Soma (carisoprodol) "I have used Soma for 2 years, and it really helps me. I have nothing bad to report about it. I do not feel addicted and only use it as needed, but it certainly relieves my neck and lower back pain to the point where I can at least work. I have no hallucinogenic effects with it and don't feel sleepy with it either. It's just a great drug."

Soma (carisoprodol) "It's a wonderful medicine for my spasms. The back spasms do not stop for me unless I use Soma. They are the only muscle relaxers that work for me. I tried 4 or 5 different kinds, and none of those worked for me. I would recommend them."

Soma (carisoprodol) "I have used Soma (carisoprodol) for 6 years, and it is definitely a great help for my fibromyalgia muscle spasm pain. Also for the muscle spasm pain from degenerative disc disease with a bulging disc in my neck, which is inoperable at this time. Best of all, the muscle relaxers out there, and I have tried almost all of them."

"Morons who come here warning 'Beware or you'll OD if you take with benzos' is why we reliable, zero issue, chronic pain patients can't get our required med dosage! Because you're an irresponsible idiot who keeps taking too many drugs repeatedly and OD'ing, don't give meds a bad rap! Ask someone to please help dispense your meds! I take 3 mg Xanax, 4-30 mg oxycodone split every 4 hrs. & 3 Soma daily. (Was on 4 recommended dose & just cut back, thanks to abusers!) Now suffering through the night, as they last just 3 hours! Prescribed Buspar for sleep, but it doesn't equal 1 extra Soma I had. ONLY muscle relaxer that relieves 6 herniated discs, sciatica, osteoarthritis, and migraines. I've been on meds 30 years with no issues! People like this guy we can thank for harsher guidelines and our never-ending suffering. Unfairly stereotyped due to loser stupidity! So take your warnings elsewhere before you ruin it for the rest of us old folks who just want to sleep and function pain-free until we die!"

Soma (carisoprodol) "I am glad that it has helped so many people. When I was 12, doctors gave it to my grandmother, who was raising me, and a few months later, my grandfather died and she was very depressed. I guess when I was at school, she started taking her medicines like crazy, and after that, she never stopped. I am 25 now and she is finally off Soma. She was very addicted for the past 11 years and I must say I am happy to have my grandmother back to normal. Glad everyone takes this medication as directed. Don't ever attempt to take more than directed."

Soma (carisoprodol) "I have recently started having back pain, and my doctor started me on Soma. I have been pain-free ever since. It really does take the pain away, and fast. Just do not drive on it. It relaxes your muscles, and you can easily lose focus."

Soma (carisoprodol) "I have a few degenerated disks and fibromyalgia. These two conditions tend to amplify each other, causing extreme back pain. Some antidepressants/anti-anxiety meds will address fibromyalgia, but they only work 24/7; the inherent sedation is not a wonderful way to go through life. With Soma, I can take care of this later in the day, and because it amplifies opiates, I am able to take Tramadol instead of Percocet. Be careful with that interaction, as it is surprisingly powerful. Be careful of using any other drugs as well while on Soma. Although it is mildly euphoric, I have not detected any physical or psychological addiction. Also, you may find Soma 'vacations' to increase its effectiveness during long-term use."

Soma (carisoprodol) "This is the best muscle relaxer I have taken. I have a hairline fracture at the top of my tibia. This released my knee overnight. It was locked! I take Klonopin, so the sedation dizzy feeling was mild. However, I didn't mix, I skipped Soma if anxiety was present."

Soma (carisoprodol) "I take Soma as an adjunct therapy to pain medications for fibromyalgia. I'm 34 now - but have been prescribed Soma off and on for six years. As others have also posted, I too was prescribed Flexeril, Robaxin, Zanaflex, Skelexin, Parafon Forte, etc. Most of those were marginally helpful, if at all. Soma is the only muscle relaxant medicine that actually works. Not only does it truly 'relax' the tension and knots in my muscles, but it can throw the brakes on a tension headache, work as a sleep aid, and lower the need for opioids with very few side effects. I would recommend this medicine to anyone. Cheers."

"My review here is basically the same as everyone else's. I recently moved from MI to TN, and that's when I found out how hard it is to get. I went to several different MDs and was told nobody prescribes that. Finally, I tried Tizanidine, very bad knockout side effect. Moved back to MI and got back on soma, what a relief, it works, the only thing that ever has. I don't need or want opiates, and I, like the rest of you, cannot understand the reasoning behind the FDA rulings."

Soma (carisoprodol) "This is the only medication strong enough to help with my severe muscle spasms. Why would they take it off the market? I have had 1 neck and 2 back surgeries, and they all failed. I NEED this medication."

Soma (carisoprodol) "Ever since an accident 2 years ago, I've had horrible muscle spasms and pain in my back and shoulders that plague me almost 24 hours a day. Flexeril made me so groggy and drowsy during the day that I couldn't take it. My doctor has now prescribed Soma, and I feel relief without the marked drowsiness I had with other muscle relaxants, even with taking it 3 times a day."

"Been on Soma for 5 years. I have had 7 Spinal Sugeries/6 Levels Fused. Wonder drug! Best drug ever, however, there are many brands out there that do not work for me. Teva, who bought Watson, is the only brand that works for me. Having major issues getting them. Wondering if Northstar has worked for anyone???"

Soma (carisoprodol) "I have used a generic version of Soma as needed for muscle pain, as I have fibromyalgia for 12 years now. Tried 5 different muscle relaxers before I found Soma. It is definitely the best with the fewest side effects. Yesterday, my insurance company informed me they will no longer pay for it. I will buy it myself. It is worth it."

Soma (carisoprodol) "My doctor cut me off of Soma after taking it for over 14 years with her. She said she doesn't feel comfortable prescribing it anymore due to "abuse potential". I have multiple conditions that cause severe, life-long extreme chronic pain. Soma was one of the most-effective medications I ever took. I don't know why she said the whole, "Addictive" part to me? I get drug tested by this same doctor every appointment, and have never (ever) had anything come back positive that I wasn't prescribed. Lastly, to disprove the whole withdrawal symptom thing - At least for me, after years of taking it, I have gone on and off of it before and up/down dosages to try and see if I could hold out taking less medication (No, I do not like taking a bunch of medicine all day long, but it is the *only* thing that makes me able to get out of bed and do anything except lay in bed, tortured all day/night)."

"It helped me a great deal, and when I switched doctors, nobody will prescribe it. I've taken it for 17 years without a problem with it, and I was just abruptly taken off of it, and these doctors don't want to prescribe it because of its reputation. People like me that need it are the ones that suffer."

"Soma (Carisprodal) is best for muscle spasm anywhere in my body. I had 2 fusion surgeries about 5 years ago, plate in neck, artificial hip and severe osteo arthritis and fibromyalgia. I am now 60 years old and doctor won't prescribe the amount of soma that is needed. She always wants to trade off my anxiety meds (Xanax) for the 3 tabs I need daily. She now has changed the mg dose of soma and only gives me 250 mgs monthly. I'm scared for all of us that need the good old fashioned meds. They work. The drug companies are too busy pushing new medication that in years from now who knows what damage they will cause our younger generation."

"Soma is an excellent and efficient medication for muscle spasms. The only issue I've ever seen or know about from other people is it's HIGHLY addictive, especially to people who have addiction problems. Unfortunately, half of the addicts in the town I live in abuse them, which punishes those of us who actually need it for legitimate medical problems."

Soma (carisoprodol) "I have been on Soma for 10 years for fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease. It is by far the best muscle relaxer that I know of for this type of chronic pain. My insurance company will not pay for it any longer. They recommend Zanaflex, Skelaxin. These are very expensive medicines, running $450-550/month. Soma costs me $30 without insurance for a month's supply. I take it 4 times a day when I need to. It is important to take it as instructed and not to take more than your doctor prescribed. It gives you a better quality of life without pain. If you need to discontinue, do it gradually."

Soma (carisoprodol) "I have chronic back, neck, leg and coccyx pain. Soma like any medication or narcotic works or helps everyone differently. Soma helps to desensitize my pain, helps my cramps and insomnia. I’ve been clean and sober 16 yrs and now a substance abuse counselor. Years ago I was not prescribed any medication for my mental Heath disorders and chronic pain so I got it from friends, family and the streets. The stigma of my past was a red flag for most doctors to prescribe narcotics even though I was a candidate for them so I did what I needed to do. I was never trying to get high, just take the pain away and sleep. 20 years later after getting clean doctors started to earn my trust because I was honest, educated and in legit pain. Soma is the only muscle relaxer that helps, even better than pain meds at times. Take as prescribed and be educated about the risks of dependence and abuse of prescribed meds. Be true to self and your doctors. Good luck and God Bless you all of you who need help."

Soma (carisoprodol) "It's the best muscle relaxer I've used so far. I have fibromyalgia, and I take it with Vicodin and get enough relief to get by. I still have to have steroid injections, go to a chiropractor, and have trigger point injections. Fibromyalgia drugs don't work at all for me, which is a bummer!"

"My dentist gave me this 29 years ago for temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ) after I had cracked 4 teeth, had to get crowns, and my jaw joints were deteriorating, and my ears were ringing from swollen joints. It worked wonderfully! I know it saved me from further damage to my teeth and jaws. My regular doctor agreed to give it to me because my insurance would not cover dentist prescriptions. A few years ago, he suddenly said he would no longer give it to anyone, so I had to get it from the dentist again. Doctors are constantly being scared by the FDA and DEA because of the jerks that abuse drugs. I've only ever taken one 350 mg tablet at night and will never be a drug abuser, but they have all been scared and want to give you other drugs that don't work. Let docs do their job!"

"I am a 39-year-old female. I have had 2 back surgeries with metal plates and 6 screws. I also have degenerative disc disease, chronic pain syndrome, and lumbar stenosis. I have been on Soma 350 mg, Percocet 10, and morphine 60 mg for about 3 years. I have tried all other muscle relaxers with no relief, this is the cure. It helps so greatly. Recommend this greatly. I take 4 per day along with all my other medications. I can't make it through the day without it. This helps me get through the day."

Soma (carisoprodol) "Was on Soma for over three years. 250 mg, 3 times a day. After my eyesight was affected, my eye doctor suggested that I stop the Soma. I talked with my MD, who agreed. Was very shocked to find that after 24 hours of stopping the medication, I went into a full migraine headache, extreme sweating, extreme pain. I was hurting everywhere. Then vomiting started. This continued for days! Please, if you are on this medication for any length of time, slowly get off it. No one should go through what I went through. Finally got the doctor to prescribe a few more pills to slowly get off this medication. READ before stopping any medication! It worked great while taking it."
