For Fatigue "Please be careful with this drug -- it is incredibly easy to abuse/get addicted to. However, chronic fatigue (CFS) has next to no treatments/cures, so my doctor started me on Adderall (instant release, 20mg) 2 years ago. (Note: I have never increased my dose and probably never will.) CFS can make you feel like you're useless because you're so tired you feel useless to society. You feel like your life slips away from you slowly, and you start to blame yourself and become depressed because of it. Adderall helps me to live and actually enjoy my life. I think we all deserve that much. Side effects for me are mild but: slight social awkwardness, decreased appetite, unstable blood sugar, fast heartbeat, some anxiety, dry eyes. Still worth it for me."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine "I am so confused but feeling better just knowing I am not alone. I am very sensitive to any changes in medication. I have been on 10 mg twice daily for about 10 months. The pharmacy has switched generic brands multiple times. I did well on one made by Sun Industries but am not doing well on Teva. Apparently they make the name brand which I didn’t know until tonight. I would also like to know how we can change the way generics are approved. The variations are laughable and can really cause problems. I’m hesitant to switch to a different generic because what always happens is they stop making it or the pharmacy can’t get it. I requested name brand so at least it’s consistent. Any suggestions? So frustrated! Best to you all."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I’ve been taking the generic version of Adderall for about 2 years now. I was tired all the time and couldn’t focus. I felt like a slug, and when I had energy, I still had brain fog and had a hard time studying. In class, I would fidget in my chair, doodle, and listen to lectures, but nothing would stick in my head, no matter how long I studied. I was prescribed the 7.5 mg tablet once a day, and just the small dose did wonders for my energy levels and let me focus and actually get things done. It helped me talk in social situations and gave me a mood boost. That being said, the generics changed a couple of times. And I’m not sure, but I think I can tell a difference between them. After the pill wears off, my head aches, my legs throb, my body aches, and I’m nauseous and feel sick. I have flu-like symptoms, which are miserable. It’s sad because it’s a really small dose and helps me so much, but some of the side effects suck. You just gotta see what’s worth it to you."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have been taking Adderall for two years and it has probably saved my life. I had been misdiagnosed as bipolar with no comorbid ADHD, and was prescribed benzodiazepines and antidepressants. I eventually became suicidal when Abilify was added, and was lucky enough to have a moment of clarity and changed doctors and hospital affiliates. The week I was started on ADHD meds, I started to become the person I should be. I only wish I could have been diagnosed as a child, I feel I missed half my education. I can now focus all day, keep a train of thought long enough to finish mundane to complex tasks, and have written and recorded an album of music that had been completed but in disarray. No side effects, no weight loss or changes in eating habits."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I suffer from a fairly severe case of ADHD, and take 30 mg Adderall XR daily. Having been on this medication for quite a few years now and taking an almost 7-month break from Adderall, I've gained a better understanding of myself both on and off the drug. Adderall gives me a balance in every sense of the word. It helps me regulate my emotions, gives me the focus I lack, and allows me to feel whole inside. I also feel that it helps me with connecting to others. With impulsivity as a main symptom of my ADHD and one that gets me in a lot of trouble, Adderall helps me to be more mindful when I am communicating myself to the people that I care about. Aside from the mild appetite suppression, this drug really does wonders for people like me."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I have been diagnosed with ADD. I have always pushed myself to get good grades and to take as many AP and honors classes as I can handle. I enjoy learning about new things; however, my lack of focus got in the way of my learning. It bothers me when people say ADD/ADHD is made up. I know that people who don't have this disorder can't truly understand what it's like. Without Adderall, my mind is foggy, and I can't take the fog away to learn about the things that I love. All my friends know that I have a strong passion for physics and astronomy, but it's very hard for me to pick up a book without forgetting most of what I read after I finished it. On Adderall, I feel like the fog fades away and my mind is like a clear sunny day. Oh, how I wish that I didn't have to take this every day and just naturally be as focused. I am just an 18-year-old who is trying to pursue her dreams, but without this medication, I'm not sure how I can get through college to learn what I love. I can now look through my telescope at the stars without the clouds getting in the way."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "I was diagnosed with a sleep disorder/excessive daytime sleepiness, and my physician prescribed me Adderall. After I found the dose that worked best for me (30mg in the morning and 10-20mg in the afternoon), I felt like a new person. I usually sleep anywhere from 12-18 hours a day when I don’t have classes or work (I don’t have to force myself up on these days with 2 alarms). I can still nap, but they are not nearly as long as they used to be (3-8 hours). My grades have improved, and most importantly, my attendance of class has improved! I used to sleep through class, but now I can go because my body isn’t begging for sleep. Overall, it is an extremely helpful drug to treat narcolepsy/excessive daytime sleepiness. I finally feel like I have my life back! My only complaint is the dry mouth I experience every so often. I also still feel rather tired some days, but it is not as NEAR as torturous as it used to be. Overall, it is extremely helpful, and it has changed my life for the better."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "This may be a little long, so I hope you took your medicines today. LOL. This is my 3rd month on Adderall, and it is absolutely a miracle drug for me. I have suffered from extreme fatigue and excessive sleepiness since I was a teenager. I'm 38 now. My doctors have tried me on everything from sleeping pills to antidepressants, but nothing worked. A friend suggested Adderall. I researched it, talked to my doctor about it, and we tried Provigil first, which did help, but I was still falling asleep while driving and reading, etc. I switched to Adderall. I was so happy I nearly cried when I told my doctor how much better I feel. I wish I had tried this years ago."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine "I was on Adderall XR with an evening IR booster dose for 2 years. It worked great at first. My brain was so quiet that I could think intentionally. My panic-anxiety left... turns out, it was caused by incessant brain chatter. I was so relieved that I almost cried. As time went on, I realized I had few feelings. No joy, no warmth. Life had become a series of tasks, which I was doing far better with Adderall, but at what cost? 2 months ago, I realized, 'I can't do this anymore.' I had lost that warm, fuzzy feeling when my child bounces in with a new project she's proud of, or comes home so proud of her A on a math test she had struggled with. Am I better without it? My home is more messy, my errands/calls are falling behind from forgetfulness. I can't hear myself think sometimes. But I'm human again, and able to be the warm, loving mother I need to be. It was great short-term (1 yr) to get me back on track. But after, it stole my humanity."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "All the generics are horrible. Teva, who acquired Barr, has not improved. The brand is Teva - generic does not work. I want something comparable to original Barr. I'm struggling and drowning back into depression - generics are not the same. FDA doing nothing to help all of us that are struggling."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Lannett XR made me feel the same way all of you did. My pulse was racing. I couldn't find the motivation within me to do anything. I felt flat and emotionless. I was overall just highly sedated. It also caused horrible stomach aches and headaches. The dizziness was unbearable, as was staying up for hours at a time with no clear task in sight."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine "I've been taking Adderall for several years and have never experienced the problems I've recently had in obtaining the medication. I've tried several generic brands (Alvogen Inc., Sunrise Pharmacy, Mallinckrodt, and others), and all the generics have little to no effect on alleviating symptoms. Teva and Sandoz brands are definitely the most effective. Hope this shortage ends soon!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was 23 when I was diagnosed with ADHD. Started Adderall. I take 30 mg of SR a day and the difference is phenomenal! I get up with ease because I know I can tackle all tasks with astounding motivation and actually enjoy doing tedious work. I am co-morbid with anxiety, rumination, and I was highly neurotic. I found myself aggressive, quick-tempered, and easily abusing marijuana and alcohol. This all changed with Adderall. I am rational, reflect on situations in a positive light, and generally just a more helpful and kind person. Adderall completely saved my professional and personal life. Side note, it can cause erectile dysfunction, but it will go away after your body is used to the cycle."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "I have been on D-Amphetamine Salt Combo, 30mg a day for a few months for narcolepsy and actually did great. But I recently picked up another prescription and noticed this brand is called Teva generic brand. I have noticed for 2 weeks I have become irritated, forgetting easily in what I was looking for or talking about, aggressive outbursts, stomach pain, migraines, generally not feeling good on this brand. I will be complaining over this!"

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Adderall XR does exactly as it's supposed to do, with little to no side effects for me. I've been on it a long time, and my work performance, impulsiveness, and cleanliness are all improved. I do not interrupt and can retain things better when having a conversation or reading. I used to talk to people and zone out, thinking about four different things at one time. I would blurt out inappropriately and used to live like an absolute slob. My ADHD has impacted my social life, my home life, and work life. It has helped me get my life in order, act better socially, and helps with my depression at the same time. I have no problem eating or sleeping on this med. I have a tolerance and tolerate it well."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy "It makes a huge difference in my day! I hate having to take something every day to stay awake and alert, but better than living in the fog I was in the past 8 years of my life (6 of which I didn't even notice they were side effects of something bigger, haha). Things you may notice while taking Adderall with narcolepsy: 1. You stop being a shut-in. 2. You actually start calling your friends to do something instead of getting harassed till you finally cave and do something. 3. You're better at work and all of a sudden care about your job. 4. You are grinding your jaw. 5. Stop grinding your jaw, and finally 6. Work with your doctor for the right dosage! There will be a bit of dancing between cracked out and half asleep till you find it."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I am diagnosed with Concurrent Concussion Syndrome with ADD symptoms. I took Vyvanse for over a year, and I thought I loved it, until I realized it gave me anxiety because I was trying to cram 16 hours' worth of homework and chores into the short period of time the medication worked. My neurologist had me switch to taking Mydayis, and I have loved it because I do not feel the 'high' that Vyvanse gives you, and in turn, I also do not feel the medication slowing down either. Now, I still take it at 5:30 am, but I can do homework or concentrate on other tasks well past 8 or 9 pm. Advantages: - long-lasting - continuous feeling throughout the day (no ups and downs) Disadvantages: - makes me not feel hungry - loss of appetite can make low blood sugar hit me all at once if I forget to eat - if I sleep in on the weekends, I can't take it because it will last too long. Hope my experience helps! I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for longer-lasting stimulants, but I know that everyone reacts to things differently, so it might not work for you."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Just started taking Adderall XR 10 mg after learning I had been misdiagnosed for 15+ years as either bipolar, major depressive disorder, and social anxiety. I finally found a psychiatrist that really dug deep and concluded I was not bipolar, but I suffered from adult ADHD (33-year-old male). It makes total sense as I read more about ADHD. I had been on every possible antidepressant, antipsychotic, MDD, etc., and was just done with meds. I was diagnosed as a child and teen but thought, “I’d grow out of it,” and apparently never did, it just got worse. I feel that so many people are misdiagnosed, it’s almost unbelievable. My theory, and the doctor also said, that if you take the medication and it calms you and your racing thoughts, that’s a telltale sign that you do indeed suffer from ADHD, it’s not just a childhood/school era problem, it disrupts your life, marriage, everything. I’m on day 2, and it’s like a light switch has been turned on, and I can relax and not be manic."

For Fatigue "I have dealt with depression, on and off, for most of my life. I have depression that is heavily marked by fatigue and is very resistant to SSRIs. In fact, SSRIs have never done anything at all for me. Upon switching to an every other day dose of 30mg/day of Dextroamphetamine, I found the depression subsided immediately. I was no longer fatigued at all. Of course, I have more energy on the days I take the medication, but I don't feel overly tired at all on the other days either. On this medication, I am able to think clearly and deal with the normal stresses of life. I do not recommend eating before, or for several hours after, taking this. I would highly recommend it for anyone who has little to no success with SSRIs or a lot of fatigue."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Was placed on Adderall XR 20mg once a day. The first month was fantastic. I could think. I had bounds of physical energy. My mood was elevated. I had problems starting with the second month. The positive effects were no longer there, and the negative ones were enhanced. I did some research and found out it was an issue with the brand. Not all generics are the same despite what everyone is told. I got Actavis brand. I found out that not only are generics allowed to differ in potency by 60-120% (40 less potent than some or 20% more potent than some), but Actavis was allowed to use its own proprietary formulation. If you are put on Adderall XR or IR, be cautious about what generic you get. Some work way better than others."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I was diagnosed with adult ADHD last summer. I had it my entire life but only realized it about 2 years ago when I started reading the DSM-5 manual (that light bulb switched on!). I have tried Vyvanse, Astarys, and Adderall XR and IR. I prefer the Adderall IR because I can partially dose on an as-needed basis, but it has improved my life and work performance immeasurably. I have taken Metoprolol for a little over 3 years and the combo worked great until about 3 weeks ago when I started getting heart palpitations, high BP, cramps, etc. After a little research (I’m a Ph.D. - research is my game), I concluded that for whatever reason my potassium levels were low. I started eating bananas, peanut butter, electrolytes, taking magnesium and potassium citrate, etc., and everything improved within 48 hours. Not sure if Adderall slowly sucks nutrients out of your system. Apart from that episode, Adderall has been great. I recommend Arginine, beets & Citrulline with it. Male, 46, 225 lbs."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I've tried several ADHD meds, and Mydayis has definitely been the best for me. I'm on the lowest dose, and it starts working 20-30 minutes after I take it. I'm then able to be productive and direct my focus easily, compared to other meds (e.g., Adderall), which gave me a burst of intense focus that I had no control over. The transitions are barely noticeable, and it really helps maintain consistent energy levels. After wearing off, it's a very natural 'I've worked all day, and now I'm ready to relax before bed' feeling (no crash). I also noticed it significantly helps manage my depression-something no other ADHD med has done. The only downsides: (1) it does reduce my appetite a lot, and (2) it only lasts about 9-10 hours on my current dose (12.5 mg), but higher doses (25 mg+) give me headaches. It's not perfect, but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives for me. Lastly, you don't know how it'll affect you, so don't let reviews scare you away if you/your doc think it might help."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Was prescribed when I was nine for ADD and ADHD. Personal opinions aside, I’ve noticed that when taken in the recommended dosage, you feel a lot more productive during work hours. During this period of productivity, I experienced some side effects such as nail biting, lip/mouth biting, anxiety, panic, and increased bowel movement. Overall, I think it can really help those who struggle with getting their work done, but these side effects can get really bad. Please be careful."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "Adderall is effective, but it comes with consequences. Both to your physical and mental health. I am 27 years old, I have taken Adderall on and off for about 10 years. Started it my freshman year of college. It was AMAZING at first! Lost that freshman 15, got straight A's, actually ENJOYED my work. Then I started noticing the crash symptoms. Tired, withdrawn, emotionless, sleepless. I stopped taking it because I hated the way it made me feel, but I realized how much more productive I am when taking it. When I start taking it again my immune system is shot, I'm constantly sick with something, I get super irritable. When I don't take it I can barely get out of bed and I always gain weight, which always sucks. It's a vicious cycle."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I've only been taking it for 3 days, but I can understand now when people say they feel it running in the background. So far, no side effects other than appetite loss. I do feel energy from this, but not like Adderall, there's no anxiety tied to the energy. It's more like motivation than energy. One thing I've noticed is that I like to always be doing something productive in some way. It's not the type of energy you get and use to dance or work out, you feel driven to get things done. It lasts for the whole 16 hours, which surprised me, I'm an ultra-rapid metabolizer. I have no crash on this like I did with Adderall. I'm just waiting for my period now to see how the cramps are and giving the medicine more time to see if I do have any side effects. So far, none, but no appetite."
