For Anxiety "I had high hopes that this would help my anxiety, but it seems like it made my anxiety a lot worse. I now experience bad nausea and trembling, which didn't happen before. I also had low appetite and more severe anxiety attacks. I took 15 mg twice a day for six weeks. Thankfully, it doesn't have withdrawal effects, but unfortunately, it didn't work for me."

For Anxiety "Okay, so BuSpar was the first medicine I took, and it helped with my anxiety tremendously, but the side effects sucked. I'm a female and only weigh about 115, so I'm not sure if that's why the side effects impacted me so much or what. The first day I was on it, I was fine. The only problem was I felt a little dizzy after the first 10 minutes of taking it, but then I was fine, and I would go about my regular day, and I felt amazing. I took this pill every day for about 4 days and felt fine, but then one day after I took it, I was so dizzy, I could barely stand up, and then I felt nauseous all day long. It was not fun. So it's kind of a hit or miss with this medicine. You either take it and feel fine, or you'll have bad side effects. At least for me anyways."

For Anxiety "I started this medication on a low, as needed, 5 mg dose back in August after I started a new job with a high level of stress. Taking it twice a day as needed worked for a while with no major side effects. Working this stressful job full time, classes, and being a newlywed young adult was taking its toll, and I finally had a nervous breakdown at work-uncontrollable sobbing, hyperventilating, the works. I went to the doctor, and we've upped it from 5 mg BID PRN to 15 mg twice daily. I'm currently taking 7.5 mg twice daily to get used to the increased dose. The only side effect I'm dealing with is nausea, but it goes away eventually."

For Anxiety "I started BuSpar 2 months ago and at first I did have the side effects for the first 3 weeks, but was given anti-nausea medication and reduced the nausea. Have lost 12 pounds and have kept it off. Eating a little as no changes in what I eat. No sweets. And that makes me happy. And no more anxiety."

For Anxiety "This med is the only anti-anxiety med I can take in order to use a Rx sleep med. Once stable, I'll go off my current anti-anxiety med. - Initial side effects: sore throat, dizziness, feeling 'excited' (over-reacting), and bad nausea. As a result, my psychiatrist told me to stop my 3 weeks of 20 mg/day. My pharmacist concurred. Unfortunately, I listened. I had 2 days of migraines. Less than a day later, I was in the ER. 'Stiffness' of the legs...excruciating pain and could barely walk. I had 'pain...weakness in the hands and feet.' The pain in my hands was almost unbearable! I saw my PCP 4 days later. Still in horrible pain, she told me to go back to the 20 mg; my body was craving it. I felt relief, and within 2 weeks, I was fine. I'm still on 20 mg. I now have had depression for a few weeks. I'm continuing BuSpar so I can get a sleep med due to 40 years of insomnia."

For Anxiety "PTSD. Seemed to help some. Have a bit of dizziness, loopy for about 15 to 30 minutes after taking, then okay. Was taking other meds and got sick and barfed often. Quit taking, and nausea stopped. After a couple of months, feeling quite anxious, so started up BuSpar again, and anxiety seems to be very much calmed down. I plan to space meds out throughout the day and find a schedule where my tummy doesn't feel so nauseated."

For Anxiety "Started on BuSpar, I think 15 mg daily (7.5 mg twice daily) in April and had some general side effects with increased anxiety plus nausea. My doctor upped the dose to 3 a day, and that lasted a week. My anxiety went through the roof, so he decreased the dose back down, but I've weaned it further to half a 7.5 mg tab twice a day and will begin coming completely off soon. Since beginning in April (it's now July), I have a marked increase in anxiety, irritability, and perpetual nausea. If you are new and looking to try something new, don't be afraid to try it. This is just my experience with it, there are plenty of others who have been helped by it. I have a prescription for a low dose of clonazepam (Klonopin) that I take sparingly as needed and works for me. I tried BuSpar because doctors are getting skittish about prescribing things like Klonopin and was hoping to find something that would help."

For Anxiety "I started taking BuSpar only a few days ago, 7.5 mg in the morning and evening, and so far have experienced the dizziness only in the morning. Had some nausea, but don't know if I can attribute that to the medication or the fact that I've stopped taking Ativan. So far, so good though. I do feel a little less anxious already and am excited to see the full results."

For Panic Disorder "My panic disorder started very gradually. At first, it was a slight panic that lasted for a min or two when I was driving, then it slowly intruded into my life. At some worst points, I was unable to sleep for a week. I might be able to doze off for an hour or two, and then I'd wake up with a racing heart. BuSpar helped at first, I was only on 5 mg for five months, never went up in dose. After about 5 months, stressful events like job interviews pretty much made this med ineffective for me. I really liked this med as it had no side effects for me. No dizziness or nausea or 'brain zaps.' My doctor put me on Paxil instead. Just started it, but it seems to be working. My pulse is still about 20 beats above my normal rate, but it doesn't bother me."

For Anxiety "I have really bad anxiety, and I've pretty much tried everything. I take Klonopin for panic attacks, and they work, but I needed something for daily issues. This medicine really worked, but, oh my God, I can't handle the side effects. Every day I have a migraine, or I'm nauseous, or puking."

For Anxiety "On the first two days of BuSpar, I had constipation, then nightmares all night long. Like the worst nightmare of your life every night. Brain zaps. Waking up, laying there. Apathy. Borderline nausea all day. Headaches. Then started to feel like someone was tapping on my brain. Had enough when I started crying uncontrollably."

For Anxiety "I could never take more than 10 mg at once without dizziness and nausea that would surprisingly last approximately 30 minutes to an hour. Even 5 mg would sometimes cause dizziness. I was supposed to take 15 mg (?) mg twice a day, but I would take less than my prescription because of the dizziness. It was really frustrating, and I'm not sure if BuSpar helped my anxiety. Being off of it, I still don't have as many panic attacks and as much anxiety as I used to. I thought that the decrease in panic attacks and anxiety was due to taking the BuSpar, but now I'm not sure. I was very unhappy with this medicine because the dizziness after taking it always happened even though I was on it and taking it consistently for quite a long time."

For Anxiety "BuSpar does the job better than other medication so far. Everything else has made me feel worse. The first couple of times I took this medication, my heart rate increased, and I felt dizzy. This went away after a couple of days of taking it. It makes me sick to my stomach if I take it on an empty stomach, so I definitely recommend eating a meal right before you take a pill."

For Anxiety "I am on BuSpar and 5 milligrams once a day. I feel that if I take it all at once and it does not work, I am so lost because I can't stand this dizziness, nausea in my stomach. My feet feel like they're falling out from underneath me. I really am lost. The doctor wants me to stay on it, but I do not want to up it because I feel like I keep going through these side effects over and over again every day due to the fact of it being half-life. What do I do from here?"

For Anxiety "I've been on BuSpar for about 2 months now, and it's not helping enough. I'm at the max dose 3 times daily. My anxiety causes me to feel severely nauseated, like I will throw up, and I've tried so many medications hoping it can stop that anxiety symptom. I really thought the buspirone was going to be my savior since I've read so many great reviews on it. I admit I do feel a little bit calmer, but I still can't get rid of the feeling like I will vomit whenever I have to go out in public or have a mutual conversation with someone. It just sucks because I feel like there's no medication that can stop that nausea, and I feel so helpless."

For Anxiety "I started out taking 2 doses of 5 mg a day. The first few days, I did notice a little mood boost, but it didn’t last long. We raised my dose 5 more mg (15 mg a day) and same thing, but it went away. Didn’t help with my panic or separation anxiety. Did help with depersonalization. It made me tired, nauseous, and gave diarrhea the first couple of days. Those went away after that, but it did give me a weird feeling about 45 minutes after taking each dose. I tapered off after 2-3 months."

For Anxiety "Terrible headache, nausea, sweats. I felt like this was bad for my body. Even though I only took it for a short time, I had terrible withdrawal symptoms. Please be very careful if you take this drug."

"BuSpar is great in managing anxiety attacks, as well as some panic disorders, but I can't tolerate it because each time I experience dizziness and motion sickness afterward, so I will have to stop it."

For Anxiety "This drug is awful. My doctor took me off my Klonopin because she was worried about addictive behavior. This drug I only took one time and will not take again. It made me very dizzy, sick to my stomach, my heart was racing. It basically gave me the worst panic attack I've ever had. Odd since this is supposed to be for anxiety. I understand the risk with taking benzos, but it's the only thing that has ever helped me. I would recommend never taking BuSpar."
