For Schizophrenia "For the first week I took this, I had some nausea and very intense sleepiness that made me take one and even two naps during the day. But I changed the time of day I took it, and that seemed to help. For the first month, I was so happy and a lot less delusional. I'm not quite sure where it all went wrong. Now, my delusions have worsened, I've developed an intense phobia of driving and being in a car in general. I have many intrusive thoughts, and honestly, I'm considering stopping it. Which sucks because it worked there for a while. I wouldn't say don't take this medicine, but pay attention to your body and be wary of any anxiety you're experiencing, and talk to your doctor to get a handle on it before it gets out of hand."

For Major Depressive Disorder "So I was taking Rexulti for about 4 months, and I had to get taken off it. When I first started taking it, I felt so much better, I thought, hey, this will work, but nope. After a month, I started having slight anxiety, and when my doctor increased the Rexulti, the anxiety got worse to the point where I couldn't drive at all because I was so scared of getting into an accident or my car suddenly stopping in the middle of the road. When I woke up in the morning during the week when my dad had already gone to work, I had to check every room in the house to make sure no one had gone inside, and when I had to go into a dark room by myself, I was scared that someone was around the corner ready to kill me. I'm off it, and the anxiety is less but not gone."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been on Rexulti 1 mg for a year after being on Abilify for a year or longer, taken off because it didn't work and I gained a lot of weight. I feel more depressed (crying for no reason), no energy, and I am having more anxiety attacks. I have also gained 20 more pounds. I want off. I am also on Fetzima and Klonopin."

For Depression "I am on week 4 of Rexulti. I have to say it has gotten me up and on my feet. Unfortunately, it has made my anxiety so bad I feel like I am standing on the edge of a cliff trying to decide which way to turn to stop the discomfort. I have chest pain and just a general unease. No way to relax, so I will be stopping this medication as of today."

For Major Depressive Disorder "In the beginning, it was great. I live with TRMDD, PTSD, and ADD. I put on 25 lbs in the 6+ months on Rexulti. I was constantly uncomfortable and the heaviest of my life. I was in a 'haze' constantly, happy on the outside but miserable on the inside. Slowly built up to 3 mg, but it was never as good as those first few weeks at 0.5 mg. I have decided to quit Rexulti, and the discontinuation symptoms are horrible. Agitation, flu symptoms, anxiety... My stomach has never hurt worse in my life, and my insomnia is devilish. The bad of discontinuation overshadows the small amount of good in the beginning. I do have moments of sanity since discontinuation; air moving past my body feels good, combing my hair feels good, little things like this that let me know I'm doing what my body truly needs. I would recommend staying at the lowest dose for as long as possible... or avoiding it altogether."

"This medication made me have an opposite effect. I became more anxious and violent and had to stop taking the medication after one day, but I have a friend on the exact same thing with a higher dose, and they like the medication, really just varies on the person."

For Depression "Bad. Feel restless and have anxiety attacks, also gaining weight. Have no energy and have to drink 3-4 cups of coffee every day just to stay awake and not crash my car driving to work. For me, not a good med. Tried Abilify, Seroquel, and Depakote in the past for anger and irritability, and those are as bad, if not worse, than the Rexulti. Been on 20 mg Lexapro for anxiety, depression, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) for about 10 years, but it's not working very well anymore. Doctor suggested Latuda, going to try that next."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on Rexulti for 4 days, and I hate it. The first couple of days were fine. I felt like my old self. Now I have restless legs and anxiety. I’m paranoid about gaining weight too. I have struggled with my weight my whole life and don’t want to have to worry about that."

For Major Depressive Disorder "MDD/ADD/ANXIETY. I take Cymbalta/Concerta and we just added Rexulti/Xanax for anxiety. While taking the starter pack, it seemed to help a lot. I was restless with sleeping. After getting to 1 mg, my world changed. For the worse... My anxiety quadrupled. OCD was rampant! (Although my house was cleaner, I was beyond stressed out.) I had excessive guilt over ridiculous things. I cried many times because I couldn't de-stress without self-medicating with alcohol. My impulsivity was out of control! I called my doctor, and he said to stop taking it. I'm day two off of it, and I am officially exhausted. I can barely keep my eyes open, and all I want to do is sleep."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on Rexulti for over 8 months. At first, I started feeling better than I've felt in years. I had more energy, laughing more, and generally felt like I was having a better quality of life. Then I started to have anxiety and felt on edge. I feel like I could go postal on anyone. I've said and done things that I would have never done before. I have bad thoughts and have become just so down. I have decided to stop Rexulti. I'd rather be depressed than feel as though I have lost control over myself."

For Depression "Within a few days, I started having thoughts of self-harm (wrists) - completely unheard of for me, being interested in committing crimes/anti-social behavior (once again, completely unheard of for me), and it upped my intrusive thoughts about feces. I had to stop after 5 days. That was 2 days too long. I wanted to wait it out. I have a tendency/history of trying to be fair and waiting things out. This med or class of med isn't for me. I'm trying to get off Latuda by switching to something similar, as Latuda gives me panic/anxiety. For reference, I'm long-term on Pristiq 150mg/day for depression and intrusive thoughts, and about 1/3 of the year on 750mg Divalproex to be more positive about things and not so 'downer.' I'm a mid-30s middle-class perfect-life-on-paper woman who can't work very much due to extreme fatigue and now recently medication mischief while my psychiatrist tries to find an antipsychotic med for my Bipolar type 2."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I began Rexulti about 7 weeks ago (also on Lamictal, Cymbalta, and different benzodiazepines), increasing slowly every 2-3 weeks. By the time I hit 3 mg, everything swung out of control with my anxiety, OCD, compulsive thoughts, and sleep - I was all out of whack. My initial experience was pleasant - my mood stabilized quickly and I had more energy. Sleep was better, yet some pretty vivid dreams which initially I could manage. By the time I hit 3 mg (after initially blaming some life stressors for increased anxiety), I realized it was when I bumped to 2 mg that my anxiety, OCD, and sleep problems were amplified even further. So I am going off the med now. Side effects were too severe..."

For Major Depressive Disorder "So, Rexulti worked great at relieving my depression. I felt better than I had in years. Unfortunately, after just 4 weeks on 0.5 mg, it started making my muscles spasm and my jaws clench really tightly. I told my psychiatrist, and she took me off it. I’m on day 4 of withdrawals, and I am doing horribly! I have muscle spasms, muscle weakness, anxiety, and severe agitation! I wish I had never taken this medication."

"This was a game-changing medication for me. I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, later changed to bipolar 1. I was a zombie from the medication combination I used to be on, Zyprexa and Depakote. Changing the Zyprexa to Rexulti gave me my life back. At first, it gave me side effects of dizziness and anxiety, but after stopping and trying again, it's given me energy, concentration, and the mood swings and psychosis stopped. I'm very happy with this medication. I just upped the dosage from 2 mg to 3 mg after being on it for a year and a half."

For Depression "I have been on Paxil for 20 years, and it slowly lost its effectiveness. Suicidal thoughts, past mistakes haunting me, wondering what the neighbors think, I don't even know my neighbors that well. Tried Wellbutrin, but it was too hard on my eyes, totally lost appetite. Now I take 20 mg of Paxil and 0.5 mg of Rexulti, and after about a week, I feel much better, still a little paranoid, but that's life, I guess. You will eat more, but I think that's better than not eating."

"Rexulti has changed my life. Ex-Australian Army, took me 10 years to get help and diagnosed with PTSD. I had anger outbursts, anxiety, mild depression, ADD, and other symptoms which I thought were normal. My doctor prescribed me Rexulti, and I started on 0.5 mg, and wow, it worked straight away. It's like I didn't know what normal felt like before. Everyone notices how calm I am. Little things used to set me off. This drug levels out your dopamine. After 2 weeks, I had to up to 1 mg because it wasn't quite working for 24 hours. Then 2 mg after 4 weeks. I've stayed on 2 mg now, and it's helped a lot. I'm lucky the government covers this for veterans, I pay $6 AUD a packet. I've noticed a small bald patch in my beard, but it's not bothering me. The pros definitely outweigh the cons."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This stuff works - simply amazing. I've been struggling with MDD for over two years, and .5 mg Rexulti got me moving again, slowly moved up to 2 mg with my 150 mg of venlafaxine. Amazing. Only complaint is the weight gain. I do have some anxiety, but that is controlled well with lorazepam and diazepam."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I’m so very happy to finally say something that works! At 50, I was ready to get off all meds and say forget them. I tried Rexulti (along with my antidepressant), and that agitation I’ve walked around with has subsided. I myself have lost weight. Anxiety is better-not great, but better. Just an all-around great experience. Thank you guys so much! I have a life again."
