"I was prescribed Amoxicillin 875 mg, and all I can say is it made the bacteria worse. It spread further up, and when checked back with my urologist, she looked me in the face and told me that the discharge I’m seeing come out is supposed to happen because it’s pushing it out. After finishing said medication, my UTI is even worse than before."

"My stomach is feeling so bad after this medication. The whole world literally falls out of me within an hour of taking it, so, three times a day I'm running to the loo. The cramps and feeling sick aren't as bad as the diarrhea, but wow I feel awful. I have two days left to take them, so I will persevere because a UTI is just as horrendous!"

"The only side effect I have had with this is neck pain and back pain. I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, don’t think that would have an effect mixed, but I usually get yeast infections after finishing the meds even with taking probiotics, so we’ll see, this is my first time taking this one."

"So I had a UTI around 2 weeks ago, and I normally would have just taken Macrobid or Bactrim, but I had recurring UTIs in the past so they don’t work on me like they should. My mom told me this clears up UTIs fast, which is true, but it may cause a yeast infection. I got one while taking the medication, and now I have been on Diflucan and suppositories to help clear it up. If you’re wanting to take this medicine, I would recommend, just be prepared for a possible yeast infection and let your doctor know ASAP so they can give you some prescriptions of Diflucan and suppositories."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "I don't want to scare anyone away from taking this drug, but I have to be honest - Augmentin really sucked. I was prescribed it for a stubborn UTI after a 3-day course of Bactrim didn't do the job. I didn't notice many side effects (other than tiredness) at first, but by day 2, this drug had me feeling noticeably 'off', anxious, and irritable. This only worsened, and by day 4, I was feeling a constant cloud of stress and tension throughout my body that wouldn't go away. I felt extremely apathetic towards everyone around me, yet I also felt indescribably terrified that I was losing my sense of self because I felt so 'different' cognitively. The way I spoke, the way I typed, the way I thought through things - it changed, and being aware of that made it even scarier. It got so bad on day 4 that I got in a massive fight with my partner, which is completely out of character for me. It seems to have taken care of the UTI, but dear God, I never want to be on this antibiotic again."

"I’ve taken this a couple of times now. Once for a UTI after I was in the hospital and had to be straight cathed, and then the second time was for a double ear infection. Take one pill twice a day. Both times it had worked well for me! Not really any side effects other than about 1-2 after taking it, I get pretty tired. Other than that, it’s great. Be sure to take it with food before each dose, that helps a lot. Not a great idea taking it on an empty stomach."

"I was prescribed this medication (875 milligrams). This medicine at first didn’t really affect me, but after 3 days, they are kicking in. I feel dizzy, almost like high, loss of appetite, fatigue. I wake up nauseous, makes me feel extremely off with my mood (agitated, depressed), and I was only taking the pill once a day instead of twice. I’ve taken about 5 of the pills so far every day and going to stop. If my symptoms come back, will have to get a different medication… not worth it."

"I took amox/clav for three days, then spent the next ten days with a rash over every single inch of my body that itched 24 hours a day. Got rid of the UTI, but I couldn't leave the house for over a week - couldn't stand clothes on my skin. The only thing that helped was scalding water, so I showered several times a day when the Benadryl would wear off. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!"
