BuSpar (buspirone) "I struggle from PTSD, Panic Disorder, and Bipolar 1 Disorder. I am on Prozac and Zyprexa for my other disorders but continued to have panic attacks. I started BuSpar about a week ago and so far I do have daily anxiety but haven't had a panic attack since the second day I was on it. I understand it takes time to build in my system so I'm excited to continue taking it in hopes it'll continue to improve my quality of life. I highly recommend it, my doctor put me on 10mg 3x a day."

BuSpar (buspirone) "This medicine is a waste of time ... to be honest or might be a placebo because it doesn't work !!!! The first time I took it , I made myself believe it worked but it doesn't .... I'm going back on my old combo Klonipin and seroquel.... Can't deal with this anymore longer !!!!! Save your time , energy , and extra anxiety "

"I have chronic PTSD, panic disorder, depression, and had been taking 80 mg of Prozac, 1 mg of Xanax, 30 mg of Temazepam at night. Just recently I changed Psychiatrists and was taken off of Xanax and put on Buspirone 15 mg two times a day. When I tell you that my life has changed for the better.... it is an understatement. I used to think I was living life when I got put on all my psych meds till I got on buspirone, now I am truly living and loving life to its fullest. I wake up and look forward to waking up and living, it is truly a blessing. My triggers are managed now, I do not have panic or anxiety attacks that lead me to depression and sheltering myself, now I am able to refocus and process my feelings and emotions and thoughts. Buspirone is AMAZING!! I would highly, highly suggest for a new protocol that requires every patient be put on Buspirone before being placed on Xanax - this is how much I love this new medication... TRY IT IT IS A LIFE CHANGER!!"

"Garbage! The worst medication ever, doesn’t work at all gives me migraines, restlessness, trouble staying asleep, my glands are swollen and hurting. Shaking as well wouldn’t recommend this for anyone seriously take anything but this garbage. I was taking klonapin 1 mg extended release for decades and never had any issues and slept amazing. I’ve been taking buspirone 15 mg twice a day for about 45 days and I really want to stop taking buspirone and go back to Klonapin because this is making me go crazy worrying a lot and the panic attacks are high. I believe these doctors are creating mental health issues by switching our meds, so be careful. Definitely going back to klonapin 1 mg 2 a day…hopefully today I can switch back to klonapin because honestly, it is hard to live this way and the sad part is, the therapist doesn’t even care. Also I haven’t slept in 2 days"

BuSpar (buspirone) "BuSpar is a bit of a mixed experience for me. I always get a rapid pulse, restless and sometimes sweaty for about an hour after each dose, but it is effective the rest of the day at minimizing my panic and anxiety without resorting to benzodiazepines."

"First off I don't even know how this is legal and its a full blown lie that this drug is known to not have its "side effects". I took this drug for three days 5mg twice a day and could NOT handle the side effects. Every time I took it suicidal idealizations came about. I could barely walk on it nor keep my head up. The headaches or brain zaps were ridiculous, I finally called my doctor on the third day and asked him on what to do and they told me to stop IMMEDIATELY. Holy cow the day the evening that I stopped it was the WORST experience that I have ever had. I was only on this drug for THREE days and the withdrawal symptoms were brutal as well. Its been three days since I stopped and I still feel the aftermath. It left me worst than before."

"Buspirone has worked miracles for me and I did not expect it to work. Multiple doctors have tried SSRIs for my anxiety multiple times and SSRIs have never, ever worked for me. The only thing that has worked were benzos, and we all know that doctors treat you like an addict if you try to take benzos without the SSRIs. I am so glad my current doctor tried this for me instead of trying to shove more SSRI's down my throat. On this medication I am more confident, have been able to enjoy situations that would have given me panic attacks a month ago, and I worry less as a result. My doctor explained this med by saying that it increases serotonin. If you have low serotonin, SSRIs won't help. In that case Buspirone can help."

"This medicine is useless. I suffer from extremely bad panic attacks an have been in and out the hospital everyday for 3 days. This medicine made everything worse. I'd wake up multi times if I could even go back to sleep to go back to the ER at 2am. I don't know if it's a real medicine or a water/sugar pill, but it doesn't work for panic attacks. They say you can force your self to believe a medicine can work or not work, not in this case it DOESNT work. Benzodiazepines may me abused an bad for you, but it's better then asking someone who is suffering like us to use medicine that don't work at all for most people."

BuSpar (buspirone) "Doc gave me this in addition to Ativan for panic attacks. Did NOTHING for my panic attacks! Still felt tense in class and wanted to run out of the classroom on a daily basis. When told to increase my dose, the drug increased my anxiety. Although it didn't do anything for my panic attacks, it sure lifted my depression."

"I am 40 years old, and went through a divorce a couple years ago. Soon after I started getting severe panic attacks. I went to the hospital twice thinking they were heart attack. The doctors informed me it was panic attacks and then I should take something for them. Well I try to be a tough guy and just deal with it but after the attack increased and became for frequent I gave in. Doctor prescribed Buspirone. Initially I didn't think it worked but it turns out it takes a couple weeks to get into your system.. The big surprise was the increased sexual drive. The doctor did not inform me of that part. I started to think there was something wrong with me then did research and found out it was a side effect. A very pleasant one. Long story short is my panic attacks are under control and my girlfriend is happy :-)"

"I've been on Prozac and Buspar for 3 months. I was terrified to start, awful spaced out feeling, not high just foggy minded. Now I feel great, have my moments but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel."

"I had a hard time when I started this buspirone medication. The first three weeks were really difficult and I felt like it was making me worse. I am glad I stuck with it. I have been taking it seven weeks now. My current dose is 5mg three times a day. I still have some anxiety but I can cope with it better. I haven’t had a panic attack in three weeks. I hope the panic attacks stay away. I did have a lot of dizziness in the beginning and brain fog but it went away. Give it a try."

"Everytime I take my buspar my heart feels like it's pounding out of my chest for like an hour (eventually gradually it goes away) and my chest gets tight, I just started taking it 2-3 weeks ago and this just chest pounding thing only started happening about 7 days ago, it's starting to freak me out to the point where I might just stop taking it all together. Am I the only one who feels like my heart beats a million times a second on this drug? & what else is out there to help specific anxiety disorders?"

"I was prescribed Buspirone which is the Generic for Buspar and I do not recommend this "medication" for anyone with Panic Disorder. Because of Buspirone side affects such as increased heart beat in which increased my anxiety significantly. And the dulling of my senses just made things worse. Please do your research of you are debating starting Buspirone. I didn't and paid the price. One dose was enough suffering for me. "

BuSpar (buspirone) "15mg twice a day, have been on this medication for about 3 years. I do agree that it does work for the anxiety, but the side effects for me are personally not worth it. I started seeing shadows, had really bad anger outbursts, and really bad heart problems. Not to mention the brain fog whenever I would take a dosage. It was just too much to handle. Probably one of the worst meds I've ever taken."

BuSpar (buspirone) "Wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy. Just wanted to share that I had the worst panic attacks of my life on this medicine. I would shake uncontrollably at random times, get extremely dizzy, and feel brain zaps throughout the day. I was on 5 mg and this medicine had this much effect on me. Make me extremely depressed and my doctor didn’t even know it was the medicine that was causing this side effects. Please be careful when taking this medicine it can be very dangerous"

BuSpar (buspirone) "Buspar is a complete waste of time. I took it for 3 months on all different sorts of doses, 5mg-15mg and it did NOTHING to help my anxiety/panic. Complete placebo pill. What it did give me was, tremors, dizzyness, noise sensitivity, disassociation and made me angry BEYOND belief. Waste of time. If you do want to try to try it, take it 2-3 hours before you actually have to go to work or accomplish something, bc it makes you feel like rubbish for that long after you take your dose. Might have worked for some people, but def didn't for me."

"I had tried about 20 different psychiatric medications before Buspar, all of which were at best minimally effective. Buspar has been the one medicine that has made a positive change. I feel alive again. I am not in such a dark place anymore, and my panic has gotten better. Although I still have a bit of anxiety it feels much more manageable. And I have only had to take 5mg twice daily! It has given me a little bit of insomnia, but it is well worth it."

"Was prescribed this medication by the VA. I was on it for over a year. It made me feel dizzy, and nauseated the entire time. The worst part of this was trying to get off of it. The withdrawal was severe, despite being tapered off of it. My brain felt like it was being electrocuted, I would get intermittent zaps for about 3 weeks after stopping the medication. My heart would race, I experienced sweating, couldn't sleep and had terrible nightmares."

BuSpar (buspirone) "My panic disorder started very gradually. At first it was a slight panic that lasted for a min or two when I was driving, then it slowly intruded into my life. At some worst points I was unable to sleep for a week. I might be able to doze off for an hour or two, and then I'd wake up with a racing heart. Buspar helped at first, I was only on 5mg for five months, never went up in dose. After about 5 months, stressful events like job interviews pretty much made this med ineffective for me. I really liked this med as it had no side effects for me. No dizziness or nausea or "brain zaps". My doctor put me on Paxil instead. Just started it, but it seems to be working. My pulse is still about 20 beats above my normal rate, but it doesn't bother me."

"I'm convinced I must be taking a placebo. Maybe the doc and the pharmacist secretly communicate to dispense a placebo rather than real medication. I started with 5mg twice a day, next appointment it was upped to 3x daily, appointment after that 10mg 3x daily (the max) and STILL have severe attacks and ongoing GAD symptoms. To be fair, I usually remember to take once or twice daily, even at that dose I expect notable improvement, but no. I have to dig deep for a possible compliment for it...maybe fewer overwhelming attacks. I can't complain about any side effects, there's nothing. I must be taking sugar pills! Dr's are too terrified to prescribe the proper EFFECTIVE meds for patients in desperate need for them because abusers out there."

"My husband has been take this drug for 20 years it is the only one that helped him with generaIized anxiety, and panic attack. Now I hear it is being discontinued, or they have stop making this drug till feb. How can a drug company do this when people have depended on this for years. Not sure what they are going to replace it with, but it scares me and upsets me very much. He started taking this drug after 15 years of trying to get the right balance with all his other drugs, this drug was the only one that helped regulate him. Now what..."

BuSpar (buspirone) "Drug is prescribed for 18-64 age bracket. Seniors experience drugs differently just like Teens. I tried Buspar to replace Xanax. Buspar builds in the system. 1st month I noticed a slight calm effect. My NP was getting me off another SSRI also not good for Seniors. During the last 2 weeks, I have noticed shortness of breath which has increased. That increased my anxiety and hyperventilation. I know it is early but I already feel better this evening not having taken my three 5 mg doses. Xanax has a 6 hour shelf life and works better for me and I have learned to regulate the doses. Will wean off on the 2.5 half tabs of Buspar. My system is just like it used to be."

"This medication saved me! I was having daily panic attacks that were very physical and completely out of nowhere. I would think I was not getting a full breath. I would think that my chest was tightening and my body would go numb. My mind would become fuzzy and I would be paralyzed with fear. It happened during my classes, in movies, when I was out to eat, and I started feeling bad that those around me had to deal with me. Eventually, I just knew that it was a panic attack and I would and cry until it passed everyday in the nurses office at school. This was 5 years ago and I have been on buspar ever since! I have not had ONE bad panic attack in 5 years.. I would advise taking before bed, it makes you feel weird and tired like dead weight"
