"2020 - had total knee replacement surgery which prompted 5 miserable days of continuous hiccups. No sleep, no rest and was becoming depressed. One single dose of Baclofen 10mg and the hiccups were cured. 2024 - had knee revision surgery which caused 2 continuous days of hiccups. I begged the Hospital Doctor to prescribe Baclofen. Unfortunately, he tried chlorpromazine which did not work. Eventually, he agreed to try Baclofen. One 10mg dose cured the hiccups."

"Had abdominal surgery Sept 23rd, 2013. Developed intractable hiccups immediately afterward. Unable to resolve them. After 2 months, went on Baclofen 20 mg every 6 hours, they stopped, have now tapered back to 20 mg every 12 hours, still under control, and will cut dose again. This is the only medicine that worked."

"Had unbearable hiccups for a week straight due to severe acid reflux. It was so bad that I was getting maybe 2 hours of sleep a night. Went to see my gastro, and he prescribed baclofen 5 mgs (3 x daily). It took about 6 hours to kick in, and I had to double up my dose (10 mg), but the hiccups finally have subsided. Thank goodness for this medication because having recurring hiccups for a week straight was miserable."

"My husband has a history of GERD and recently caught bronchitis, which triggered five agonizing days of persistent hiccups. The combination of GERD and bronchitis made the hiccups unbearable, disrupting his sleep and severely affecting his mental state due to exhaustion. Our primary care physician prescribed a PPI and baclofen, and I cannot express how grateful we are for baclofen. Within 30 minutes of taking the first 10 mg dose, his hiccups completely stopped, allowing him to finally get some much-needed rest. About four hours later, the hiccups briefly returned, but another 10 mg dose resolved them entirely."

"Had hiccups 10 times an hour; often to the point of hindering breathing. Lasted two days before I sought medical help. Nurse practitioner prescribed baclofen. Two pills and it was gone. 10 mg. Amazing. I have most of the prescription left, which I will keep."

"I had hiccups continuously for 5 days due to antibiotics used for fever. A lot of medicines were used, but in vain. Ultimately, only one baclofen 10 mg tablet was the cure for my hiccups, and they stopped."

"Chronic hiccups. Idiopathic. Failed gabapentin, Lyrica, chlorpromazine. Responded initially to 20 mg twice a day. However, to maintain effect, have needed to increase to four times a day a dosing. It definitely works, but doses higher than 100 mg create insomnia. Wish there was a longer-acting version, but it is a very inexpensive medication."

"Have had intractable hiccups for months 24/7, which generally culminate in vomiting in the late evenings. Tried gabapentin - no effect. Tried Reglan - also no effect. Finally, baclofen 20-30 mg every 6 hours did the trick. Initial Rx was for 10 mg every 8 hours, but that low a dose did nothing. 80 mg per day made life tolerable and minimized the hiccups, although I can still feel them lurking just under the surface."

"About twice a year, I get a bout of intractable hiccups that last for 6 weeks or longer. I learned a great trick that works temporarily to stop them (would probably cure a normal acute bout of them). I discovered that 20 mg of Baclofen will do the trick for a while. I usually have to repeat it three times a day, although a hiccup or burp might slip through in between doses. If it’s caused by GERD, like mine, taking Pepcid or Nexium does help."
