I ask because I am doing a report on it for school and I have heard people call them 'handlebars' or simply 'bars'. I just want to know why, so that my report can be as thorough as possible. Any information provided will be greatly appreciated. My report is due on Monday, May 3. Thank you all.

I have heard the term handlebars don't know why cause alot of people can't handle them for s**t. Now the term bar is because it is in the shape of a bar. This I also can't understand cause some are shaped in a circle people are just dumb and i think they use these terms to think they they are actually fooling the police when they talk about it over the phone they aren't stupid though. The cops I don't mean the dumbass people that made up the name's.

Thank you, MrsPage82. I kind of figured that they may call Xanax "handlebars" for that reason. I just wanted to be sure. I didn't want to misinform my class for my report. And you are right, "handlebars" is a silly term considering some of them are circle-shaped and some are also triangular-shaped and oval-shaped. Thank you again for your input.
