Just a comment that may explain your meds for a higher dosage. My doc gave a DNA test to me to show how certain drugs are best and not so best. I metabolize Lexapro more quickly, thus, the dosage of 30mg per night. Ask your therapist if this test could be made available to you.
This test will give you lists of many classifications for you and your doctor to consider.
I just had that test done. I may have to come off Lexapro as it is not working like it should.
Glad you were able to get the rest. It is also helpful with other medications too. I have to take a medical food called Deplin. It’s a form of Folate that my body doesn’t metabolize properly. Adding that helped the Lexapro work much better.
I wish you the best of luck with your search for the proper Med. It’s not easy to go through but hang in there. Please feel free to message us back and we will try to help with our personal experiences!

Hi, Allyson!
25-30mg/day would be prescribed off-label but anxiety disorders are more difficult to treat and slower to respond to antidepressant/anxiolytics. Your doctor has probably determined that the "recommended" dose isn't enough to treat you.
Worst case scenario you may have some new or recurring side effects which is common after a dosage increase but since you already have the medication in your system they would probably be mild and not last long. Plus you are increasing the dose slowly.
If this doesn't work well the options might be an add-on medication like Abilify or Rexulti or switching to a different medication.
Best regards,
Wildcat
PS, if you aren't already you might consider therapy especially CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) to help you learn ways to help you control your symptoms. You would also address stressors and triggers before the anxiety kicks in.
