For Headache "Have had migraines for 30+ years, been to private doctors and VA doctors. Like many people, I chased the right medication for years. Fioricet has been the best medication for me. Thank God it is not controlled. Fioricet takes my headaches away with no side effects."

"I am now approaching my 69th birthday. Had few bad headaches as a child. Then in my early 30s, twisted my ankle and I fell and hit my head. Saw neurologist and lost some vocabulary for a few days. Took about three weeks to get back to “normal”. My headaches came back with a vengeance. Dealt with OTC meds and was able to still work 40 plus hours. Then a few years later the headaches became unbearable. Found a PCP that was an osteopathic doctor and found out about my C-1 to C-3 out of place. So, after trial and error with morphine sulfate being biggest error. (Oh, it does take away the pain…just couldn’t do anything but sleep.) She prescribed Fioricet with codeine. What a miracle! I went back to work and I could actually function. I have liver enzymes tests. And, I have a physical dependence (might have diarrhea if meds not filled for a few days) not addicted. If you have severe pain and use meds as directed… less than 2% of being addicted. (According to Pain Management)"

For Headache "It is the best medicine for headaches caused by TMJ and degenerative disc disease. I usually never have to take the second dose. I did at first, but now I don't. Don't take it every day, only as needed. Works well for leg aches also."

For Headache "I have suffered from migraines for years and would be in bed for 3-5 days during an episode. As soon as I feel a migraine coming on (I get the aura), I immediately pop a pill (always keep them with me) and it significantly helps and/or stops the migraine from progressing. Sometimes my head is a little sore, but the excruciating pain is not there, which I am so grateful for."

For Headache "Fioricet works within 15-20 minutes, and you feel better than you would normally... happy, awake, no headache, nothing can really irritate you, and it literally puts a smile on your face. Don’t take them daily because they will start causing headaches, and you will become tolerant, and then they won’t work when you need them to."

For Headache "I was originally given Fioricet after a spinal tap caused spinal headaches. I have a history of tension-type headaches with pain starting at the base of the skull and then radiating upward. This medicine is the ONLY thing that works for me. The trouble is finding a doctor that will listen and give it to me. Doctors pass out Percocet and Vicodin, but seem to hate prescribing this medicine. Frustrating."

For Headache "I accidentally discovered that when I took Fioricet for a migraine, my vertigo was gone. I mentioned this to my neurologist, and he kept me on it. My primary care doctor continues my prescriptions. Unfortunately, my insurance doesn’t cover it, and it’s very expensive, as I have to take six a day for the last 16 years. Without it, I cannot even get out of bed without falling over. I hope they never discontinue this medication, it gave me my life back!"

For Headache "This is the only medicine I've ever found to actually work on my tension headaches. I have used it about 2 to 3 times a year for a few to several days in a row to knock out my headaches. This is my 'last resort' medication, and for great reason - it works. As someone else posted, if this doesn't work, nothing is going to work. I'm so thankful for this medication."

For Headache "I was getting cluster headaches for about 3 weeks. Went to the ER, and they gave me a shot of Stadol, but that didn't even take my headache away. Got the Fioricet prescription filled the next day (today). Haven't had a headache all day."

For Headache "I had a spinal tap recently and, unfortunately, was in the small percentage of people that have spinal headaches from this procedure. I've had migraines forever, but a spinal headache is by far the most debilitating experience. I was prescribed Fioricet and was taking 2 every 4 hours, it did nothing! I was back hospitalized the next day. So, this may work great for migraines, but anyone prescribed this for spinal headaches, it does not work."

For Headache "Didn't even touch my migraine. I've tried just about everything for chronic severe migraines, including daily propranolol, Imitrex, Maxalt, narcotics, etc. Only Midrin has helped. Ran out and tried this. Didn't help. Didn't notice any side effects."

For Headache "I am a 61-year-old female and have tried everything out there for headaches since my late 20s. This is a wonder medication for me. I started using it in my 30s and it is the only thing I can use and still function without being down in bed in pain."

For Headache "To Ann regarding spice headaches, they are called thunderclap headaches, which means you may have a condition called RCVS. I only suffer from tension headaches and menstrual cramps and menstruation headaches. When I don’t have Fioricet during my period, I find orange juice replenished my blood cell count, thus dimming the migraines significantly. This medicine helped me for both."

For Headache "I've been getting terrible migraines for almost 20 years now. I currently take Topamax to prevent them. When I was younger, I was prescribed Fioricet for the pain and never thought it worked very well. I switched to Imitrex, which worked miracles, and now take Maxalt Melt, the orally disintegrating tablets, which are also a triptan medication. It is the only type of med to get rid of my migraines. Just tried Fioricet again in a pinch and didn't do anything! Tramadol does not work either."

"I have been prescribed Fioricet for the past thirty years, and it is the only prescription medication that works at taking my migraines away better than any other drug I've taken for them. And I don't have any side effects listed. It isn't addicting in my case. I've been happy that I was prescribed this so long ago. I just pray they don't take it off the market. It is worth the cost because it's the only thing that works. I'm soon migraine-free very quickly for most of my experiences. I would recommend it to anyone. It also worked for my son, who started having migraines at the young age of twelve. He also has had no side effects."

For Headache "Was prescribed Fioricet for my headaches that don't go away with regular means or my Toradol. I've either woken up with or developed a headache for 2 weeks in a row now. The Fioricet seemed to make the headache abate, so I didn't notice it as much the first day I took it, but the headache was back the next day. So, it didn't work for me, but it does make me not care so much and feel sleepy. As you can see by the other posts here, whether it works or not is a personal thing."

For Headache "Was prescribed this for tension headaches. It does something, but it makes me dizzy and lightheaded. It seems to start working nearly immediately (reduces the pain by like 50-75%), but after not too long, the headache will start slowly creeping back over the course of the next few hours. I actually have a headache I've been attempting to treat with it right now, and so far I've taken 7 pills over the course of 26 hours, and it's still here."

For Headache "I had a doctor give me Fioricet and told me to come back in 3 weeks to see if it worked for me, and it was the one thing that actually worked. So I went back in 3 weeks, and he told me it was not part of a healthy diet and would not give me any more. So really, what was the point of the false hope? I continue to suffer at least 2 days a week from massive headaches. My stomach is gonna fall apart from all the over-the-counter medications I take way too much of, for very little relief."

For Headache "For years, my migraines were so bad I was experiencing memory loss, I spoke nonsense words and made my home dark. My stress was 15 out of 10. I weighed 115 lbs after having 3 children. I looked 50 at 35. I was taking a lot of over-the-counter medications in my desperation. My pain management doc gave me Fioricet. I took 2 on set and 2 after two hours. It was prescribed 1 every six hours, but that didn’t help. I was able to finish a 6-year university education and took care of my family. I am very efficient in my job and am happy. Even after taking my medicine, my body has adjusted, and I am able to do my job. After 20 years of suffering, my greatest fear is not being able to control my pain. I do continue to look for other alternatives but have found none."

For Headache "Chronic daily migraineur since 2004. Fioricet is hit and miss regarding relief. Constant long-term struggle trying many, many modalities. However, I think rebound migraines from 4 - 6 pills daily are contributing to never getting significant sustained relief. I would not recommend using it. I hope to eventually end the use of Fioricet."

For Headache "I fell back in 2007 and did a lot of damage to my neck and back. Since then, I've suffered tension headaches that are absolutely debilitating. I have to curl up in a cold, dark, quiet place and wait for them to end, like others, usually between 3-6 days. I've tried everything: heat, ice, physical therapy, trigger point therapy, visualization, exercise, core strengthening, significant weight loss (100 lbs), relaxation techniques, psychologists, and medication after medication. I had a doctor prescribe Fioricet a couple of months ago. My headaches aren't 'cured,' but I can definitely function if I have to now. I only take them when I have to, though. No withdrawal symptoms yet at all. I do get insomnia though."

For Headache "This is a wonderful drug. It takes the pain away within a few minutes, and even if the migraine doesn't go away altogether, the pain isn't as bad as it would be or could be without some form of medication. Believe me, I've tried them all. I am now on Topamax 50 mg twice a day, Fioricet, and Midrin."

For Headache "I was in the hospital with sepsis. While in the hospital, I had a terrible headache that would not go away. They gave me Narco, and that did not work. I was in the hospital for a week, and they could not get rid of my headache. When I was released, I visited with my family doctor, and she prescribed Fioricet, and to my surprise, my headache was gone. I still cannot believe a whole week in the hospital, and they could not help me. I am so grateful to my doctor who prescribed this medication to me."
