I've been in two accidents and don't remember a thing.
hello dennis26miless. Well, I was on xanax for years. It will sedate you, and make you less alert. A less common side effect, and its usually holds true for the elderly, seniors, is forgetfullness and also confusion. So, yes, to your answer. In my case, no. It never really did that. my dose was high in those days. I'd talk to your doctor. you don't want to end up in a situation where, you might say, how did I get here? or have a pause in your memory, blank out and find yourself saying what in the world is happening or going on? So, best advice I may give you, is talk to your doctor and becarefull when or if you have to drive. best to you, hope that you find that this ends quickly for you. there are other benzos besides xanax that will curb, cut down on your anxiety.
I have not remember watching movies having conversations ect. after taking xanax. Waking up in morning and not remembering nothing.
Hey booter! Me too. That's when I usually take my xanax to help me sleep at at night. I can take it & then get interested in something on TV & fall asleep & not really remember going to bed or my hubby yelling at me to go to bed, so in that way, guess it does affect my memory right after taking it, but then I take 3mg at bedtime too. That's a pretty good dose. When I get up in the morning doesn't seem to affect it all day long altho'...
I know I just added an answer to this , but is not showing. I have taken Xanax since 1994, & it does not affect my memory. I have vasulitis in my brain that causes memory loss to some degree. Just my thoughts...
ThanksMary, also I wonder if my B-12 could be low, that causes memory loss. I have to see the doc soon and will talk to him about it. Dennis, ask about your B-12. Von-1
Hi sis, what is Vasulitis? Can ye enlighten us gurl?
Love ya lots,
Lara the Irish nutter
Well, A quick answer is it's an infammation of the blood vessels. It can cause all kinds of problems all over the body. My older brother has it in his legs. Causes you not to have proper blood flow the the areas affected. Oh my goodness! That's what wrong with my thinking!!
Mary,
There is nothing wrong with your thinking girly!!! You are making this lass giggle this morning!!
Vonniepie, yes, Xanax sure does help with panic attacks!! They truly can be hell on earth, no?
xoxo
Lara
Yes, they certainly do help. When my grandson died ( & don't tell anyone) we just passed around the bottle. Helped all of us get thru that ordeal. mary
Mary... when did that happen gurl? That is the stuff nightmares are made of my sis. I am so very sorry.
Lara
Yes, t'was horrible. Our daughter got hit head on by a semi at 55 mph, & was 29 weeks pregnant. Had to do a C-section, & little Kai only lived 2 days. Had to make a decision to take him off life support as he would have been in a vegatative state had he lived. It was a horrible ordeal. Our then 7 year old grandson was hurt also & our daughter very badly. She had another boy exactly on the same date 2 years later tho'> So we celebrate & cry both on Dec. 6th each year. Mary
Hi dennis26miless,
Yes I have memory loss on Xanax. This seems to be quite common with most of the Benzodiazapines.
Von1~I don't think age has anything to do with it!! lol gurl, I am 36 and forgetful as heck!!! That could be from Fibromyalgia fog, yet methinks tis the Xanax!
Best wishes dennis,
Lara, do you really think its the xanax? I have stopped my lexapro, going to try and taper the xanax, later on, don't want to do both at the same time. I may not can, depends on my health if I can come off all this meds. Jay gets on to me for forgetting stuff, like he don't lol. V
Aye Vonniepie, I really do think tis the Xanax!!
Why are you trying to go off your meds gurl? Aren't they working?
Are ye worried about addiction? Sorry for all the questions!!
Love ya V,
Lara
lara, I think the lexapro was making me tired all the time. I tried taking it inam and then tried in pm and just stayed tired all the time. I haven't taken it in several days and don't feel as tired. I don't know about the xanax, I may not can come off it, cause it helps with the panic. V
Do you take any other medications, even over the counter? what dose are you on and what length of time have you been on xanax? have you had any discussion with your doctor concerning this? We want the very best for you,
Dennis, how long have you been on xanax, and are you saying it has caused memory loss for you? I have been on xanax about a year, I do sometimes have some memory problems but just chalked it up to age (57). Please give share more info with me. Thanks, Von-1
