"I was started on Wellbutrin about 2 months ago, along with Lamictal for mood stabilization. I reluctantly got on it after a year free of meds (when I got hit with a bad case of Seasonal Depression beginning in fall and lasting through March and some of April, after a move to mostly gloomy Asheville, NC). I started off on half a tablet of 75 mg regular release. Then I went up an extra half a tab. At first, I thought it was great, and then I started to feel low down again and went up to 150 mg. Slowly, I noticed feeling quite agitated and almost aggressive. I cut back down to just one tab and then half a tab, and still the side effects persisted, along with horrible anxiety and restlessness. So no more for me."

"I loved bupropion, it is the first antidepressant that worked for me after trying a long list of other meds (Prozac, Lexapro, Abilify...). Bupropion is the only one that actually made me feel good, especially without any sexual side effects (important for a 23-year-old in college :P), but 5 months in, this medication started giving me seizures...sooo...that's not cool. Definitely worth a try though. Was perfect up until the seizures :P."

"This is the only med that works for my depressive states without causing terrible side effects. SSRIs make me very tired and sexually anhedonic. Bupropion feels like a couple of cups of coffee and does not interfere with sexual enjoyment (if anything, it enhances it a little bit, but that may just be its antidepressant effect). I am currently on 150 mg of the XL once a day but just started taking it again after several years on SSRIs (I started on those due to some perceived anxiety that turned out to be temporary). I used to take two doses of the SR but do not remember how many mg. I also take 300 mg of lamotrigine to avoid manic and mixed phases, and the combo seems to work for me."

"In my experience, I've seen an improvement. I started with 150 mg and my depression episodes stopped being so frequent, my mania episodes last a lot less. I'm now increasing to 300 mg, because even though they are not as frequent, they are still very intense. But I've tried fluoxetine, that one made everything worse."
