For High Cholesterol "I have been on this for a month. Two injections so far. I am 64 years old, I exercise frequently and have a history of cholesterol - total number under 200, however. Since taking this drug, I have been sluggish and fatigued. The fatigue comes and goes. Prior to taking this, I rode my stationary bike about 8 to 10 miles every other day. It is difficult to do what I regularly did prior to initiating this drug. Now, my exercise routine is tougher to do, and I am very fatigued after riding. PSk9 inhibitors appear to have an impact on my blood pressure response to exercise. Hypotension response appears amplified (I am going for a follow-up on this). Research I have read on the PSK9s like this says, however, that the impact is 'inconclusive' with respect to BP. However, I am more fatigued being on this drug. The first few days my cognitive abilities were impaired, but this did improve. I also had more frequent nighttime urination. I am not taking a third Praluent injection."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I'm a 71 yo Caucasian male with a diagnosis of PAD, atherosclerosis, and hyperlipidemia. I can't tolerate statins due to severe muscle cramping and was prescribed Praluent soon after it was approved by the FDA. Aside from minor leg cramping, which is controlled by ingesting a banana a day, and a runny nose for 24-48 hours after injection, my total cholesterol has dropped from 300+ to less than 100! I'm VERY pleased with its results!"

For High Cholesterol "My family has a genetic history of high cholesterol. I've been using Praluent since it came out after the clinical trials. We arranged a cath lab examination two years after I started taking the Praluent, and everything looked normal around the heart, with no calcium buildup other than one little speck. I've never had a stroke or heart attack. My cholesterol levels are in the normal range but were high when I was younger. Statins had too many side effects, and I stopped using them. The side effects are minimal to date. I take two injections twice a month, 150 mg each."

For High Cholesterol "Been taking 150 mg of Praluent for 2 months now. The first month was perfectly fine, had no problems as I inject it in my thigh areas. However, I got a big welt and itching in that area from the third injection. I changed the injection site to my other thigh for the fourth injection and had the same side effect. Showed my cardiologist when I went in for a follow-up, but they did not seem concerned as levels were down. I’m allergic to all statins and had to try something, will continue if this is all that happens. I can tolerate it with anti-itch cream. I will discontinue, though, if more side effects appear. Will see what happens in my third month. I’m 71 years old and have had 2 stents over 21 years. My high cholesterol numbers just jumped in the last year, possibly due to age as I’m a healthy eater and I exercise three times a week. Will update again in 2-3 months."

For High Cholesterol "I've been taking Praluent 75 for 2 months now and report no side effects. I take ibuprofen before the injection so I don't feel the small bee sting feeling in my leg. I am 70 years old and hope to take the injection forever to prevent another heart attack and a $55,000 bill for 2 days in the hospital. 10-10-2018. Express Scripts just sent me a letter approving my prescription."

For High Cholesterol "No injection site problems. I do develop diarrhea and have horrible muscle spasms in my lower back for the week following the injection. It has helped to lower my cholesterol as I have severe side effects with oral statins."

For High Cholesterol "Fifteen years ago I had two stents as I was suffering from blocked arteries and terrible angina. I was only 43 years old. I took statins for years, as much as my body could stand, as I suffered from insane muscle pain to the point where I could hardly walk. Because of this, my statin use dwindled to once or twice a week. Five years ago, with my cholesterol high again, I had a minor heart attack. I was then given Praluent, and my gosh, what a savior! Cholesterol levels down to recommended levels and no side effects. I would probably say, without exaggeration, that this drug saved me!"

For High Cholesterol "46-year-old UK male; slim, above-average fitness, eats well. Tried 3 different statins with the same intolerable brain fog, muscle pains, and palpitations over a 3-year period. 1st injection: mild muscle pains in my back, cold legs and feet, morning glory, a little brain fog, looser stools. 2nd injection: similar effects to the 1st but 50% less strong, except the morning glory and looser stools. 3rd injection: mild brain fog for an hour (starting about 2 hours after taking), cold feet, looser stools still. Not had bloods tested yet, but if LDL comes down, I'd be very happy to stay on Praluent based on these minor side effects. Very hopeful about this convenient statin alternative."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "Took Repatha for over a year, had minor side effects (runny nose only), which eventually disappeared. Then my insurance changed formularies and I had to switch to Praluent, not at all happy. Have been taking for two months, side effects include constant runny nose, fatigue, bruising, muscle pain, and pain and itching at the injection site. Would not recommend this medication. Repatha, in my opinion, is much better, unfortunately for myself, insurance will absolutely not cover Repatha."

For High Cholesterol "Injections are and have always been painless. I am going into my ninth week. Last cholesterol check my number before starting Praluent was 235. Since then, things appear much clearer, not so lightheaded as before. Blood pressure is much lower and is controlled. I am much more tired than I used to be. I also feel lethargic on the first four days following each shot. Sometimes feel faint, but again no more head fog and no more fatigue, which before Praluent was severe. If anyone is considering this drug, I would try it. I am confident that the sides of this drug are much better than the side effects of a stroke or heart attack. In closing, all good things come from the Lord Jesus, never forget that."

For High Cholesterol "After having a heart attack two years ago, my cardio doctor put me on Praluent, painless injections every two weeks in my legs, along with daily 20 mg Atorvastatin (Lipitor). Together, they both have lowered my bad LDL from 250 down to 25. I'm a 73-year-old man. I'm very happy with the results. I don't notice any side effects. I'm also happy my Mutual of Omaha drug plan Plus, which covers most of the cost 2020/2021. I'm waiting for the FDA to approve Inclisiran, twice-a-year injections, which will be much cheaper."

For High Cholesterol "Awesome stuff for me. No side effects. Cut the pravastatin in half: 40 mg pravastatin 1x daily plus 75 mg alirocumab every other week. HDL down from 399 to 85 mg/dl. Still taking the other stuff. Livolo works fairly well, but not like this. Can't tolerate ACE inhibitors, and some med put a bruise across my back within three days: instant kidney damage. Now Blue Cross wants to deny me the only med combo I could tolerate. Actually, Prime Therapeutics is doing that. Forwarding their denial to cardio and via my attorney to OAG and the state insurance board. After one 4x CABG, 3 stents, and 2 MI. Bilateral endarterectomy and original LDL around 400. I think my widow will be a millionaire as for me. We can prove this is the best and most correct treatment plan, and it did work for about 5 years until they decided they should play doctor..."

For High Cholesterol "I'm a 73-year-old man, and I've been doing the 75 mg Praluent injections now for almost 4 years with no side effects. My LDL that I get tested every 6 months is a very low 24 thanks to Praluent. When I had my heart attack 5 years ago, my LDL was a very high 250. I'm happy that my CVS Silverscript Plus pays for most of the cost. I also take 20 mg Atorvastatin daily. The painless Praluent auto injector takes about 5 seconds to inject after warming it up and pushing the auto injector button. The only thing I don't like is the high cost and having to keep the Praluent refrigerated before use. For me, there is no pain or bleeding at the injection site, which is my leg."

For High Cholesterol "I'm a 54-year-old male, average weight, healthy active lifestyle but diagnosed with hyperlipidemia. Statin drug intolerant. Been on Praluent 6 weeks. LDL went from 212 to 57, HDL from 36 to 44. Negative side effects at all. Fantastic results!"

For High Cholesterol "Fatigue, lethargy, developed varicose veins in both inner thighs best described as parallel mirror twins. The breaks were discovered during a routine annual screening by my surgeon. The tears were serious. My doctor was concerned because previous procedures on legs were minor. My cholesterol was reduced by one hundred points. My memory improved... recall... somewhat. The medicine is brutal and fatiguing. Didn't realize how draining it was until it was interrupted. My energy returned. My dosage was 150 ml injection twice monthly."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I used this drug for over a year with good results for my cholesterol, but then developed an allergic reaction to it. The first time it occurred, it was bad, but I mistook it for indigestion. The following dose, there was no doubt. A few hours after taking the shot, I became very nauseous. Had diarrhea, reflux, vomiting, and bad pain in my stomach and pancreas. Did not take it again."

For High Cholesterol "I have been using Praluent consistently since 2018 (5 1/2 years) and have not experienced one side effect from this drug. My cholesterol count reduced substantially within two months and has been maintained well within acceptable levels, ongoing. I have had annual visits to the prescribing endocrinologist, complete with blood work analysis, and all measurements have been satisfactory. Prior to being prescribed Praluent, my cholesterol count was considered ultra-high, and I had to be taken off statins as they caused memory loss. Praluent has been far more effective in reducing cholesterol and has done so with no side effects."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "Age 57. It has lowered my LDL to 62. At age 49, I had a bypass, 10 years later, a stent and then had a procedure to kill some of my extra heartbeats. I have been taking it for over a year now, and my skin feels like a bad sunburn. My throat closes off when drinking and eating now and then. My sex drive is about gone for me. When I go to sleep, I start coughing for about 10 minutes, then it stops. Throat gets dry sometimes, then coughing and mucus start running down my throat."

For High Cholesterol "I injected the 1st dose of Praluent and had no side effects, and 2 weeks later I injected the second dose. Three hours later, my whole body was experiencing terrible cramping, headaches, fever, and chills. Two days later, I was in the hospital with pneumonia (never in my life had I had pneumonia), UTI infection. I haven’t had a UTI infection in over 25 years, never before had a potassium problem, and while in the hospital, it went down."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "Having a genetically bad lipid profile, I've tried every oral statin, all giving me debilitating side effects. Zetia is minimally effective. Being on 150 mg Praluent (injection) every 2 weeks for several months, my lipid profile is completely normal for the first time in my adult life. There have been no side effects as well. It is easily injected with no discomfort."

For High Cholesterol "I have had a CV event and have very high LDL and high LPa and cannot tolerate statins. I started on Praluent and was fine right after the injection. But the first night I woke up with a very swollen tongue and lips and an extremely dry mouth and throat. Took 1/2 Benadryl, which seemed to resolve. But over the next few days, I would experience bouts of extremely high BP and flushing of my face and chest (I tend to have low BP, so this was very odd). High BP and flushing seemed to occur after any exertion, followed by extreme tiredness for a few weeks, and my doctor told me not to take the next dose. Additionally, I have had very unusual headaches, odd bruising, as well as pinpoint bleeding under my skin and bleeding (large thick clots of blood) from my nose. If I got bit by an insect, I would have rubbery clots of blood on my skin. All very strange, and I will be glad when this med has worked its way out of my system (about 40 days). FYI, I do have a lot of sensitivity to many meds, so I am not surprised."

For High Cholesterol "I've been taking Praluent 75mg for 9 months. I had experienced serious back pain after the 2nd shot for at least a week. After that, there were no side effects. Most importantly, this drug lowered my blood pressure, so I didn't need to take additional medication I had been on for years! LDL showed 100 less after 2 months on it. Recently, I had to switch to Repatha due to the fact that my insurance no longer supports Praluent. I have plenty of side effects and needed to take blood pressure medication as well. Praluent is way better, even though they are saying it's the same agent."

For High Cholesterol "1st injection was so dangerous for me, my throat started closing, my airway and barely could breathe, I broke out in large hives all over my body with severe itching. Wife rushed me to hospital treatment to take the swelling down, and by 24 hours later, the hives were still there with itching. Took about 4 days of misery for it to go away. What a bunch of poison. Stay away from this bad drug."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I am a 63 yr old female. I have cholesterol problems... My cholesterol has gone as high as 700. I had triple bypass in 2008 & 3 stints in 2017. I’m on my 6th injection of Praluent 75 mg. I requested this dose over the 150 mg to start as I’m hypersensitive to everything. I hope to eventually titrate up to the 150 mg dose. I started feeling extreme fatigue & weakness after the 4th dose. Rather than discontinue, I’m experimenting with oral liquid minerals & another product I accidentally stumbled across that supposedly helps to stabilize blood sugar. I’m doing much better. However, swimming at the gym absolutely finishes me for the day. I have no stamina after the swim. Follow-up blood test is in September. I cannot report, yet, the results of Praluent on my cholesterol levels."

For High Cholesterol "I found Praluent fairly easy to use, however, I experienced very little reduction in my levels. What I did experience was inflammation of two pre-existing weaknesses in my body-both my feet and my right elbow. Neither of these things caused me great discomfort prior to Praluent, but left me almost unable to walk, and performing normal activities with my right arm was excruciatingly painful. I could no longer safely lift things like a kettle, or whipper snip, trim hedges, etc.-things I’d always easily managed. It took me a few weeks to connect the onset of this pain with Praluent, but it reduced considerably after I stopped using the product. I will always have these weaknesses in my body, but the inflammation caused by this medication is not something I am prepared to put up with for the rest of my life."
