Wellbutrin (bupropion) "I got prescribed Wellbutrin 150 XR as an add on to my SSRI medication. My SSRI medication wiped my libido and gave me insomnia so Wellbutrin was supposed to combat those bad side effects. For the first week or so of use, I felt slightly off from my usual self. I was hyper constantly and my libido was through the roof. It wasn't anything I couldn't tolerate though. I have now been on this medication for 1 1/2 years and overall this medication has helped boost my mood and energy, helps me sleep better, and brings my libido back. Occasionally for a week at a time I will get no hunger signal, as in I feel hungry but the thought of food isn't appealing so I won't eat much and not notice. Though, this has been of benefit to me because I binge eat when my depression gets bad so it has kept my weight the same. This is probably the best psychiatric medication I have ever used!"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "This medication for whatever reason did not work for me at all. It was not a miracle drug for me, but rather something that made my depression something even worse to battle. Please be careful when starting this medications and know to stop taking them the moment you start having more frequent suicidal idealizations and just generally not being able to get out of bed. I was also on Citalopram at the same time and was actively managing my depression for awhile before I started taking Wellbutrin which then made my depression unmanageable before I took myself off of Wellbutrin."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "If you're anything like me , you're scrolling these reviews freaking yourself out over the bad reviews. I never wanted to take meds but I gave them a try because I needed that extra help. Yes , the first two weeks suck. My anxiety sky rocketed, I was irritable, had dry mouth and really bad brain fog. That's how it's going to be when taking a new powerful drug, your body needs to adapt. To be blunt , you just need to suck it up and push through knowing these feelings will pass because they do. One day I was suicidal so if that lasts more than a day or so then yes, maybe it's not for you. Have a support system, friends or family, it helps a lot. Week 3-5 I felt no change, week 6 rolled around and I felt GREAT. At peace, motivated, and clear minded. I started with 100mg , just went up 50mg. In order to heal you NEED to pair medication with other help like meditation, yoga , exercise, therapy, and a healthy diet. I promise when you put that effort in , amazing things will come your way."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "I started this because I take 20mg of lexapro but I have fatigue and lethargy with it. Basically all SSRIs just make me lazy. My dr said this would help. I only started a week ago but I’m posting to talk about initial side effects. I prepared myself for the racing heart, anxiety etc that everyone says. Trying new meds is usually rough for me but this one was fine! First day 0 side effects. Second day I was a little extra out of breath at the gym which gave me anxiety but other than that I’ve been fine. Hopefully it helps me once I’m experiencing the full effect of it. I take the extended relief by the way. That one is best to minimize the side effects."

Very angry and moody. Any how, I will be tested for ADHD in few weeks. 2 weeks ago we change to Wellbutrin XL 300. It’s been a positive experience. Max 1-2 coffee per day. I remember stuff. I feel better. I am less impulsive. I feel am I awake now. It’s been good so far. I am sure with a stimulated added with my Wellbutrin, I will experience what it feels like to be Normal."

"I started taking 150 mg of bupropion Hcl and it’s day 5. So far I have noticed a difference in my mood, my appetite had decreased, my energy level is up and I’m motivated. I still have some sadness but it’s only been 5 days. I have tried several different medications and they made feel crazy. I can actually tolerate this medication. My side effects was dizziness, headaches, dry mouth, and my thought process seemed a little slow at times. Nothing that I can’t tolerate and hopefully will improve. So far so good. I’m going to stick it out with this med."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "Wellbutrin helped me. I have been hurting from depression for 5 months, and now after I upped it to 300 mg XL, I am not in pain from depression anymore, which is AWESOME! I wake up way too early, but I hope this is a side effect that will resolve. I also get very anxious 1 hour after taking it, and I hope that resolves, too. Been on it for 6 days. Also on 50mg Pristiq in am and 10mg Seroquel at night."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I took Wellbutrin/Bupropion XL 150mg for only 5 days (5 doses) and have developed Visual Snow Syndrome. I started noticing vision problems on the 3rd day, with severe after images/sensitivity to light. On the morning of the 5th day, I developed "visual snow" which was debilitating. I immediately stopped taking the drug at this time, as it stated to cease treatment if serious visual side effects occurred. The visual snow covers my entire vision with small red and blue dots (similar to static on an analog TV) and has also destroyed my night vision. If you search Google/Reddit/etc. for "bupropion and visual snow" you will see other reports from users that they have developed this condition. Everyone I have spoken to with similar experiences (including an Ophthalmologist) have stated this condition is now permanent."

"I had the worst reaction I ever had to any drug: racing heart, anxiety, panic attacks (which I never had before), racing thoughts and much more... Even after discontinuing the drug, I suffered from heart anxiety and hypochondriasis for a very long time. I wish I had never tried it... Keep away from it, especially if you have a tendency to anxiety and tension"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I really had more to say than 1000 characters here but let me tell you this medicine in six weeks change my life at 66 years old fighting PTSD ADD and depression when my husband of 25 years left me. I was taking generic but I switched to brand name just because I wanted to see if it would work better although the generic has been amazing for me. I’m afraid of medication and I thank my doctor so much for putting me on this because I hated any other ones I tried"

"Permanent tinnitus (ringing in ears) developed sub acutely (over a period of a few weeks). Onset of tinnitus was accompanied by sharp ear pain. I tried the drug again 5 years later and experienced increasing volume of tinnitus along with sharp ear pain. At no other times in my life did I have ear pain like this. Despite only taking the drug 3 weeks, the tinnitus is permanent."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "It’s worth a try. Easy to come off of. I’ve cold turkey quit many antidepressants. Insomnia will probably be your worst side effect. Sweating, agitation, restlessness, trouble focusing, and even increased depression and anxiety are common too. It’s an NDRI like Ritalin but much weaker and less selective. I think jogging, drinking lots of water and an energy drink/coffee or two is more effective. Don’t expect much but it’s definitely better than SSRI, SNRI, Antipsychotics, etc."

"I suffered from severe work-related burnout that manifested itself as depression (extreme fatigue, lack of interest in things you usually find interesting, etc) to such an extent I spent maybe all but 1 hour a day in bed. Didn't have energy for showering, brushing my teeth, cooking food, or even cleaning up. My PCP prescribed me bupropion, which I was very much against as I don't consider myself depressed --- but wow! After 1-2 days at 150mg in the morning I have energy to exercise, make breakfast, clean up, and just get on with my day and my life. Pure magic!"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "Hey everyone, I am a 47yr old female from South Africa, Cape Town, and have been struggling with depression / anxiety for years but suppressed it do to not wanting to look weak but that did more harm than good. 4yrs ago I had a complete mental breakdown and was referred to see a doctor. I was put on Yelate 60 at first and felt like okayish. Was booked into a clinic and had a major set back to the point where I was suicidal. I have been using Wellbrutrin XL for a month and felt more normal. In control of my emotions and making realistic decisions what I want to waste my energy on. So it has definitely worked for me."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "I had very high hopes for this medication. My brother takes it and it’s magic in a bottle for him. He does very well no side effects at all. So I have GAD, PTSD, Panic disorder and depression. I take Xanax to help control the anxiety and panic and I’ve been taking it for 15 years. I’ve had no side effects with that. I lost my mother a few months ago and noticed that my depression was getting worse and so I decided to try Wellbutrin. I have been on this for a little over 17 days now and I decided today was the stopping point. I know this is just my experience and maybe due to my particular medical problems this medicine just was horrible for me. I could not eat, I can’t hold water down the nausea is crazy, dry throat, dry eyes, headache, constipation, thoughts of death like ocd fixated on death. My stomach hurts so bad, I’m getting the chills then hot flashes. I have GERD and hypothyroidism and maybe this isn’t something that works well with those conditions. Not for me"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "About 5-6 years ago, my previous physician prescribed Wellbutrin XL 150 mg for major depression. Within 2 weeks, I began to feel more hypersensitive, and paranoid. I advised my doctor and stopped the medicine, immediately. Fast forward to July 2022. My current medicine, I take is Cymbalta maxed at 60mg 2x a day. I went for Dr visit and informed the physician, I didn't feel as if the Cymbalta was as effective and my depression was worsening. He suggested add Wellbutrin XL low dose 150mg. I told him negative experience prior, but I'd try in case my chemistry changed. Within 2 weeks, I felt worse than ever. Major anxiety, sweating, panic attacks, crying at least 10 times a day and suicidal thoughts. I advised Dr and went off immediately! I do not like to say "Never" but in the case, I WILL NEVER TAKE WELLBUTRIN, AGAIN unless I have it in a suicide plan! God bless those that it helps, but not for me! If I could give a Zero rate, I would."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "Do not take this. It literally can take you a nightmare world . I felt better at first even with the side effects and endured them for a month. Then it made me scared and psychotic. Felt unloved, lost and detached from myself. It’s one of the side effects and it’s not rare. I have never been felt so bad. It’s not worth it. Believe me, you will regret it."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I never thought I would find a medication that worked for me. I was prescribed SSRI’s, hydroxizine, and adderall for ADHD, depression, and anxiety. All of these meds made everything worse, and I felt I couldn’t trust doctors, so naturally I was reluctant at first when I was prescribed Wellbutrin XR 150 mg. I was desperate though and needed help. I took it for the first time, and within days I was able to get out of bed. I went from one of the lowest points in my life to being happy and feeling like myself again after years of self medicating. This medication also helped me to get off of other substances and focus on my mental health. It works wonders for my ADHD, depression and anxiety. I feel like me again. I feel alive again. I feel emotion again. I had almost forgotten what that was like, but this medication reminded me. Truly a godsend."

Wellbutrin SR (bupropion) "I started on zoloft for depression. Worked wonders, but I had difficulty reaching orgasm and next to no sex drive. Doc prescribed wellbutrin, and it helped, but I was still experiencing sexual dysfunction. I had no trouble reaching orgasm, but it felt like nothing. There was a build up, but no fireworks. Just a faint sense of relief from tension. I was cycled through buspirone, remeron, and trintellix before I gave up on SSRIs altogether. It's been two months on just wellbutrin, and orgasms have gotten better, but they're still not what they were before medication. I'm going to continue taking it, but I'm concerned about the lasting effects from the SSRIs."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I had not been on depression medicine in a very long time. I had not had good luck with Prozac, Celexa, Paxil, etc. Too many side effects. But my depression got so bad that I could not get out of bed in the morning. I had a couple of friends swear by this Wellbutrin XL so I thought I will try it and if I cant handle it I will stop. I remember going to bed the night before thinking this is my last night of good sleep before all the medication side effects take over my life. But......NOTHING. No side effects. Not one!!! I even thought at one point to call the pharmacy and ask if I got a bad batch of medicine. No jitters, no insomnia, no loss of appetite, no headache. NOTHING! And within a few weeks I felt ALIVE again. No more sadness, no depression. I had AMAZING energy!!! I mean, I was cleaning EVERYTHING. I've been on this medication for months now and still no side effects. It works!!!!!"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "Been taking for 1 year. 1st was 6 mo's @ 150mg. Up'd to 300mg 6 mo's ago. Pros & cons. Cons: I get "brain zaps" that are common with some antidepressants. They're nowhere near as bad as they were on Lexapro years ago. 1-2 x-a day. Not bad. Dizziness. About 1x-day. I can be standing still and I feel like I have a buzz or like the room is spinning. Just a few seconds. Not bad. Insomnia. If taken past noon, it wrecks my sleep. I have to take Melatonin. **Pros: Moods seem to be stabilized! WAY less mood swings! I feel WAY more "chill" about everything. Less uptight and full of anxiety/panic. Awesome! I used to get ramped up over every little thing. Now? Not much. I just go with the flow. Family members have pointed out without me noticing it at first. Alcohol: I have ZERO interest in drinking. It completely shut off any desires I've ever had for it, gone 100%. Snacking/Binge Eating: Stopped cravings. I forget to eat. Lost 16 lbs in 1 year w/o trying. I LOVE this & don't want to go w/o."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I'm nonbinary AFAB, living in Canada and I was prescribed this for ADHD and Depression. It's genuinely changed my life in the past half-year I've been taking it. I really can't even put into words, it's like your whole life feels brighter and you're able to take it on. I now feel motivation to do things like fold my laundry or feed myself. I do still have the symptoms of ADHD but they don't make me hate myself as much as it used to. I'm on the once-a-day pill at 300mg in the morning so it's easy to remember to take it. At first I noticed an immediate benefit upon starting it, then it dipped down after a week or so. I felt like it wasn't doing anything anymore but I didn't stop taking it. After a month or two, it started having an effect on my brain again and I now feel consistent, long-term benefits. I feel happier, I feel more confident in my self-esteem, and I don't cry every day anymore. I'm less of a burden on my romantic partner, and I can help them now too."
