For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I have been administering my cefazolin to treat a bacterial infection (MSSA) via a PICC line for 3 weeks. I have to administer it 3 times a day, which is a pain, but I am glad to be at home and not stuck in the hospital. I've not had any side effects. My blood work is showing that it is getting rid of the bacteria and that after another week I will be cleared to go off of this medication."

For Bacterial Infection "Bacterial infection following a total hip replacement. Cefazolin was delivered bagged through a CADD Legacy Plus pump. The medicine was well accepted with no major side effects. I was also given an oral medicine daily cocktail to prevent bacteria spreading and manage pain and side effects."

For Bone infection "I had a PICC (IV route) and self-administered cefazolin for 8 weeks. My dosage was 6 gm, 480 mL infused continuously over a 24-hour period. I would occasionally have an upset stomach from being slightly sensitive to dairy, which is my fault, not the medication. I followed the recommendation (from every source I read) to NOT use products to ease diarrhea. Personally, I tend to have allergic reactions to many things across the board: medication, soaps, and detergents. Most typical were skin reactions such as rashes. Antibiotics tend to cause stomach problems. I had essentially no issues with cefazolin. The only thing I experienced was smelly urine (which is common). I’m pretty impressed with this medicine, especially for it being an antibiotic!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was admitted to the ER with a fever of 103.4 and violent chills. It was a reaction to this, cefazolin: extreme pain all over my body, burning eyes, itching feet. Switched to Zocyn. I will never take it again."

For Bacterial Endocarditis Prevention "On Wednesday, June 28, I had a surgical procedure where 'CEFAZOLIN' was administered via IV. My reaction was 'curse, swear, curse LOUDER' as it felt like FIRE coursing through my veins! I also didn't know that taking the prescription for 'CEPHALEXIN/750 mg 2x/day' for a 5-day course would result in a HORRIBLE RASH - left arm/right arm/all across my upper back... I DIDN'T THINK this would happen since I had been on [Cephalexin; similar drug @ a lower dose] a few years ago. I believe it 'could have been the IV ADMINISTRATION' of the [related] CEFAZOLIN. I am EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE dealing with this 'ALLERGIC RASH REACTION' that came on within 24 hrs of finishing the course, (Not Uncommon.) That's my review. EVERYTHING isn't FOR EVERYONE."
