Cafergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "I've had almost daily migraines for a quarter century. I am almost seventy and they are finally starting to taper off some. At one time or another most every possible preventative and treatment in the book -- and a couple outside of it -- were prescribed. I tried a lot of other stuff on my own. The most consistently effective treatment was cafergot. I'd say it worked at least 90% of the time. The few times it didn't, neither did anything else."

Migergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "This is the only medicine that works for my wife. She has tried all of the other migraine type medicines, and none of them work. Years ago she started taking Cafergot, then it was taken off the market and she was hardly able to function. Then after Migergot was available her Doctor prescribed that, and she was like a new person. When Migergot was not available for a few months in 2012 she was miserable again, so we were most thankful when it once again became available. She does not have side effects from it, is able to function normally, and goes to the YMCA almost every day and is able to participate in Yoga, Pilates, strength training, hiking, biking and traveling at age 83. Migergot has been a God Send for her."

Cafergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "Many years ago I had severe migraines. My kids had to stay quiet, I darkened the room, etc. My doctor prescribed Cafergot. Then, when I had the preliminary aura, I took a Cafergot, and presto, no headache! For two years or more, I kept Cafergot handy, and it prevented my headaches nearly every time. The frequency of headaches tapered off, and after about three years, NO MORE HEADACHES! I call it a miracle drug."

Cafergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "I took Cafergot for years with good results. At the hint of a migraine the pill would stop symptom within 30 minutes. It allowed me to live a normal life. When they took it off the market I was devastated. Fortunately I had stockpiled enough to last a year. By the time they brought it back on the market, AT AN OBSCENE PRICE, I had discovered compounding pharmacies. They make it up for me at a fraction of the price and their formula does not keep me awake so I can take it at night. Also helpful, lots of water and ginger tea, or the herbal supplement. (I won’t take the drug from the drug company as I’m protesting the price gouging.)"

Cafergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "I have suffered from migraines for 30 years. Was prescribed several types of medicines but as I was being violently sick with the migraines I couldn't keep anything down therefore nothing got a chance to work. I was then prescribed Cafergot suppositories and I then got my life back. They almost always work and quickly too. It seems that they are not as well known as other migraine medicines and my pharmacy does not keep a stock as I am the only customer they have that requires them. Sometimes they struggle to get them in stock for me so I have to take my prescription in plenty of time. I would be devastated if they were took off the market as they are the only thing I can take that really does work."

Cafergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "This is the only medicine that has ever stopped my migraines. I can't take the newer medications because they cause my blood pressure to spike. I never had any side effects with Cafergot and it worked."

"I've been suffering from acute migraines and headaches, every kind. I relied heavily on insane doses on pain relievers until I discovered Cafergot. It works like a miracle for me. and now I have found the generic version Caffox which is available at a fraction of the price. Works just as good. Hope this info helps someone."

Migergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "I get migraine and mixed variant headaches. I spent 18 years at a local head pain and neurological institute. I had many tests and participated in research trial drugs. Cafergot was the only thing that worked for me after many different medicines and combinations of medicines. Then Cafergot was taken off the market because it was too expensive. Migergot works but the base they use was not as effective as Cafergot and caused abdominal swelling and bloating for me. I have IBS-C so Migergot irritated that. I can't live without Migergot, It was taken off the market in December of 2011 and I hear won't be back until May."

Cafergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "I have had migraines for years now (about 8). At first I didn't take anything special other than Advil. After a while my migraines got worse and I had to get something else. My doctor told me to try Cafergot. It did help a lot on the pain of the migraine but I still had to lay down in a dark room, face in a pillow, and a trash can ready since migraines make me feel nauseous. After about 3 hours I was able to get out of bed but was really exhausted. Cafergot did help with the headache and I think it would have been better if I had an anti-nausea medicine from keeping myself to throw up. "

Migergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "I can no longer get Cafergot since they stopped making it. Migergot is just as good, but is so expensive in the U.S. I need it very much and I take it with Phenegran so it does not make me sick. Half in the morning and half in the evening. This prevents most of my migraines with the exception of wind migraines which nothing can help for those kind. I hope that Cafergot will be made again or Migergot was cheaper."

Migergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "I used to take Cafergot, then after they stopped making it, I found Migergot. I am so thankful for it as it is the only medicine that lets me live a normal life. It has been a God-Send. Tablets or sprays just don't work for me, so I am very dependent on Migergot Suppositories."

Cafergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "I have suffered from migraines for 35 years and have tried absolutely everything for them. Between my preventatives and abortives, I've been on over 75 different medications.. Cafergot is the ONLY medication outside of a Demerol injection at the emergency room that eliminates my migraines--even a level 10. However, I do experience extreme nausea from it--on top of the nausea from my migraine attack. Because of the level of nausea I often will not take it until my migraine is a level 9 or higher."

Cafergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "I have had migraine for over 8 years and I’m still battling. I use cafergot and just like all other drug, side effects are present but it varies. My own case with cafergot is that it worsens my headache at times and other times it cures it within minutes, it reduces my appetite drastically but apparently you’re to have had a full meal before using, sometimes I throw up after I use it and sometimes I feel better but other times it gets worse, My visual coordination most times after using the drug reduces as everything becomes a tad blurry but only for a while. I have pains in my stomach sometimes too after taking on empty stomach."

Cafergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "I had severe migraines from age 16 to 65. When taking cafergot, I discovered (after many years) that if you take an antihistamine WITH the cafergot, it then worked for me. What a difference ! Having said that, there are so many new drugs now - the one that eliminated the migraine within an hour for me was Zomig. Zomig was like a miracle for me. Easy to take anywhere - place under your tongue - no side effects."

"I also take cafergot but it was taken off the market here too in Australia, but a compound pharmacy will make it up. I've found that it works well, I've tried the newer drugs but cafergot, with stemetll for nausea and phenergan works. It does knock me out but I used to have to go to hospital and be put on a drip for up to a week at a time. My insurance used to cover the cost but now it's been taken off the government pharmaceutical scheme I have to pay full price of about $70 for 60 tablets."

"In my teens I suffered migraines quite frequently, but took no medication. Now they come on once or twice a year. I experience visual distortions before the onset of a migraine, and experience nausea and sometimes vomit during a migraine, which lasts a few hours. If I take a couple of Cafergot tablets during the visual distortion stage it is usually prevents the migraine. Once the headache sets in taking any medication is ineffective. I discovered Cafergot when I spoke to a pharmacist years ago here in Thailand, where it is available over the counter, without a prescription."

"After 40 years of heavy use of this drug my mother passed away recently for aorta dissecation aaa stanford type a , having a post mortem saying that her aorta was all calcified, she used this active principle as it was the only one she said was helping her to get relief. My recommendation to you all is to have your arterys checked and use this active principle as little as possible"

Cafergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "Normal pain tablets make headaches worse. Cafergot works 99% of time if taken early. Some joint pain after but that may be due to headache. Please keep it on market."

Cafergot (caffeine / ergotamine) "66 yrs old. I had used Cafergot for my migraines from mid 1980's till it was discontinued in 2011. My pharmacist told me about Migergot, which is the same thing in a suppository form. I have tried every migraine prevention & abortive drug known to man. I take a Migergot right when I feel a migraine coming on. The last several years, I have cut the suppository in half & store the other half in a ziploc bag & put it in the fridge. 1/2 supp aborts the migraine within an hour or less. Migergot is the only drug out there that aborts my migraines before they become full-blown. My migraines are "Vascular Migraines". I depend on Migergot, because the caffiene & ergot constricts my blood vessels, which aborts my migraine quickly. For me, it is better to take a Migergot with a slightly empty stomach. If I have a full stomach, I tend to get very nauseated & Migergot won't fully abort the migraine. I've been taking Migergot for 39 years & I have had no bad side effects. Thank you Cafergot & Migergot companies. You have literally saved my life"
