"I am a 53 year old woman, I have struggled with depression probably since my 20"s. I would go to my family Dr and she would prescribe an antidepressant, it wouldn't work and I would be given another one to try. This went on for many years. Until 3 days before Christmas last year , I had a major breakdown and my husband took me to hospital crises unit, there I met my psychiatrist!!! Thank God!!! After talking with him he prescribed Bupropion XL 150 mg once a day. I have been taking it now for approx 1 month. It didn't seem to be doing much for me (or so I thought ) until this week, It just seemed like a heavy fog has been lifted !!! I'm hoping each day will get better and better."

"I have had depression as long as I can remember,I went to my Dr and he prescribed me Prozac, I honestly vaugly even remember anything about that, which was one of the symptoms forgetfulness it was REALLY bad so I got off of it and got prescribed lexapro all that did was make me sleep 24/7 so again I got off of that and finally was prescribed Bupropion 150mg the symptoms in the beginning weren't to bad and within about two weeks I began feeling like a human being again. It literally felt like a huge weight had been lifted off me. :) The only symptom I seem to have that's really bothersome is it gives me really bad insomnia, other then that it's great. I'm proud to say I've been on it almost a year now & it's definitely improved my life. :)"

"This has been the only antidepressant that works for me. I have suffered most of my life from anxiety and depression. Before taking this, I was obsessed with time, would ruminate constantly, pending sense of doom, no motivation, and just tired. I used to be addicted to Adderall, meth, and once I stopped I became a compulsive snacker. This medicine helped me lose 50+ by helping me get up to exercise, not overeat or obsess over food. It helps me be my best self, and I no longer wake up dreading the day. I take 450mg. 150mg + 300mg"

"I have been on bupropion xl 300 for 5 days. The first day I had great energy level but felt wierd. Day 2-4 I have had bad anxiety, no appetite and not sleeping good. Day 5 today seems to be a better day. I still have energy which is good and anxiety seems to be diminishing. And if I loose a few pds I wont be sad. Im sure it will take weeks to get to where I need to be, hoping for the best and just trying to ride it out. Any advice?"

"I started off with 150 mgs then went up to 300mgs after 4 days. Within the first 4 days I started having mood swings. I'd be angry one minute, cry the next, and then I'd be fine. After two weeks, the mood swings decreased a bit, but I started to space out, and began to experience some significant short term memory loss. I had no recollection of conversations that I had just completed minutes before, couldn't recall where I put something I had in my hand just a few minutes prior, etc. When my family started to voice concerns about my odd behavior, I stopped taking it. I was on it for about 3 weeks. Scary. "

"Generic was not working for me at all. 100% difference with Brand name. If fact went through several generic nothing was working till I started taking the brand name. Now I do not have insurance and can not afford it. I had a discount card. I would have paid $5 but you had to have insurance."

"I was on bupropion for 4 months. It was somewhat effective for my MDD, and helped some aspects of my ADHD a little bit (primarily ones associated with depression, like overeating and motivation). Side-effects when starting were quite intense, and I noticed slight increases in suicidal ideation. I got off of it because of concerns of other medications interacting, and cross-tapered to Zoloft (which I found totally ineffective and potentially made things worse). Side effects were the most problematic aspect of Budeprion."
