For Sinusitis "Horrible, horrible experience. I'm a healthy (no pre-existing conditions, exercise regularly, maintain a healthy diet) female in my mid-30s. Rarely take meds, especially antibiotics, so when I do, they usually work well. I was a little nervous to take Augmentin because the dose was so strong, but the doc was adamant because I had a very severe sinus infection. By the third dose, my whole body was reacting. No relief from the sinus congestion, horrible headache, very anxious/nervous, nightmares, night sweats, zero appetite, insomnia, blurred vision, horrible, horrible yeast infection (I have never had a yeast infection in my entire life). Called the doc hysterically crying and was told to stop taking it immediately. Stay far away!!"

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed 500 mg twice a day Augmentin for a sinus infection. After the second dose, I developed BAD stomach cramps, nausea, and loose stools. I continued the Augmentin for three more days, but finally had to stop taking it due to the fact that it was completely destroying my stomach. It was working wonders on my sinus infection, but the side effects were too much to bear. Worst of all, I'm still having cramps and loose stools even though I stopped taking the Augmentin two days ago. I hope the issues resolve themselves soon and won't require a trip to my gastroenterologist. Augmentin may be fine for some people, but it's definitely NOT for me!"

For Strep Throat "So, got another strep infection. Haven't had one in a couple years. But you can always tell because you get fever and chills (like seizure shaking), pain when you swallow, and my tell-tale sign--dragon-hot fire breath. Anyway, checked my throat out and it was bright red with white spots, patches of pus. I went to urgent care on my lunch and sure enough rapid strep test positive. I was prescribed Augmentin 875 twice per day for 10 days. I just took my third pill and I already feel so much better. Wish I hadn't waited 2 days."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I feel like the people that come on here to read reviews are people like me who have anxieties about taking medications. I needed this medication for a skin infection after my C-section. I was nervous about the symptoms after reading the comments on here, but I had ZERO problems with this medication. I was prescribed 875 mg 2x daily. I made sure I ate a probiotic yogurt before starting this med and had one every day for 7 days until I was finished. I had no upset stomach or diarrhea."

For Sinusitis "Have acute sinusitis, with severe migraine, dizziness, facial pain, TMJ, eye swelling. Was prescribed Augmentin, seems to be working just after 1 day's use! I already had severe stomach ache, doc said that's normal for acute sinusitis because all the dripping from the sinuses down our throats ends up stewing in our poor bellies! So I really notice no difference with tummy ache yet."

For Bronchitis "Had bronchitis after five weeks from having CABG surgery. My doctor prescribed Augmentin and it worked after having the first pill. At this time, I am in my second day and the fever is gone, minor cough, and to my surprise, my sinuses are clearing too since I have chronic sinus allergies."

For Sinusitis "The medicine works, but watch out for the GI side effects. Go to your supermarket in the dairy section and buy the probiotic yogurt drink Yakult. It comes in a pack of 5 1 oz bottles. Drink one bottle each AM and continue for 3 days after stopping Augmentin. You will be free of diarrhea, nausea, and GI side effects. It works!!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "Augmentin has worked really well on my recent UTI. I started 2 a day Augmentin for 7 days along with copious amounts of cranberry juice (see references below) and within less than a day, temp was down from 103°F to 99°F. Pain had dropped from level 8 to a level 2 in a day. Take with yogurt or with a meal, increase fluid and fiber intake. Finish all the medicine even though your symptoms have gone after a few days. Prevention is the best approach. Do wash hands thoroughly after wiping and before any contact near your urinary tract. For Bacterial Infection "I am taking Augmentin for diverticulitis as prescribed by the ER doctor, and I feel like trash; the abdominal cramps felt better without it, and I have loose stools and sore legs and generally feel like garbage. Only 3 pills left to go."

For Bacterial Infection "This medication is freaking me out! I have sinusitis, a chest infection, and a bacterial infection. All my thoughts are super negative and snarky. I have constant anxiety and feel like doing push-ups and running a mile, but I am sick, so I can't. I can't sleep and am having hallucinations. It is, however, the only antibiotic that seems to work for me. I have an immune system disorder (hypogammaglobulinemia) and get bacterial infections anywhere often, particularly chest and sinus. Do I suck it up? Double up on antidepressants? Or 'just breathe' to lower my anxiety? ... Totally freaking out and trying not to rage. I am going to have to take time off work so I don't offend someone and ruin my career."

For Sinusitis "I get sinus infections twice a year like clockwork. I usually get a Z-pack and a couple of days of prednisone, and I'm usually better in a couple of days. This time around, I was given 875 mg of Augmentin for 10 days, along with a 10-day step-down dosage of prednisone. I took the meds as prescribed for 4 days and had to stop. I've never had such debilitating stomach pains in my life. I'm talking stomach pains, not intestinal pains. I felt so nauseated, though I never vomited once. My head felt funny, like a headache was trying to develop, and I began to sweat. It has been 5 days since I stopped taking the medications, and I am still having issues with my stomach! Never ever again! I need answers!"

For Strep Throat "This is the ONLY antibiotic I have been prescribed that cures the bacterial infection that comes along with streptococcus. Zithromax or Z-packs (azithromycin) are useless for me due to complete antibiotic resistance to that drug. Also, regular amoxicillin is ineffective due to antibiotic resistance. This medication is powerful and can cause side effects such as diarrhea, but you can take Imodium (loperamide) for that, which I highly recommend during the course of this treatment, along with drinking plenty of fluids such as water and Gatorade to maintain electrolytes. This is a 10-day course of medication and is highly effective. I recommend this as a FIRST course of treatment due to antibiotic resistance."

For Bronchitis "Cleared up a bad case of bronchitis in a week and only side effects were some coughing an hr or so after taking it as all the bacteria was dying and body getting rid of it in the mucus. Take it with food and a lot of water. It works excellent, side effects are very minor and you should also consider taking a probiotic during and after using it just take a few hrs before or after it. Very effective antibiotic!"

For Sinusitis "I found this to be a safe and effective drug. I have chronic sinusitis. A 20-day course puts the sinusitis in remission. I also have small intestine bacterial overgrowth. While I was prescribed the medication for sinusitis, I found a spectacular improvement in my acute and chronic small intestinal bacterial overgrowth."

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed Augmentin for a sinus infection. Worst medication experience of my life. I never get headaches, and after just three doses I had the worst headaches. My head throbbed. I couldn't sleep. My vision was impaired. I had excruciating stomach pains. I was far sicker than I was prior to going to the doctor. I will never take this horrible medication again. Beware of the side effects if you do."

For Bacterial Infection "Medicine worked great for double infections, a couple of days I could feel a difference. HOWEVER, side effects were terrible, still around after completing a 10-day treatment. Even with daily probiotics and yogurt, the digestive/intestinal issues were bad, constant trips to the bathroom, eating would immediately create 'stomach talk', could not leave the house, had to cancel a family trip as travel would have been difficult. I felt lethargic, weak, had blurry vision, and was exhausted, with all of this, it really affected my mentality. FYI: On the 2nd day when side effects began, I spoke with my pharmacist, who encouraged me to stay on it if I could endure these 'common' side effects, none being allergic. It has worked but still healing from side effects."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I was put on Augmentin for my upper respiratory infection and sinus infection that I had at the same time as each other. After taking it for 2 days, I was feeling 80% better. People told me to watch out for side effects such as upset stomach and loose stool. I made sure to have a yogurt before each pill I took and never had an issue."

For Bacterial Infection "I took my first Augmentin pill at 1 PM after eating a burger and at 5:30 PM. I threw up after having severe nausea and headache. I went to after hours at 6:30 PM, and they gave me medicine Zofran and then a shot for nausea and said not to take any more, that I was having a side effect to it. It did not help, and I threw up three more times when I got home. The last time was 2 AM. I do not recommend this if you have not taken it before. It has been a horrible experience."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Overall, not too bad. I had some mild nausea and diarrhea the first two or three days, but then I drank Kefir, which helped immensely. Be sure to take it as directed with some food (you don't need a whole meal) and eat yogurt, etc. I highly recommend Kefir during Augmentin therapy. I began clearing the infection by the second day. Remember, most people have little to no side effects with these medications, so what you tend to read on the Internet is negatively biased."

For Sinusitis "I felt like crap 36 hours ago (headache, toothache, congested nose) but feel SO much better after 4 doses. I should have gone to the doctor sooner. Mild impact on my digestion, but I'll take that any day in lieu of the debilitating headache and toothache I was experiencing."

For Sinusitis "I took Augmentin starting last week for a sinus infection. The first few days were fine, and I felt relief from the pressure of the infection. However, by day 5, my stomach hurt so badly, and around my body to the back. I could not eat. My stomach was rock hard, and I felt so bloated. I could only suffer through day 8. I had to stop. I cannot tolerate this medication and will never take it again."

For Sinusitis "I had a really bad sinus infection that led to bronchitis, which stemmed from bad allergies due to a dry, dusty environment and a plane ride home. I suffered for a week before heading to the doctor. I was placed on Augmentin, and after one day, I had immediate relief, and wheezing was under control in my chest. It's a wonder medication for infections!"

For Strep Throat "My doctor told me to drink it down with water and then eat yogurt or a probiotic an hour after each dose, and I never got sick. She said if you don't drink enough water, you will get diarrhea, so I drank tons and never got it. I am so happy! I had been suffering for two months."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I have adult acne and rosacea due to PCOS. I have redness, welt-type acne, rash-type scene, black/whiteheads on my face. When taking Augmentin, all my skin problems disappear within 2-5 days and my face stays clear while taking the prescription. Augmentin is a Godsend."

For Sinusitis "Suffered for almost a week before heading to the doctor. My sinus infection had gotten so bad it led to an ear infection. After trying to self-medicate for almost a week (HUGE FAIL), I finally gave in. My lovely doctor prescribed Augmentin. I started Augmentin Thursday and today I am almost feeling like myself again. No negative side effects for me whatsoever :) pretty satisfied"
