I have been on Lexapro for just over a year and it has helped me tremendously with anxiety. In the beginning, I slep great and had lots of energy to get up. Now, I still sleep great, but can't get up in the mornings, but once I do get up am fine. I am still sleepy and can fall back into sleep every morning.
Why can't I get up in the mornings while on Lexapro--feel drowsy and fall back into sleep?

I was on 20mg of lexapro for 6 months and in the end I had to stop taking it as it made me a Zombie. I was constantly tired, no matter how much I slept. I have come off it (slowly) and 7hours sleep is back to being sufficient.
How do you wing off it my son started at 5mg to 10mg then upbyo 20mg right after I cut the 20 In half and now I give him 5 mg he has a hard time getting up in the morning which some days he has to muss school he's only 15 and he wants to get off the pills
Lexapro did the same thing to me. Do you take it at night? Try taking it a little earlier in the evening, maybe around 7p.m. My doctor prescribed Wellbutrin to take in the morning to counteract the drowsiness. It helped considerably. You may want to try that as well. Wellbutrin may also provide another good kick for your anxiety and the depression that usually goes with it. Hope this helps and good luck!
I know meds affect everone diffrent. I take my lexapro around 5 pm. I do ok waking up. I don't feel as tired anyomore since I changed the time I take it. Von-1, oh I only take 10 mg
Hi there Blue Sands. I really can't tell you why. I was on it for about a year. I stopped it because it made me feel tired. My dose was 30mg. Jujst curious what yours is. I was on cymbalts for almost a year and a half, developed two fairly bad late reactions to it and stopped taking it. and that was after all that time. I took my lexapro first thing in the morning. Not sure when you take yours. Perhaps maybe a change in the time when you take it might help.
Hello pledge. I take it in the mornings and take 20mg. At one point, I was up to 30mg, but felt exhausted and cut it back to 20mg with no problems and still feel good except the morning thing. Blue Sands.
Ok Blue Sands. Strange. And you do take it in the morning. But, as I said earlier, the cymbalta, after nearly a year and a half, I ended up having to stop taking it. Maybe, it will disappear on its own. It came on out of no where, so hopefully, it might just leave on its own.
Thanks Pledge for responding. I now take 10mg from 20mg. I take it first thing in the morning and the sleepiness is getting worse--I don't even hear my alarm to get up. I switched times for about a week to taking it at 7:00 pm and it didn't make a difference.
