My dad has dementia and he has been on Zoloft for about 6-8 weeks on a low dose. He has had quite a change in his confusion in the last 3 weeks that has really taken a turn for the worse. Can the Zoloft be causing this.

I was on Zoloft for 2 weeks and couldn’t handle the vivid dreams and hallucinations. It took 3 months to clear my system.
My daughter has been on Zoloft for 8 years and her personality has completely changed (she started bc of post partum depression). She hallucinates situations that never happened; she’s always angry and very accusatory. She comes up with crazy scenarios but can’t explain them in context. She’s fabricated many lies which terminated relationships within the family. Her memory is affected and she doesn’t remember major things in her life. If u go to NIH website, hallucinations and dementia are rare side effects. Her behavior became so toxic it scared me and I had to suspend communication with her. I begged her to taper off the drug, now she won’t talk to me. Zoloft is not a drug for everyone: SSRI’s have a link to dementia. Google it.
As an SSRI Zoloft is commonly used for dementia (the depression side of it especially)-but with what you said is happening then it is the Zoloft and no doubt should be changed or taken off, see ur doc :o)
Yes. People with dementia have a very delicate brain and any meds they take have to be given cautiously. If it's done this to him call his dr and ask about it tomorrow.
