BuSpar (buspirone) "After trying to treat my anxiety and panic attacks for years with SSRIs and benzodiazepines, this finally works. I take 3 x 5 mg and started to experience a significant decrease in anxiety and compulsive thoughts, after only 4 days. So far I am happy with BuSpar. No side effects whatsoever."

BuSpar (buspirone) "After having tried Ativan and Vistaril, I asked my family doctor for BuSpar for acute anxiety. I also take Zoloft. I love BuSpar. It's not habit-forming, and I feel like I have my life back! It's my miracle."

BuSpar (buspirone) "Buspar is one of the most dangerous drugs to ever be prescribed. This drug caused my body to lock up. It made me grind my teeth. It's like I was outside of my body doing weird things. I am still recovering from the residual effects, which include involuntary moments, repetitive moves, extrapyramidal moments, and fluid to the brain. Beware."

BuSpar (buspirone) "This replaced benzodiazepines and sleeping pills, gives better rest, improved sex drive, decidedly improved social life. I'm 46m, prescribed 15mg x2 daily. Others noted the improvements first. I had no untoward side effects other than dry mouth and a few lingering panic attacks per month easily handled by low dose Xanax 0.5 mg. Various SSRIs along the way didn't help with depression this much. 5 years running. It works well."

"I was very scared to try buspirone for anxiety because of the bad reviews, BUT trust me when I say this medication has helped me a lot. I went from having panic attacks and anxiety every day to living a normal life. I went from 5 mg twice a day to 15 mg twice a day. I went from quitting my job and having debilitating anxiety to getting back to a normal life. I wasn’t able to go to stores or even drive, and I’m now able to."

BuSpar (buspirone) "In a nutshell, even though I did not want this drug to work because I hate taking medicine, it really does help me! I refuse to take benzos. My therapist talked me into trying BuSpar. It made me really tired at first. But honestly, now that I look back, I think it did that because it seemed to slow my racing mind down. So naturally, once I relaxed a bit more, my body finally could rest. My anxiety is not gone. But when I am in a place where I feel safe, I am able to relax and my mind isn't so noisy. It is a strange, new feeling."

BuSpar (buspirone) "Doctor prescribed this BuSpar to me for my anxiety. I got which worsened with Wellbutrin XL (I take that for depression). I used to take Xanax but decided to discontinue the use of it. My doctor prescribed me this and told me to take it when needed or every day, whichever I prefer. I have zero complaints about this medication. When I first took it, I got super dizzy and light-headed. But other than that, it does calm me and make me feel much better."

BuSpar (buspirone) "Had a really bad existential crisis that lead to a severe panic attack and landed me in the hospital. I was prescribed 15mg daily of Buspar. Upon leaving the hospital before taking my first dose the panic had subsided already and I felt perfectly fine but decided I should take the medication anyhow to prevent another attack. This made my anxiety fifty times worse. I would wake up five times a night in an absolute panic, I couldn't leave the house at all for three weeks. It sent my mind into my a spiral of overthinking which caused crazy anxiety and depersonalization. I would finally calm myself down only to be unable to remember what I thought to calm myself down and re-panic. I legit felt like I was losing my mind. If you want to know what hell feels like then take buspirone."

BuSpar (buspirone) "I've got generalized anxiety disorder. BuSpar turns off the worrying like a switch. The only downside was the first dose, 15mg was too much. I had weird side effects, if I looked at a light source, I'd feel unspeakably strange pulses of something that felt like electricity go through my body. I also got motion sick and vomited after the first dose. Luckily, this only happened once. After reducing the dose to 5mg (q.i.d.), I had no more side effects. My advice to the uninitiated would be to start with a small dose and titrate upwards to avoid any surprises."

BuSpar (buspirone) "I wouldn’t say this medicine is horrible, but it didn’t help me. I feel like this is for people with very mild anxiety. My anxiety is very high, so it only helped a little. It made me dizzy and gave me a headache. I tried it for 8 days and stopped. I’m now on Zoloft 25mg and really liking it so far."

BuSpar (buspirone) "Started taking BuSpar 15mg twice a day about a month ago, and I will be honest, at first, I hated it! I almost quit taking it! The first week, it seemed as if it was making my anxiety worse. My chest was pounding, and I could not sleep at all! I decided to stick with it, and I'm glad I did because all of that is gone now. I mainly had issues with social phobia, and I have noticed I am getting better in social situations. The only thing is every now and then I feel a little dizzy for about 20 minutes after taking it, but that's it! It doesn't take anxiety away, but helps you deal with it and better rationalize things."

BuSpar (buspirone) "I have been on BuSpar now for 4 years, 7.5mg 3x per day. It took a couple weeks to see any effects at first. I have also been on Zoloft for about 20 years, and I think that BuSpar works very well with Zoloft."

BuSpar (buspirone) "My son is in high school and has taken this for 7 months. It changed his life. His anxiety over school was out of control to the point he had to be integrated back into school. He tried Ativan and had horrible side effects, and he was reluctant to try anything else after that. After about 3 months on the BuSpar, he walks tall into school. No more looking over his shoulder or panic attacks out of nowhere. We wish he would've taken this years ago. The only side effect he complains of is tiredness and occasional headache. The tiredness was more so in the beginning. Those side effects are minuscule compared to his anxiety before taking BuSpar."

BuSpar (buspirone) "I started taking BuSpar with Prozac, and it’s the perfect combination!!! I got lucky and was able to feel relief from BuSpar when my nurse practitioner prescribed it to me. Both Prozac and BuSpar changed my life and make me feel so much better from the awful depression and anxiety! I was in such a dark place, but now I feel a lot better!"

BuSpar (buspirone) "BuSpar has changed my life in profound ways. In combination with antidepressants, it has made a huge difference for me. Before BuSpar, I was debilitated by Social Anxiety Disorder. Avoidance, panic attacks, isolation... etc. Without BuSpar, I felt like my whole body was raw all of the time. I started taking BuSpar about 3.5 years ago, and the first thing I noticed was sleepiness. But other than that, no side effects. It took a while to start working, but when it did, I was finally able to feel relaxed in public. The biggest thing is that it sedates the body. It makes me less reactive and slows down my mind. I can see how for some, this can produce a sluggish feeling, but it's exactly what I needed. The sleepiness is not a huge issue anymore. Oh, and I take BuSpar 15 mg three times a day. A major downside is that I have to take it every five hours, but it's seriously like my protective armor."

BuSpar (buspirone) "I'm 15 years old and before being on this I was a mess. I was so anxious all the time. I left school, and it was just so bad, I didn't hang out with friends for months. But after being on it, I can't even begin to explain how great I feel. I never feel nervous or anxious for anything. I'm back at school, going to football games, hanging with friends every day, and making new ones. This is the best I have felt in so long, probably ever! I'm so thankful for this medication! It takes about 3 months for it to actually work, but I highly suggest it!"

"Took buspirone, 20 mg/day, for four months, for general anxiety. Have been taking lamotrigine also for one year and five months. Initial buspirone side effects: prolonged haziness, nausea (disappeared after +/- 10 days), fatigue. Over time, experienced a general calming effect. Downside: a lot of undesirable, sedative effects. Lack of focus, slowness to absorb information, poor impulse control, short-term memory loss. Physical side effects: tinnitus, dizzy spells, loss of balance, loss of appetite, weight gain, muscle cramps. Consumption of even small amounts of alcohol led to blackouts and (uncharacteristic) volatile outbursts. Work performance declined quickly, conflicts at home emerged. Stopping this medication led to improvements in productivity, focus, impulse control, physical energy/stamina, memory. Brief periods of tension also re-emerged."

BuSpar (buspirone) "I've been taking 15 mg 2x/day with good results. My social anxiety has improved and I am sleeping much better. I have been taking Ambien almost every night for the past 4 years and now down to less than 1x/week. That to me has made it worth it."

BuSpar (buspirone) "Been taking buspirone on and off for 15 years, for insomnia, anxiety, and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Sleep is my #1 issue (or lack thereof). Very effective for insomnia almost immediately upon starting it (after a period of not taking it). I sleep easier within the first day or two. Within a week, I get to sleep easier and more soundly. Ironically, I've always had the side effect of vivid memorable dreams. Doesn't seem to increase bad dreams though, just makes them more memorable. No other side effects. I have, depending on the stress in my life or other medicines being taken, generally been on 5mg/day to 20mg/day, with good results. At 30mg/day, I feel dopey. Prefer to take doses later in the day, not first thing in the morning."

BuSpar (buspirone) "I've been on this medicine for about 7 months. I started at 5 mg and I felt great! But around the 4 months, I got worse and ended up increasing my dose to 30 mg, and now I feel even better than before! The only side effect I experienced was a slight brain zaps, but they go away after a week or two. This medicine has helped me so much. I recommend this medicine!"

BuSpar (buspirone) "I initially was prescribed this a few months ago at 10 mg 3xd, but it made me headachy and almost made my anxiety worse, so I quit taking it. I cannot take benzos, and recently am having more problems with anxiety, so I'm trying it at 5 mg 3xd. Now I see what others have been talking positively about. It's very subtle, but apparently I was just taking too much for my system before. So far, so good."

"This medicine has helped me so much with my anxiety. I can take it as soon as I start feeling overwhelmed and in about 30 minutes, I can feel an effect. I don't have to take it every day as recommended because I've taken it for some years now. Dosage has changed. The biggest change this medication has made for me is I was a smoker for years and I have quit. It's been 3 years since I've smoked a cigarette."

"I have been on buspirone for roughly 3 months. The first few weeks, I felt like the drug was a placebo pill. Zero difference. By the second month, with an increased dose, I could definitely feel some relief. (I had never been treated for anxiety and had no idea I had so much anxiety.) By the third month, taking 15 mg, I feel like my life is manageable. We had upped my meds to 20 mg, but it made me very sleepy and made my face feel weird, so I am sticking with 15 mg for now. This medication has truly been a game changer for me. I had no idea anxiety had taken over my life. I had been getting treatment for depression, and I think it should have been for anxiety. Give it time. ☆☆ The only negative has been intense dreams. Very intense. I wake up often yelling. I am going to see if it calms down, but it definitely is freaky. It is almost like the things in my life that bring anxiety are trying to work themselves out. I would definitely recommend this drug."

"28-year-old female. This medicine has been sitting in my bedside drawer for around 6 months because I was terrified it wouldn't work and would make my anxiety worse, like everything else I have tried (sertraline, mirtazapine, quetiapine + a few others I can't remember).... but it didn't! It seems to be working. I don't overthink as much and I'm not worried about people looking at me, and social situations are a lot easier. I'm not having panic attacks anymore. The only negatives are a little headache here and there, but it's not too bad, and paracetamol makes it unnoticeable. I've probably had 3 headaches in 1 month. I've had more crying than usual and a short temper for the first week, but nothing too bad. My prescribed dosage is 10 mg 2 times daily. But I started with 2.5 mg once at night because I was scared, and now I just take 5 mg 2 times daily, because that's what is working for me right now. But if anything was to change for the worse, I will probably increase my dosage to the prescribed amount."

BuSpar (buspirone) "This has literally been my miracle drug, it's made my anxiety almost disappear, and I've had no side effects either. I tried Hydroxyzine, and it did nothing but knock me out. I also tried Amitriptyline, and it did nothing. But when I tried BuSpar, after a week or so, it was like I finally felt okay and calm. I've gotten my appetite back, my physical symptoms went away, I can think clearly, it's just all around a great drug, at least in my experience."
