Xanax isnt a pain medication but if stress aggravates your back pain then Xanax might help by relieving the stress. It may also help you sleep better. The thing with chronic Xanax use is that the body gets tolerant to the effects quickly and it is a bugger to get off this medication once your body becomes dependent on it. Once you are dependent, you cannot just stop the drug, you have to taper off and even that can be difficult. Some people have seizures when stopping this drug. In my opinion, Xanax should be used very sparingly (but that is just my humble opinion) You are on a small dose. That may be why it is not helping your anxiety.
I know it's not a pain med, but you're right, my anxiety levels increase as well as the back pain. Probably because my spinal cord is squished between vertebras . Your answer makes sense, I also have built up tolerances taking pain meds over 18 years now, as opposed to bone fusions. As long as I feel happy enough to get up and work, I don't care what it's called or if it's opiod( preferably) or not, like useless Ultram. Xanax was given to me and I felt happy, thus taking my mind off my excruciating L5/s1 spondilolisthesis. Thank you and look for more input from you and ...
Well thanks for that, I'll take it spareingly cuz I hardly can tell I took anything, even when I take 4 at once=1.mg
So then Xanax is not recommended to take for pain.? What should i use for pain i dont have insurance
