For Depression "I have bipolar and treatment-resistant depression. I had been on 8 different antidepressants, and my psych added Abilify, which worked for the most part… but I developed akathisia, so I stopped. I was just on my Buspirone and Lamictal for about 5 months, and I would dread getting up in the mornings. I’d just sit around and do nothing but stare at my phone. I was hardly taking care of my hygiene and hadn’t left the house in nearly three months. I finally told my psych what was going on, and she added Rexulti, and within two weeks, my life changed. I wake up before my alarm, get up with no issues… I have nearly flipped our entire house (just finished our downstairs). My house is finally clean and livable… I get out regularly, and my marriage and relationship with my kids is a million times better. This is, in my own opinion, a miracle drug. It literally gave me my life back. I forgot who I really was until Rexulti."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Two weeks in, my experience. The good: Clear focus. Appetite suppression. Increased libido. Calm demeanor. Lower anxiety. Able to get out of the house and interact with people. The bad, but has subsided: Dizzy. Nauseous. Insomnia, now I take it around 2pm vs before bed. The drug is always unavailable when the doctor refills. Expensive without insurance. Better than Wellbutrin, Lexapro, and Abilify. So far, so good."

For Depression "Started and have stayed on the very lowest mg. of Rexulti. (For roughly four months.) Almost immediately I felt so much better, and as the days went on, I felt 'alive' again. Did have an issue with hot flashes, but it didn't last long. My Pdoc is trying to see if I can get a reduction on the cost of this med. Hope he can, because if not, I have no other med that works for me, and it's back to doomsville again. I have D.I.D., PTSD, anxiety, and panic disorder. This drug really keeps me focused and on an even emotional keel. Very pleased."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Another thought-erasing, emotion-numbing, all-too-typical anti-psychotic. Within two days at a beginning dose of 0.5 mg, I was feeling utterly depersonalized, unable to hold a thought in my head, or to feel any emotion. Marketing schizophrenia drugs for depressive disorders should be a crime."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I was given Rexulti as an adjunct, and it pulled me out of a dark hole pretty quickly (about 3 days). A dose of 1 mg worked for about 6 months, after a relapse, I went up to 2 mg, then 3 mg—anxiety off the charts. I found the dosage of 1 mg plus 0.5 mg (two prescriptions—cutting the higher dosages didn’t change the med on a molecular level) to be most effective. It was great for a long time. It was also so much better than Abilify (Abilify gave me horrible nightmares). Fast forward to 1.5 years later—I gained over 60 lbs (can’t lose anything either, even eating healthy foods—hunger unmanageable). So the weight gain is just as bad as Abilify. I am 2 weeks into tapering from 1.5 to 1 mg and have severe insomnia, body aches, joint pain, general sadness, lack of patience, and interest in usual activities. My doctor won’t do a faster tapering. I want this med out of my body ASAP. I’m done. Great short-term solution for depression, but crappy for the long term. Get the manufacturer coupon."

For Depression "I started on Rexulti at the low dose of 0.5 mg. It was really helping with my breakthrough depression. I have been taking Wellbutrin for about 2 years, and I needed a little boost. Well, 2 months later, and I gained 10 pounds. Super disappointed. The medication works, but be ready to be depressed about how much weight you've gained from it. Won't recommend."

For Depression "I was put on 0.25 mg of Rexulti to help the effect of my Lexapro. After increasing the Rexulti to 0.50, I had my first major seizure. I was taken to the hospital, and they said it was probably a non-epileptic seizure. I called my doctor, who said it could not be caused by the Rexulti and increased the dosage to 1 mg. After that, my seizures increased to three or four times a week. I weaned myself off Rexulti, and now I am seizure-free. Please be careful with this drug."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I took Rexulti for 5 months. I gained 20 lbs even doing Weight Watchers. I stopped taking it because it was not working anyway. I hate antipsychotic drugs. I have struggled with my weight for years, and they do nothing but add to the problem. I would rather learn to deal with my depression than take any more drugs at this point in my life. I just want to know how you're supposed to feel good while gaining weight. I don't understand that concept at all. For people who need these types of medications, that's fine. But after trying this drug and struggling with my weight, I am totally finished with all antipsychotic medications, but this is just me. I would not recommend this to anyone who has weight issues whether you feel good or not."

For Depression "This is my 3rd time trying Rexulti. Honestly, the first 2 times I took this medication, my other psychiatrist only gave me 2 mg. It did not work for me. But, I switched psychiatrist, and they gave me 4 mg for my depression. What a major difference. I am on Weight Watchers Freestyle, and I actually lost 3 lbs on this medication while doing this program. Yes, it can cause weight gain. But, as soon as I started taking this medication, I immediately went on Weight Watchers Freestyle. The only thing is my sugar was high when I got blood work. You really need to watch your sugar when on this medication and eat a healthy diet. People say this medication causes weight gain, so you have to be really careful and watch what you eat."

For Depression "I’ve read these reviews, like you, desperately hoping that I could find a medication that worked for me. I’m ultra-sensitive to psych meds, am a slow metabolizer, and can’t take any SSRIs or SNRIs. I’ve had anxiety and depression for 23 years that started postpartum, and I am a 56-year-old female. Rexulti, when added to my AD Nortriptyline, worked in 3 days to calm the agitated, panicky anxiety I was still struggling with. I take it in the morning, 0.5 mg, and I don’t have any side effects. First time ever! I urge sensitive people to try this! God bless all of you that are struggling and trying!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've taken several antidepressants, and had restlessness with Abilify. Now I'm taking Wellbutrin and Rexulti (1mg) and I feel wonderful. I feel like my old self again. I'm thirty years old and haven't felt this good since I was probably 19. Really good med. No side effects so far."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This drug is good for me. I usually have a bad mood and lack of motivation. But I finally got the right dosage for my MDD. My psychiatrist adjunct brexpiprazole (Rexulti) 2 mg and escitalopram 20 mg, adding methylphenidate 5 mg for motivation in the morning. In the night, I take 50 mg quetiapine to have better sleep. It works well to give me a good stable mood, enough for me to do daily routine activities. But the side effect is my weight is increased. I have been in this condition for 15 years. My first psychiatrist diagnosed me with schizoaffective because of my mood disorder. The second psychiatrist diagnosed me with bipolar. And the latest psychiatrist diagnosed me with MDD."

For Major Depressive Disorder "As a 'thick file' patient, after nearly thirty years of suffering through dozens of combinations of drugs for TRMDD, and this little gem has had an impact far exceeding any other treatment. One milligram Rexulti as an adjunct to 60 mg mirtazapine/200 mg bupropion has given me a chance to move forward. Reduced dependency on alprazolam, nicotine, ethanol in the first thirty days. Am hoping fervently that there's not a 'poop-out' potential with Rexulti, and am making hay while the sun shines. My psychiatrist is shaking his head, having seen likewise highly significant movement in a good number of long-time treatment-resistant patients, because 'on paper, it looks just like Abilify'. Not placebo effect in my case."

For Depression "I am one of those people who went through every antidepressant ever (Paxil, Pristiq, Effexor, Wellbutrin, etc.). Finally, I landed on Prozac. I felt much better, but far from okay. After several months, Rexulti was added. I am one of the lucky ones, I suppose, because within hours I knew I had just won my own personal lottery - a medication combination that worked for me. I now know what I have never known my whole life - what it's like to feel normal. I feel like this drug combination saved my life. My wife and kids do too. Best of luck to those struggling, because it took me 36 years to get the combination right. I tried it all. I recommend trying this combination to all. If it doesn't work, keep trying. It's worth the frustration when you feel it for the first time - normalcy. It is expensive unless you are willing to fill out the paperwork and get it for free."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on Lexapro, and that seemed to stop working. I then went on Cymbalta 120mg/day, and it helped, but I can get very angry episodes. I've been depressed for 15+ years after an abusive, sociopathic husband. Now, divorced and was a bit happy, but it didn't last. Still had anger issues and no patience for anything, especially kids. I tried Abilify with no results. I have been on Rexulti for about a week, and the elevated mood is amazing! I feel like my old self from 20 years ago. I'm laughing, making homes, smiling, singing, and having great thoughts about the future. Loss of appetite (a good thing for me), but it might just be hormonal. I have much more energy, and I'm thanking my doctor for introducing me to this elation! I hope every one of you can get the same!!"

For Depression "I was on this for a depressive episode / delusions. The side effects doctors won’t tell you about that happened to me: high blood sugar, high blood pressure, fast weight gain, lethargy, heart palpitations, constant panic attacks, insomnia, migraines, stomach and digestive issues, and much, much more that ruined my entire summer. BTW: it only “works” for two weeks to a month, then it stops completely, as shown by literally half of the reviews on this. Disgusting. Put in more research before shoving experimental antipsychotics into people's mouths whenever they even feel a tad bit sad."

For Depression "I have had depression for years. I have ADHD also. I take Wellbutrin, Adderall, and Trazodone for it all. I have been on Rexulti for 3 weeks now. I have not gained any weight. I have lost 10 lbs so far with WW on it. I am a full-time college student. Rexulti has helped me more with my ADHD symptoms. It has helped with my concentration also. I am glad they finally have come out with something that I am able to actually lose weight on."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Changed my life. Been on Prozac and Klonopin for years for depressive and anxiety disorders, added Rexulti recently after I told my psych about how I'm not depressed, but I still feel 'flat,' very anhedonic. My sleep was also still bad despite being on trazodone. I feel pleasure again, and I laugh, and my emotions range much more high than they previously did. Sleeping great. Was terrified to take since this is an 'atypical antipsychotic,' but alas, no side effects. I gained about 7 pounds, in which I'd say is from being happy and healthy and enjoying food again. Not sure how well this works for anxiety since Prozac and Klonopin already helped my anxiety tremendously. Give this a try."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This is the miracle drug of the year. It starts working on day 4. My Pdoc says they are using it in the psychiatric ER because it works so fast. I had been suffering with MDD for 16 years. I have tried almost every single drug and every combination without results. Currently taking 0.5 mg with Paxil 30 mg. It feels almost like euphoria mixed with a shot of energy."

For Major Depressive Disorder "After trying 10 different meds from several classes over the past year for depression and anxiety, nothing was working. They'd all make me go 'crazy' or I'd have just about every possible side effect you could think of. I was close to giving up but my doc wanted me to try Rexulti. For the first time ever, I had no side effects and I was much happier. I wake up and I'm able to actually get out of bed and go on with my day with no problem! I still get depressed and anxious once in a while. But overall, this is amazing."

For Schizophrenia "I was taking this for ADD. Right now, I had to stop taking it. The doc was giving me samples and I ran out, waiting for my insurance company to give the okay. This medication has changed my life. My thinking is very scattered, like there's a radio on in my head. It's like the Rexulti shut the radio off, I can think so clearly. My thinking is not jumping around when I am on it. I look forward to things, not bored. I want to try new things. Organizing comes so easy."

For Major Depressive Disorder "30 plus years of MDD and many different drugs and combos. This is the only thing I've taken where I don't feel like I am fighting my depression on a daily, hourly, sometimes 'minutely' basis. Life is still life - with ups and downs, but I am feeling more like the person I was meant to be without MDD. Much more social, confident, proactive. More open in general to other people and relationships. I take 2mg with Cymbalta."

For Depression "Rexulti works if you are in a rough spot, but I have gained 80 lbs using this. My brain works, but the weight gain is not healthy for me. My doctor and I have agreed to discontinue this medication and are looking into alternatives. I lost 15 pounds the first week I lowered my dosage in half. I will continue to reduce the dosage until it is out of my system. Anyone that uses this, I would recommend keeping tabs and seeing what effect it has on your body during the first few months."
