chest clapping is the best way to move mucus, do this once in the morning when you get up and early evening too, if you are alone during the day do it as well. Method: take you right hand and cross over to you left lower chest at the side of your abdomen and start clapping your lower lung, again at the side and also towards the back as well; clapping about 100 times and totally 300 times a day will move all your muck out... same for the left hand to your right side.
I have bronchiectasis. I am on ventolin and atrovent. I find it very hard to cough up mucus but when I do I feel a lot better. I do not know this these puffers do anything really.
You might try Advair (fluticasone and salmeterol oral inhaler) or budesonide and formoterol fumarate dihydrate which is Symbicort as they are a combination of an inhaled steroid and also has a bronchodilator as well. These combinations of both steroids and brochodilators have been found to best control secretions. It looks like you have tried these forms bronchodilator but not in combination with an inhaled steroid. Adding the inhaled steroid may better control your symptoms.
Chest physical therapy is important too in helping a person to get rid of secretions. The basis for bronchiectasis treatment is chest physical therapy to assist in coughing up secretions, and antibiotics to prevent infection.
Since the smooth muscles that surround the bronchial tubes are damaged, mechanical ways to clear secretions are used to increase air flow and decrease the risk of infection. Chest physical therapy uses percussion or clapping on the back to help loosen secretions and then changing positions of the body to allow gravity to help those secretions to be coughed up. Chest clapping may be done by a physical therapist, but family members can be taught to do this routinely at home. Mechanical devices such as chest clappers or vests also may be considered.
... are doctors experimenting on us, i also have an endless list of inhalers?
