Okay so I was on zoloft for panic attack disorder because I get them in school then i got prescribed vyvanse for add and taking them together. Doing research online my first discovery was on your website it says major interference you shouldn't take them together. So I brought this up with my psychiatrist and he checked his stuff or whatever using his knowledge as well he came to a conclusion that there is no interference at all now your website is a reputable source but it someones information here misleading? Sorry to sound like a complaint but I'm just confused/worried

I would say be careful in taking these drugs together. I am not a pediatric or psych nurse but a mother whose child was put on this combination, but first they had my child on adderall with Zoloft. In certain individuals this cause a serotonin syndrome. Stimulants increase DopAmine in the brain and Zoloft blocks the reputable of the DopAmine. This combination has almost destroyed my son. We are 6 months into weaning this potentially dangerous combination. Our family has been devastated with these meds .There are many general pediatricians and GP physicians who really don't understand how these interact.I trusted and I wish I had researched these meds prior to allowing these doctors prescribe this combination to my 16 year old.
My 7 year old Grandson is on this combination. Can you tell me what it was with these 2 drugs mixed that almost destroyed your son.
I had a question regarding by ADHD nanna regarding how this drug combination almost destroyed my son . This caused a serotonin syndrome where he felt horrible almost all the time and actually caused significant depression . Luckily we are almost off of both Vyvanse 12 mg and Zoloft is now 4 mg . My son is a slow metabolizer and has significant reaction to meds. We recently found out he has sleep apnea after years of telling the physician how he struggled in remembering. Now at 17 on CPAP and doing much better in school. I wish we had known this in 3 rd grade . Medication may not be the answer for ADD , it may be sleep . Just because someone doesn't snore doesn't mean they may not have this condition. My son doesn't snore but stops breathing over 40 times a night.

Hello chrisk647. Zoloft (Sertraline) My own point of view, I am not a physician. Zoloft unless administered in high doses, on a daily basis will not be effective for panic attacks. Long term use, over several months, will be efective, as saycomperable Paxil (Paroxetine). As to the the combination of taking Vyvance and Zoloft, I will research, and hopefully have data and add my comment below. Regards pledge
My reference at home doesn't find any interaction either. If you read the one here, its pretty iffy. One person reported a problem. I say if you're not having any trouble with it, you're ok.
The thing is I went off the zoloft because it didn't do anything for panic but I'm scared to go back
There are other drugs to try. I agree with kaismama though. If the medication was helping, and you werent having any problems then I would just monitor the situation (which is probably what the doc figured) I dont like the use of Zolft in young people anyway because of the increased risk for suicide. There are plenty of other medications for anxiety. There are also non-stimulant meds for ADHD which may not aggravate your anxiety. You and your Dr need to find a combination you are comfortable with. Many times, it is a matter of much trial and error in finding the right combination of meds so be patient and be sure that you give meds at least a cuple of months trial before you decide they arent working unless the side effects are too severe.
I have to agree on the zoloft question. Has he ever mentioned buspar for anxiety? Its not addicting and for some it works very well. I know that last thing he's going to order is a benzodiazepam, since they're controlled meds.
I would print the interaction profile off and take it in to him and let him read it. If you are prone to panic attacks, I'm not sure why he would put you on a stimulant anyway. Make sure you tell him you will hold him legally responsible if anything happens!
Okay thanks! The problem is I get panic attacks only in classroom lectureish environments (I'm in high school so technically I can't call it a lecture hall) but I also have problems concentrating and keeping focus on a certain task is quite difficult for me
