I've read that anything with a decongestant can cause a severe reaction, but I have an ear ache & sore throat and could really use something.
What can you take for a cold while on 50mgs of Trazodone?

I have just spoken with my Pharmacist on this very matter. I take ativan and 50mg of trazodone. And I have a horrible head and chest cold. She looked up on their computer, then told me I could take any cold medicine I chose. I was surprised, but happy, now hopefully I can get some relief. Just another point of view from a different pharmacist. So PLEASE always ask your pharmacist, before taking any advice on your meds and what can or cannot be taken together. Good health to all. I have been taking Trazondone for 4 years, and I never knew taking pseudophed or any cold remedies was a problem, never has been with me. I have always had a stuffy nose. I don't know why a Zinc lozenge would be perfect, ... Also,I take a Zinc tab every am, part of my regimin to fight off colds. Hot Green Tea is good for your ear Ache and throat, as well as disolving 2 bayer aspirin on your tounge slowly, as horrible as that is, or sounds, it always worked for me. 2 aspirin every 4 hours will make you fell better during the cold.

The pharmacist confirmed that taking a decongestant while taking trazodone is a not recommended & can cause respiratory failure. Anything like Tylenol Cold or Advil Cold & Flu should not be taken. She recommended only a topical rub like Vicks vapo rub or steaming. Tylenol or Advil only for pain.

My doctor knows I have breathing problems and sporadic asthma, yet she prescribed Tradazone? Expound on the Respitory Failure comment that you made, that is alarming news as I have spent 4 years taking cold remedies, and pseudofed as needed. I do have sleep apnea, could that be related?

I was speaking to a registered nurse about mixing Advil cold a flu with Trazodone and I was told as long as it doesn’t have this dextramine or something like that in it, it’s okay to take at the same time without any issues, I wish I could remember was how to spell and pronounce the word properly but as you can imagine im no professional, but just look for DEX something and if there’s that then you can’t take them both.
