My new doctor had me on 20mg of Prozac for 2 weeks then changed me to 10mg Lexapro. The doctor said I didn’t need to ween off. Makes me very nervous.
Can you go from Prozac to Lexapro?

Hi, Laurie!
20mg of Prozac is the low initial starting dose and you were only on it for a short period of time... it hasn't had time to build up to very high levels in your system. Despite what you might read many people have no problem stopping an antidepressant at this level.
I've changed medications several times to find the most effective one for me and I've never had any discontinuation symptoms even when I was taking them longer than this.
Don't fret too much... you should be fine.
No need to worry. They are both ssris and additionally it's generally safe to switch from one antidepressant to another without titrating off regardless of the type of antidepressant. I've done it myself. No problems. You should be just fine as long as the new dosage is equivalent to the previous dosage of that other drug or slightly less. Please don't stress you'll be fine.
