Wellbutrin (bupropion) "I had very high hopes for this medication. My brother takes it, and it’s magic in a bottle for him. He does very well, no side effects at all. So I have GAD, PTSD, panic disorder, and depression. I take Xanax to help control the anxiety and panic, and I’ve been taking it for 15 years. I’ve had no side effects with that. I lost my mother a few months ago and noticed that my depression was getting worse, and so I decided to try Wellbutrin. I have been on this for a little over 17 days now, and I decided today was the stopping point. I know this is just my experience, and maybe due to my particular medical problems, this medicine just was horrible for me. I could not eat, I can’t hold water down, the nausea is crazy, dry throat, dry eyes, headache, constipation, thoughts of death like OCD fixated on death. My stomach hurts so bad, I’m getting the chills, then hot flashes. I have GERD and hypothyroidism, and maybe this isn’t something that works well with those conditions. Not for me."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "About 5-6 years ago, my previous physician prescribed Wellbutrin XL 150 mg for major depression. Within 2 weeks, I began to feel more hypersensitive and paranoid. I advised my doctor and stopped the medicine immediately. Fast forward to July 2022. My current medicine I take is Cymbalta maxed at 60 mg 2x a day. I went for a doctor visit and informed the physician I didn't feel as if the Cymbalta was as effective and my depression was worsening. He suggested adding Wellbutrin XL low dose 150 mg. I told him about my negative experience prior, but I'd try in case my chemistry changed. Within 2 weeks, I felt worse than ever. Major anxiety, sweating, panic attacks, crying at least 10 times a day, and suicidal thoughts. I advised the doctor and went off immediately! I do not like to say 'Never,' but in this case, I WILL NEVER TAKE WELLBUTRIN AGAIN unless I have it in a suicide plan! God bless those that it helps, but not for me! If I could give a zero rating, I would."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "Do not take this. It literally can take you a nightmare world . I felt better at first even with the side effects and endured them for a month. Then it made me scared and psychotic. Felt unloved, lost and detached from myself. It’s one of the side effects and it’s not rare. I have never been felt so bad. It’s not worth it. Believe me, you will regret it."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I never thought I would find a medication that worked for me. I was prescribed SSRIs, hydroxyzine, and Adderall for ADHD, depression, and anxiety. All of these meds made everything worse, and I felt I couldn’t trust doctors, so naturally, I was reluctant at first when I was prescribed Wellbutrin XR 150 mg. I was desperate though and needed help. I took it for the first time, and within days, I was able to get out of bed. I went from one of the lowest points in my life to being happy and feeling like myself again after years of self-medicating. This medication also helped me to get off of other substances and focus on my mental health. It works wonders for my ADHD, depression, and anxiety. I feel like me again. I feel alive again. I feel emotion again. I had almost forgotten what that was like, but this medication reminded me. Truly a godsend."

Wellbutrin SR (bupropion) "I started on zoloft for depression. Worked wonders, but I had difficulty reaching orgasm and next to no sex drive. Doc prescribed wellbutrin, and it helped, but I was still experiencing sexual dysfunction. I had no trouble reaching orgasm, but it felt like nothing. There was a build up, but no fireworks. Just a faint sense of relief from tension. I was cycled through buspirone, remeron, and trintellix before I gave up on SSRIs altogether. It's been two months on just wellbutrin, and orgasms have gotten better, but they're still not what they were before medication. I'm going to continue taking it, but I'm concerned about the lasting effects from the SSRIs."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I had not been on depression medicine in a very long time. I had not had good luck with Prozac, Celexa, Paxil, etc. Too many side effects. But my depression got so bad that I could not get out of bed in the morning. I had a couple of friends swear by this Wellbutrin XL, so I thought I would try it and if I can't handle it, I will stop. I remember going to bed the night before thinking this is my last night of good sleep before all the medication side effects take over my life. But......NOTHING. No side effects. Not one!!! I even thought at one point to call the pharmacy and ask if I got a bad batch of medicine. No jitters, no insomnia, no loss of appetite, no headache. NOTHING! And within a few weeks, I felt ALIVE again. No more sadness, no depression. I had AMAZING energy!!! I mean, I was cleaning EVERYTHING. I've been on this medication for months now and still no side effects. It works!!!!!"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "Been taking for 1 year. 1st was 6 mo's @ 150 mg. Up'd to 300 mg 6 mo's ago. Pros & cons. Cons: I get 'brain zaps' that are common with some antidepressants. They're nowhere near as bad as they were on Lexapro years ago. 1-2 x a day. Not bad. Dizziness. About 1 x a day. I can be standing still, and I feel like I have a buzz or like the room is spinning. Just a few seconds. Not bad. Insomnia. If taken past noon, it wrecks my sleep. I have to take Melatonin. **Pros: Moods seem to be stabilized! WAY less mood swings! I feel WAY more 'chill' about everything. Less uptight and full of anxiety/panic. Awesome! I used to get ramped up over every little thing. Now? Not much. I just go with the flow. Family members have pointed it out without me noticing it at first. Alcohol: I have ZERO interest in drinking. It completely shut off any desires I've ever had for it, gone 100%. Snacking/Binge Eating: Stopped cravings. I forget to eat. Lost 16 lbs in 1 year w/o trying. I LOVE this & don't want to go w/o."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I'm nonbinary AFAB, living in Canada, and I was prescribed this for ADHD and depression. It's genuinely changed my life in the past half-year I've been taking it. I really can't even put into words, it's like your whole life feels brighter, and you're able to take it on. I now feel motivation to do things like fold my laundry or feed myself. I do still have the symptoms of ADHD, but they don't make me hate myself as much as they used to. I'm on the once-a-day pill at 300 mg in the morning, so it's easy to remember to take it. At first, I noticed an immediate benefit upon starting it, then it dipped down after a week or so. I felt like it wasn't doing anything anymore, but I didn't stop taking it. After a month or two, it started having an effect on my brain again, and I now feel consistent, long-term benefits. I feel happier, I feel more confident in my self-esteem, and I don't cry every day anymore. I'm less of a burden on my romantic partner, and I can help them now too."

"I'm on Zoloft 200mg and Bupropion 300mg. I've always had a high sex drive and not even the Zoloft caused that to go down, which was great. However, I am mad about the fact that when I got on Bupropion my sex drive has dramatically diminished and the worst part is I cannot climax. I'm lucky if I can get 1 orgasm with 1.5hrs of masturbating versus the multiple/fast orgasms I used to. I've tried it for over 7 months now and I'm about to call it quits (after talking with my doctor first which seems weird to say "hey doc I've never spoken to you about this before but I CAN'T orgasm and I want to be off of this med."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I went into this endeavor quite excited, knowing that there would be some compromises as always, and I was ready to trade. But this drug took away everything for itself. I was taking Zoloft and, upon me complaining about feeling well but not being motivated (probably I got used to SSRIs a little bit) to get my butt up and get stuff done, smoking 1.5 packs/day. Of course, to combat SSRI SD, we agreed on trying Welloft (Z 75mg - W 150mg). I've been taking Wellbutrin for exactly 20 days, and it's been a big disappointment. I definitely intend to take it for 2 months and know for sure if it's for me or not — not a day longer! Increased anxiety, aggression, appetite, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, and short-term memory issues, worse depression, chest pain, headache. Severe climbing anxiety till it peaked at day 8, then I would have a bad one sporadically. I would consider myself almost impotent now. I remember Paxil days with a smile. Will update if anything changes at the 2-month mark."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "3 weeks in; I’m a huge believer in Wellbutrin now. It truly was a great decision for me to start taking it for depression, anxiety, and ADHD. Surprisingly, haven’t experienced any side effects! My daily depression went from being a straight 10 down to a 1-2. Anxiety is the more debilitating aspect of my mental health, though; and it certainly has lowered my anxiety levels also. I’m much less anxious. Wellbutrin is mildly stimulating, especially when compared to other treatment options like SSRIs. It’s better than any SSRI I’ve ever tried. SSRIs make me feel flat and dull. Wellbutrin actually makes me feel happy. When I smile or crack a laugh, I feel it helping me truly feel joy, which was a forgotten feeling prior. My ADHD symptoms are better while on it. It helped me quit vaping nicotine! I also have slowed down on marijuana as well, which I was only a casual user prior, but still, Wellbutrin definitely helps with quitting marijuana too! Give it a try! I hope that your experience is like mine."

"I tried Bupropion/Wellbutrin since I didn't react well to SSRIs/SSNIs. I can tell the first 4 weeks was pure nightmare: no sleep, no appetite, panic attacks, terrible anxiety feeling sick all day. But after that it became much better. Suddenly I started to notice that I had a lot more energy, I had more self-confidence, my social anxiety was better so I got back most of my motivation and old life. And.. most importantly instead of the lack of libido I had increased sex drive ! So far perfect right? Well unfortunately not really but overall it is indeed a good medicine. The reason why I decided to stop taking it after 3 months was that some of the stubborn side effects stayed : after months I still couldn't fall asleep, I was drastically loosing weight, I became aggressive and sometimes paranoid and my anxiety showed only minor improvements. If you have anxiety forget it, for depresison it is worth a try but there is a reason that this is the last medicine you are prescribed."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "I've had moderate depression and some anxiety most of my life. It manifests mostly in the forms of low energy, worrying, irritability, and avoidance. Dishes piling up, laundry not getting done, car interior a mess, etc. I tried two SSRIs (Lexapro & Zoloft) before switching to Wellbutrin, which is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor. Dopamine! That was the answer. It wasn't a serotonin problem, it was a dopamine one! The SSRIs worked okay, but I was always tired and foggy. I gave each 6 months. I eased off the SSRIs and eased into the Wellbutrin. I only take 150 mg at the moment. I'm almost 4 months in, and I can't believe the improvement. I bound out of bed in the morning and start getting stuff done. My attitude is positive, excited, eager for the day and being alive. I can't believe it. All those years with the background hum of depression, even if mild at times, made me think feeling that way was normal. It wasn't! This turned out to be the perfect fit for me."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "Doctor started me on Wellbutrin 150 mg once daily for ADHD and depression, and I must say this drug takes about 3 weeks to start working. At first, I was frustrated but continued taking it. I experience weight loss, a boost of energy, and motivation in my everyday life. I was on 300 mg daily, and it was a little anxiety, fast heart rate at first, then, after a few hours, it goes away. I was told this is normal."

"I'm putting this review for warning also. I have never felt suicide feelings like I have when I took this 150mg x 2. It was overwhelming . Also shaky hands, a taste of grossness that permeated out of me. I felt I was losing my mind at work once, with hints of rage under my skin. It gave me hardly any sleep. I couldn't stop taking this fast enough. I only took for a week."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I have been on this medication for four days, and I am weeping because of how good it makes me feel. I have been medicated for a long time, and this is the first time I don’t feel like garbage. I have energy, motivation, clarity, peace, I didn’t know that was possible for me. I had my first suicide attempt at eight years old, and this is the first time I’ve ever felt actual, genuine relief from my stress and ADHD. I love being alive now, and I didn’t think I could. I love this med so much."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I enjoyed it until after about 2 weeks there was a side effect that ruined it for me. Throat tightening! It felt like when I’d swallow my food or vitamins and they wouldn’t go down . All day! Once I tapered off of it the side effects definitely subsided. But it seemed to be worsening so I could not continue it. But aside from that I really loved the med and this was super rare according to my dr."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "I have had great success with Wellbutrin. It has helped me quit smoking twice. I feel it supports an upbeat mood without being overstimulating. I get good energy from Wellbutrin. I also like that there are no sexual side effects, no weight gain, and no noticeable withdrawal syndrome. Highly recommend Wellbutrin (bupropion!)."

"I have been taking this medication for 6 weeks, and I have noticed a drastic difference in my mental health. I no longer care as much about peoples opinion or when I'm driving or someone does something stupid, I don't dwell on small things like that with the same intensity I used to without medication. As far as side effects go I have noticed that sometimes when I get into a tense situation at work or while driving my heart will beat really fast to the point that it hurts. That is about the only major negative side effect I have noticed. Some of the minor side effects include dry mouth, slight memory loss, mild constipation, etc. I didn't really experience insomnia, increase/decrease in weight/appetite nor any changes to my libido. This is all fine since I am at my desired weight goal and my libido had been fine prior to taking this medication. I definitely think its worth a shot, the way I see it, there's only failure in not trying it."

Budeprion XL (bupropion) "Started out okay on 150mg. Moved up to 300mg. Okay at first, then after a few months, side effects kicked in. My memory was getting much worse, balance was off. Hard time walking straight. I was in bad shape. It's hard to get in to see the doctor, so I quit taking them completely. Within two weeks I was back to my old self. Never again!"

"I've been on bupropion XR for nearly 10 years with little to no side effects. About 2 years ago, it was starting to lose its effect, whether due to my body getting used to the medication or events in my life, my doctor increased my dosage from 300 mg to 450 mg, and that is working very well. I still have the occasional sad, stay-in-bed-all-day days, but they are pretty rare."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "This drug made me nuts. I took it for anxiety and depression, and it multiplied the anxiety by a factor of 10. It was like a hand reached down from the sky, grabbed me by the throat, and scared me witless. I could not calm myself down. I felt doomed. I was so scared I became jumpy and angry. Like, furious. The literature all says these symptoms may fade, so I kept taking the pills for 2 weeks until my husband was exhausted by this frantic woman I had become. I stopped cold and felt normal again almost immediately. So don't feel you have to stay with it!"

"I was diagnosed with clinical depression at a very young age and tried several anti depressants (ssri’s) but I didn’t want the side effects of being on an antidepressant. I tried everything natural and holistic. I had my hormones checked I eat super healthy, exercise and I don’t drink Alcohol. It all helps for sure but I still had that overall depression super low energy, no motivation and anxiety. I couldn’t take it anymore so I decided to try Wellbutrin (bupropion) because it’s supposed to help with energy and focus. I noticed I had more energy and focus within a week or two and I did have some side effects that were strange. Weird dreams and some anxiety for a few days. I started with the lowest dose 150mg for 3 weeks and then moved to 300mg. Within 8-10 weeks I started feeling the full effect. It has been 5 months now! I am able to get through the hard times quicker and be more positive all around. I am so grateful for this medication."
