Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Was prescribed this Augmentin (875/125) 2 doses a day for 7 days after being misdiagnosed with a UTI and on Keflex for a week before that did nothing for my fever or pain or infection. When I was finally diagnosed with a kidney infection, I started taking Augmentin. I’m on day 3 and feeling so much better without my fever and kidney pain. However, I am having mild side effects. I get a decent headache within hours of taking each dose, and there is some diarrhea. However, taking it with food lessens those side effects, and the main thing I know is helping is taking good probiotics daily as well that has helped keep my flora balanced and prevent the thrush a lot of people experience after this medication. Very effective, just be sure to replenish the good bacteria in your system as you are taking it."

"I was really worried about taking this antibiotic after reading all of the negative reviews! However, I had to do it. I ate a PBJ and banana before taking every morning and have had ZERO side effects so far. In the afternoon, I just take it after dinner. Everyone can react differently to any medication, but don't get too caught up in all the negative reviews. People who have negative experiences are much more likely to submit a review (for anything) than positive experiences. The antibiotic worked as expected. I am so glad I was able to take this over cipro."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "So... I was so scared to take these tablets after reading the reviews. I have Crohn's disease and a very sensitive stomach, but I had a water infection for 3 weeks, which then traveled to my kidneys and made my pancreas swell, so I was prescribed these. First day I took them, I started to feel nausea. I am now on day 5 of these, and the side effects aren't as bad as what I thought. I have a bit of a fuzzy head and feeling nausea and just extremely tired. I have had no sickness or diarrhea. I think the key to this is I eat before I take the tablets, and I make sure to eat some yogurt about an hour after taking them, and I've had no problem, and that's coming from a girl who has a very sensitive stomach normally."

"I went and saw my doctor for a kidney infection, but she prescribed me medicine I didn't want to take after reading some of the horrifying side effects from the medication. Thank God I had a bottle of Amox-clav. I started taking it, and so far I'm feeling a lot better and don't have to worry about the scary side effects. Some people have trouble with taking Amox-clav, but so far I'm not having any issues. It's helped me in so many ways, for once I'm not hurting when I have to go to the bathroom. These antibiotics are a real lifesaver."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "I was prescribed Augmentin for a severe double kidney infection. Although, I took a second dose way before I was due to have it, in fact about 2 hours after the first dose, due to the fact and my reasoning to get on top of this infection. The first dose was no problems, I couldn't even tell that I had taken it. The second dose, within ten minutes, I had the worst anxiety I have ever experienced, as well as a panic attack with heart palpitations, chest pain and tightness, and the general feeling I was suddenly at the end of my life. I had the phone in one hand getting ready to call 911 with the reasoning to myself that I could have mere moments left to be able to even make the call and the other hand trying to keep my balance as I had severe shaking and muscle twitching and the sense I had little control over my own body. Never again, I would rather take my chances against the double kidney infection."

"Works fine, takes 1-3 days to work. Can be taken with food or without food. Amoxicillin with clavulanate is better than just amoxicillin on its own."

"Pain of pyelonephritis was less than pain in stomach on antibiotics, and I felt like I was drowning in stomach acid, which burned my throat raw."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate "Augmentin makes me completely sick! I must be like the 1% who is allergic to it! I always have to list it as an allergy and make sure something else is prescribed instead of this!"

"Sick, sick, sick. They are the best for my UTI, but I just can't tolerate it, even with anti-sickness drugs, so going back to the hospital for a different IV drug."
