I have been taking lunesta for a good couple of years now and now i'm dealing with taking drug tests once a month at random and i've been failing for benzodiazepines. the only thing i take that many people have told me will show up sometimes is lunesta and benadryl. I just want some concrete proof because my doctor believes only in what she thinks is right even though my sleep specialist told me that a metabolite of the medication breaks down as a benzodiazepine, but i'm looking for concrete proof from someone who knows and ask a doctor wants something like 20 bucks to answer my question so i figured this may be the best alternative. thank you for your time in this matter. I fail for benzos again and i get kicked out of the detox program i'm in, so this is a big deal I figure out what's causing me to be failing these tests.
Will lunesta show up on a drug test as a benzodiazepine ?

I am also in a detox program, and on lunesta. They way it was explained to me was that it ( lunesta ) can show up as a benzo. I know at my treatment center you can have your drugscreens sent back and they can tell you exactly what is causing your positive screen. Also, some places don't openly admit it but it could be a lab mistake. In the beginning of my treatment I went through a period of twelve false positives for benzos. Because I really wasn't taking any and I had my tests sent back, they proved to be lab mistakes. If you really aren't taking benzos keep fighting there are ways to figure it out!
I personally have had several pharmacists tell me that lunesta and ambien could show up in a drug test as a benzodiazepine.
