start to fade as you take it more. I would rather take this instead of something that makes me have heart palpitations. Everything has a side effect, so if you can bear it, just try to push through it. Good luck to everyone, hope I can finish mine."

For Kidney Infections "I am on day 2 of Keflex for a kidney infection from an untreated urinary tract infection. I am allergic to most antibiotics, such as amoxicillin and erythromycin, so I was hesitant to try this. I am so happy to say I have no allergic reaction and no diarrhea! I do feel some tingling sensations in my head and a tiny bit of anxiety (probably all in my head), but nothing compared to an antibiotic like Levaquin. I think I found my new go-to antibiotic!"

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was on cephalexin for a cyst, a dose of 500 mg, taking it 2 times a day, morning and night for 7 days. I haven't had any problems. I haven't drank coffee or alcohol. I drink tons of water and Gatorade. It helps."

Cephalexin for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Being a person with cancer in remission and following health problems - COPD, bronchiectasis, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, chronic sinus and ear infection, odd UTI at odd times. I passed out during the night and woke up on the floor and could not get up off the floor or walk - not COVID. After roughly four to five trips by ambulance to the hospital and various drug treatments with relapses now and again, my GP put me on a low dose of 250 mg Keflex to take one tablet every night, and since that day, I have never had to go back to the hospital or have not passed out again. So possibly I may now be helped with bacterial infections, and I can only speak of my personal experience, but for me, this is a wonder drug. I do realize that bacteria become immune to antibiotics, but as far as I know, I have had no adverse side effects. Antibiotics have come a long way since I was a child. My age is now seventy-nine years of age. I do not have diabetes or heart problems, mainly lung problems, and do not smoke."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I had so many problems and my doctor didn't know what was wrong with me until I went to the Philippines and the doctor prescribed cephalexin. All the problems I had seem to have disappeared. I wish I had gotten that medicine before. I feel great."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I had a small but very painful boil, and the Dr. gave me cephalexin. It worked really well and cleared it within a couple of days, but the side effects were terrible. I had bad gas and cramps along with diarrhea."

For Bacterial Infection "I went to the ER 5 weeks after giving birth because my husband thought I had an infection. Everything was fine, but the ER doctor gave me this cephalexin to 'get ahead' of my 'infection.' I have to take it for 10 days, twice a day. I got side effects of vaginal and anal itching and vaginal discharge. It has been a month, and no doctor can help me. I feel like dying. At night time, I can feel that something is poking my genital area like needles. I can't take care of my newborn properly because I'm so tired. This medicine doesn't let me sleep. I CURSE THIS MEDICINE! I feel like I'm being tortured. The itch is the worst. The surface of my vagina is swelling. I'm crying at night. I don't know what to do anymore. I went to my OB doctor, and he just gave me a steroid cream. It helped with swelling but made my skin super thin, it hurts. I used an over-the-counter cream, it helps for a few minutes. I'm taking Benadryl. I took 2 packs of Benadryl already. I'm trying to find an allergist that can help me."

Cephalexin for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I fell off my longboard and made some bad dressing decisions. After 3 days, I saw a doctor who prescribed this and silver sulfadiazine. After 10 days, it completely healed. Unfortunately, I have had another tumble, this time with a broken wrist and 10 open wounds. On it again. Trusting old Keflex to help again."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I had cellulitis on my lower leg. I was prescribed Cephalexin 250 mg tabs four times a day for 10 days. I saw mild relief at the end of day 2, and by day 5, the infection was on its way down (less swollen, less hot, less sensitive). I continued the medication through day 10, and it did not return. I did not have any headaches, swollen joints, etc., that others reported. I am allergic to penicillin but do not have cross-sensitivity to cephalosporins."

For Bacterial Infection "I was going through severe anxiety, heart palpitations, tachycardia, body numbness, going in and out of another world. I had new allergies, twitching when I would almost fall asleep, 21 ER visits later, I found the answer. The antibiotic I was on for a tooth infection caused severe ulcers throughout my GI tract, it can cause all of that. I almost had a couple of heart attacks before I realized this. Here is what my treatment consists of: beta blockers to control the heart palpitations (you need them or it will get bad), Ativan to control the anxiety (this too will get worse), steroids to fix your mental state, reduce intestinal swelling, and get your immune system back on track so your allergies stop (this too will get worse), and a PPI pill to stop the stomach acid so they can heal. Also, I'm waiting for a scope treatment from a gastro doctor. I'm hoping I can make it until then, but for anybody else experiencing what I did, please get it addressed ASAP, I was told by every doctor it was anxiety and even banned from an ER."

For Bacterial Infection "I am currently using this medication to fight a staph infection. I'm not sure how I got it, but it seemed to start from a bug bite of some sort. The infection was the size of a golf ball and had lightning streaks running up my arm. The doctor had to cut open my arm and clean out the pus. Well, it's been about a week, and the infection has cleared up. Cephalexin seemed to work very well. I have no side effects, and I'm feeling great."

For Bladder Infection "Started Keflex oral 10 ml 3x per day for 7 days. On day 3 now and almost symptom-free! So far no side effects - hope it stays that way! If you can't swallow pills like me or if pills don't agree with you, try the liquid. Mine is flavored!"

Cephalexin for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I have suffered with ulcers on my ankles (poor circulation) for years. Every once in a while, one if not both will get infected. Legs swell, and skin turns purple, as well as becoming very sensitive. The ulcers feel as though hot pins are being shoved into them. Keflex always knocks out the infection within a few days."

For Kidney Infections "I got put on cephalexin for an untreated UTI, which obviously spread to my kidneys. I am currently on day 3, and I do feel so much better kidney pain and urinating wise. But it gives me insane diarrhea, makes me feel very nauseous, makes me confused with really bad anxiety, and gives me killer heartburn. I am currently on 500 mg, 4 times a day."

For Bladder Infection "On my 4th day of cephalexin for a bladder infection and pee smelling worse than before meds, and peeing so much. I have 4 more days left, taking 3x a day, so hopefully it clears up. Been battling a bladder infection for 2 years. This is the 3rd antibiotic I've been put on by 4 different doctors. Everyone seems to not know what to do. Very stressful and not sleeping anymore because of constantly getting up for the bathroom. Help me."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I had a staph infection in my nose, so my doctor put me on a week of cephalexin, 500 mg 3x daily. I was worried about GI side effects but was absolutely fine. The only side effects I noticed were very, very minimal fatigue and the slightest headache that was barely noticeable. I also took a once-daily probiotic with my dose in the evening just for peace of mind."

For Bacterial Infection "I had a hair follicle infection on the top of my head, and the bump from it being infected got to be the size of a ping-pong ball, and so they put me on 500 mg of Keflex 4 times a day. It took 4 days for the medicine to take effect, and it totally wiped the infection away. At first, I didn't think it was going to work, I had pus and blood coming out of that thing. It was totally gross, and this drug is a miracle drug. If you think about it, a hundred years ago, people would die from stuff like that."

Cephalexin for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I had a tooth that broke off while eating pretzels. Well, as time goes by, no real problems with it, however, it made the tooth next to it get loose and agitated. It becomes an infection. I get put on Keflex 500 mg three times a day for seven days for the infection. I have taken this medication before. After two days, the infection starts to go away, and my mouth feels better. I’m not in pain anymore, however, the night terrors, hallucinations, and anxiety. The night terrors are morbid, they are something out of the 'Saw' movies! If you have any mental disorders or any small underlying ones, I recommend you do not take this medication, because it will make you crazy!"

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I have chronic allergies and sinus problems. I am usually put on Levaquin, but it hasn’t seemed to work anymore after the past few years. My ENT's always like to tell me, “It’s just inflammation” - when I am 60 years old and I know that sometimes it IS an infection. Anyway, 2 weeks ago I went to an urgent care and was seen by a kindly, older, very intelligent doctor. He mentioned Keflex, and I thought, “Oh yeah, I took that 8 years ago when my first sinus infection happened and it really worked. The experienced doctor gave this, and it was AMAZING. I felt much better after the first day. I can’t believe how the so-called experts don’t think this works. I had NO side effects, but I take probiotics every day no matter what. So happy that this doctor rediscovered this medicine for me!"

Cephalexin for Bladder Infection "I have been going back and forth battling a UTI for about a year. I take D-Mannose, which usually knocks it out in a day or so, but the D-Mannose has been giving me weird pains in my carotids. Anyway, I decided to go get a script after waking up with severe bladder pain a few days ago. About six hours after the first dose, the pain subsided. This medication will make you nauseated if you don't take it with at least 6 oz of water and a snack. No negative side effects yet! Love Keflex!"

Cephalexin for Middle Ear Infections "I have allergies to a lot of antibiotics, and the ones I can take, I have horrible side effects. Keflex is the only one I'm not allergic to, and no bad side effects. It works. I had a sinus infection with an ear infection, and even though it isn't typically used for sinus infections, it always clears it up. I also had a double ear infection. All better. Recommended to those sensitive to meds."

For Bacterial Infection "I'm currently on my 5th day of cephalexin 500 mg 4X a day. I have an abscess from shaving with a dull razor and not using shaving gel, that's what I'm thinking anyway. Anyway, this antibiotic is really messing me up. I'm anxious, paranoid around people, super irritable, I feel scared in general. My stomach is distended and I'm constipated and retaining water. I want to stop, but I'm scared to. I'm going to call my doctor. Thanks everyone for posting about your experience. Helping me a lot."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Cephalexin got rid of the infection, but I had horrible side effects. I took it for 4 days, at a dose of 500 mg, 4 times a day. I had horrible headaches, diarrhea, major depression, dry and bloodshot eyes, nausea, was very tired, and didn't have motivation to do anything. Anxiety, joints were on fire! Stopped a day ago and still feel awful! Won't take it again because of side effects."
