For Herbal Supplementation "This made me feel really great for one day. Then the next 4 or 5 were not so good. Headache, a wired feeling, bad sleep, slightly nauseous. The respected brand I took had a lot of milligrams in a single pill. Too much from what I now understand. From the way I felt, I suspect it stimulated my thyroid. That's one thing it does. I personally wouldn't try it again, even at a lower dose. Herbs affect everyone differently. This is not for me."

For Herbal Supplementation "I have autism, which comes along with a whole lot of anxiety. This really helps me feel much less unhinged, and I've never had any side effects from it. It also helped me quickly taper off a high dose of a very addictive antidepressant (Paxil). Still good to check potential interactions before doing anything like that yourself, of course."

For Herbal Supplementation "After 8 months of failed anxiety meds and 6 months of failed depression meds, I started taking St. John's Wort and Ashwagandha along with the Wim Hof breathing technique and cold water therapy. I cured my depression and anxiety. I am so, so happy. I even stopped taking gabapentin because I haven’t had a TN flare. My body has a natural high now since my body had been depleted of happy hormones."

For Herbal Supplementation "I initially tried this for anxiety. After one dose at bedtime, the next day I was literally unable to leave my bed. I couldn't focus and felt horrendous. I would never touch ashwagandha ever again! I have a list of things I avoid: St. John's wort, ginseng, ashwagandha, ginkgo biloba, Rhodiola rosea, L-theanine, and others. Basically, avoid any of these. Adaptogens mess with your mood in dangerous ways. I've tried them all, so I am aware of how drastically they can alter mood and induce severe panic attacks."

For Herbal Supplementation "If you have anxiety, depression, or panic attacks: Within a short time of use of natural ashwagandha supplement (expensive stuff), my anxiety and mood dramatically changed to the worst state I ever was before! Stomach problems, tension headache, tiredness/fatigue, nausea, and that is just a few... Some of us are sensitive to these 'natural adjusters' and have a paradoxical reaction on us."

For Herbal Supplementation "I started seeing a Naturopathic doctor for digestion issues, but since I filled out a lengthy questionnaire saying I have ADHD and anxiety (it’s mild), he decided to put me on ashwagandha 500 mg tablets twice a day, which is 2000 mg! I didn’t notice any difference until after 30 days, then, for over 2 weeks, I didn’t realize what was wrong with me. I became extremely irritable, everything seemed to bother me, and I was way more emotional than a bad case of PMS. I became moody and upset at my boyfriend for everything. My expectations were high, and I was breaking up with him, which made me a very bitchy person. I have no idea if it helped my sometimes racing brain at night. I finally guessed it wasn’t PMS, it could be this herb, so I reduced my dosage to half, which helped until I saw the doctor, who said to stop taking it, it could have adverse effects in people. Ugh. I can’t take back the things I said... I will never take this again."

For Herbal Supplementation "Heard about this from a friend. I suffer from anxiety, so I started off with drinking water with ashwaganda at around the same time I was losing my mother to chronic COPD. It increased my anxiety, and I was confused, also shortness of breath, as an effect of my mother's death. But it has been some time now, and still no better. I, for the first time, bought the pill form, and within 3 days, it became a nightmare. My anxiety and crazy racing thoughts-I said to my wife, it's got to be this ashwaganda. I stopped taking it, and I feel back to my old self! Not for me!"

For Herbal Supplementation "I took 1000 mg KSM-66 Ashwagandha, and on the second day of taking it -- about an hour after I swallowed it -- I had trouble breathing and had a really high resting heart rate (104 bpm according to my watch). I have not taken it again, nor will I for this reason."

For Herbal Supplementation "I have suffered with anxiety for many years, and as I am a minor, my guardians have prevented me from accessing therapy or anything beyond over the counter. Ashwagandha has helped significantly and allows me to function at a more normal level compared to my peers. I am able to participate and even converse without shutting down. Taking the recommended dose in gummy form, I am fine, taking it at a higher dose does cause me to be drowsy and shut down a bit, unwanting to do anything."

For Herbal Supplementation "I began using Ashwagandha a year after suffering a serious stroke, mainly to improve my mental health, but also to see if it would reduce my blood pressure. I'm taking Nature's Answer Ashwagandha tincture but started with only 2 drops per night (70 mg) and not the 1 ml / 33 drops advised on the bottle, as I'm very sensitive to meds. The first effect was uninterrupted sleep, which was great. Over the span of 2 weeks, I found my mood lighten - things didn't hit me like they usually did; I was able to laugh things off. I was also feeling warmer, which was great in winter! I increased the dose up to 4 drops (140 mg). My intense spasticity seemed better; it was still there, but it wasn't making me lament it and cry over it. My energy level rose, and I found myself more invested in my rehab recovery. I did notice, though, that my hair/scalp and upper back were oily. I've read that it can be a side effect as part of the increase of testosterone levels. Sleep escaped me, and I stopped it to see the difference."

For Herbal Supplementation "I have had tons of low thyroid symptoms and a new awful perimenopause-induced anxiety. I tried ashwagandha, and it was like a miracle for me! Within 48 hours, my anxiety was gone. I have been doing 450 mg BID for 2 months now. My low thyroid symptoms are much improved: fatigue, cold intolerance, dry skin, itchy shins. The change is so dramatic that I am struggling to adapt to not feeling that tight, vibrating anxiety all the time. How do I function without it? It was what drove me through my daily tasks when I had so much fatigue. I am still adjusting to a new normal, but what a relief."

For Herbal Supplementation "Been diagnosed with harm OCD, severe anxiety. I'm on Prozac and gabapentin. I run out of gabapentin for anxiety now and then, and ignorant doctors won't give me benzodiazepines, so trying ashwagandha when I run out of gabapentin."

For Herbal Supplementation "I have been taking ashwagandha 1x a day, 470 mg at night along with GABA 1x a day, 500 mg for 8+ months. I have been suffering from anxiety and depression my whole life. I read online about both of the supplements and didn’t think they would work. The first 4 months I took 450 mg ashwagandha and 1000 mg GABA pills in the morning and felt tired and exhausted the whole day, and my anxiety was a bit under control but nothing too drastic. I switched the routine and took the pills at night. It helped with the tiredness and my anxiety was getting better. I messed with the dosage and started taking 1 pill of each supplement daily before bed, and after 5 months, my anxiety and depression drastically changed. I have never in my life not had anxiety. But I finally felt free of anxiety. I was able to talk to strangers and concentrate without worrying about anything or anyone. For the first time, I felt like I was in control of my mind. My brain fog was also gone. I highly recommend both."
