For Pain "I had a Reverse Shoulder Replacement, August 23, 2017. I was given a Nerve Block as well as an injection of Exparel. It made recovery so much easier! The Nerve Block didn't wear off for 24 hours and the Exparel lasted for about 3 days. to be spared the immediate pain from major surgery for those first few days was such a blessing. Especially compared to my Total Knee Replacement 28 years ago, where I was in agony from the moment I woke up from surgery. Wonderful results!"

For Pain "I came out of surgery for a toe joint replacement. They had given me liposomal bupivicaine. I was told it should last up to 4 days. Well, it didn't even get off the ground. I came out of surgery and the sole of my foot felt like it was on fire. I am not over stating this. It felt like it was literally on fire. They had also given me Fentanyl which also turned out to be a joke. I think I told them my pain was at a 9, but I have a tendency to understate, so in retrospect, along with the shock of being in pain, I'd have to say now it was a 10. I don't know how much they gave me of either medication, but they were both worthless. Never, ever, ever again. I'm not a guinea pig. Stick with what works. New and improved isn't what it's cracked up to be."

Exparel (bupivacaine liposome) for Pain "I was given Exparel as a nerve block for a Bunionectomy. This was a miracle drug for me. I could not feel my foot at all for 3 days and it didn’t fully wear off for a full 7 days. This is a very painful surgery and this medicine was a god send to get me over the worst days. I only had to take a few narcotic pills and was able to toss the rest. I highly recommend this medicine for this particular surgery!"

Exparel (bupivacaine liposome) for Pain "I had Exparel administered during my wisdom teeth removal, and its effect was/is truly magical. I had 4 teeth removed, for more context. I had some pain post-op on the first day, and very tolerable pain the second and third day. I’m on my fourth day and the pain is virtually nonexistent. I have been taking ibuprofen as directed, which I’m sure helps, but my recovery experience has been far, far smoother than anyone else I’ve known who has had the procedure done and had not used Exparel. I’m so happy I didn’t have to take an opioid, and that it was so effective on its own."

For Pain "I had this medication and was so pleasantly surprised at how well it controlled my pain from back surgery. I’ve not had any negative issues with this medication. I thank God for this pain relief medication. After experiencing 3 failed pain blocks in arm and shoulder I really am blessed to have this given to me."

Exparel (bupivacaine liposome) for Pain "I had Exparel following laparoscopic surgery and had a lot of anxiety about post surgical pain. I have had no pain and it is almost 24 hours! Amazing! I have to have another surgery in 4 weeks and will definitely ask for it for pain relief. Now I will be more confident going into surgery knowing that I won’t be in so much pain."

Exparel (bupivacaine liposome) for Pain "I just had a lumbar artificial disc replacement between L/4 L/5- major back surgery. They go through the stomach to access the spine and then use a tool to open up my collapsed bone on bone disc so they can put in a new artificial disc and restore the disc height and movement. I am AMAZED by how little pain I have had since the surgery and I have every reason it’s mostly credited to this medication. I actually had to stop myself from walking more than was recommended because I feel zero nerve pain etc. It’s supposed to last up to 70 hours so I’m a bit nervous about when it wears off (it’s been 50 hours so far)."

For Pain "Exparel given with dental implant. Nearly pain-free 2 immediate nights/days postoperative. Merely discomfort and numbness. Highly recommend, especially if it will decrease opioid use. Highly recommend."

Exparel (bupivacaine liposome) for Pain "I'm on day two after a dental implant surgery (abutment placement) and have felt minimal pain—just soreness in my cheek. I'd honestly say it works too well. The day after surgery, I didn't really feel any pain when I woke up and did a little too much because I ended up overestimating my activity levels. I ended up feeling super winded, and coupled with experiencing the side effect of decreased appetite and riding out the lingering effects of anesthetic from the day before, I felt kind of bad when I realized I hadn't eaten for 12 hours. On one hand, I liked that hydrocodone kept me from doing too much and hurting myself, but on the other hand, Exparel has been practically painless and I feel mostly like myself. I'm not sure how I'd feel if I had to take it for any other procedures, however."

Exparel (bupivacaine liposome) for Pain "I was given Exparel before a total knee replacement. Dr claimed that I would feel little pain for 3 days, then as the pain increased I might need to use opioids. Didn't work at all! I woke up in post-op screaming in pain! Took Drs forever to decide to give me something for the pain. I chased the pain for 3 days after as was told I couldn't take anything else. Scheduled to get my other knee done in 6 months, will NOT get this shot!"

For Pain "For me, Exparel worked but definitely not for 72 hrs. After breast reconstruction surgery, I had no pain in my entire body. I need hip replacement surgery, so this was the first time in years that I could walk and move normally. But, after 8 hrs, I started to feel the sharp pain of the incisions. Luckily, I had already started my pain reduction regimen (taking tylenol, etc. ) Why? Because this happened before after another surgery when Exparel was used. I make sure I have my opioids on hand just in case, especially when the non-opioids don’t work (especially right after surgery). For me, the opioids are the last defense. Exparel works for me, but everyone has a different pain threshold."

Exparel (bupivacaine liposome) for Postoperative Pain "My husband had hemorrhoid surgery and had to throw away the narcotics given due to only taking maybe 3 randomly after surgery. He said his pain was not bad after surgery and we had been told it was going to be really bad. Exparel is so good our son invested in stocks! Great stuff!!"

Exparel (bupivacaine liposome) for Postoperative Pain "I love it. I had a tummy tuck today, and although there is pain because they had to cut out a fairly large area, the majority of my pain is coming from my sides where I had the lipo. Not the tummy, because of this medicine. It's a miracle worker. If I ever have another surgery, this is 100% needed. But I have no idea how it would help a tooth. The jaw, on the other hand, makes sense. He also put it directly into my muscles, so that helps a lot."

Exparel (bupivacaine liposome) for Pain "I received Exparel during a total hip replacement. It did not take more than the slightest edge off the pain. In recovery, it made me so nauseous that the alternative- an opioid - could not be kept down. That put me in that nasty place of trying to catch up with the pain. It is only day 1 and I will amend this if it changes. But I am at about a 7 with the opioid, icing, and elevation. Gonna be a long night."
