Hi all! Just a warning this is going to be a long question so you can understand the full extent of my problem...
So I started taking Vyvanse a little more than year and a half ago, and was on it for about 7 or 8 months at 70mg once daily, I stopped taking it almost a year ago... As soon as I started taking it I realized that my breathing got really bad. I was always having to take really deep breaths because it felt like I couldn't catch my breath and even then it didn't always work. I tried to yawn, hoping that would work and it never did. It's now a year later and I'm STILL having these problems. I've seen a bunch of people post about this issue when they're on it, but never about it continuing after stopping the medication. What I'm asking is, has anyone experienced this after stopping the medication for a year? And if so is there ANYTHING they did that helped? I'm desperate at this point and will try anything, it happens every day and I can't do a lot of things anymore, even talking has become a project because it causes me shortness of breath. TIA
Trouble breathing after Vyvanse?

I'm having this same problem. Did they ever figure out what was causing it? I know it's the Vyvanse because if I don't take it for the day, I have no problem with breathing, but every time I take it, I feel like I can't draw in a complete breathe 2 hours later. But God, I love this medication, it doesn't give me the anxiety and irritation Adderall does.
I have the exact same thing from the same dosage! Did anything ever come of it??
Hi I've taking dexedrine before and then begsn taking Vyvanse later, and then quit Vyvanse and then started up again well the second time taking Vyvanse about a month into it I had something like a breathing problem I have a oxygen sensor and it seemed fine but I still felt like I wasn't able to breathe and so that made me panic well anyways I looked up some remedies and yeah metoprolol works so does a muscle relaxer or a benzodiazepine now that being said there is a variety of problems that cause trouble breathing and anxiety from Organ problems to blood problems even mental problems and STDs.
Well my panic got so bad I tried driving to the ER and on the way there it got worse and I had the ambulance to come get me they said and the doctor said they can hear that the lungs sounded constricted but when they took x-rays they were clean
I do remember complaining about something like that when I was a kid and the doctor said it was just the body adjusting to the drug and I just ignored it and live with it as a teenager. I read a lot of side effects and a lot of them stop when they quit taking Vyvanse you're the first person I ran into that is also having the same issue while quitting Vyvanse... In a couple of weeks I'm going to go do labs to see if there's any abnormalities in my blood or plasma iron or hormones or anyting
Thank you for all that information, and please keep me updated! I have gone to the doctor for this several times as well, and they told me it was Just asthma and gave me a nebulizer which did absolutely nothing for me. My next step will have to be going to have to go to a pulmonologist because years later I’m still experiencing this issue on a daily basis multiple times
I was given Ventolin inhaler and I didn't think it worked either "it was a weird event" I took my Metropol and lorastan twice a day and a benzo I had for tense muscles, it all helped. So I looked into it more and I rules out that I don't have a problem with Vyvanse, I believe it was what I was talking with it, I was drinking a topochico "carbonated mineral water" and along with my slew of pills "magnesium" was among them, these 2 thing intensify Vyvanse.
I looked up what intensifies the effects of Vyvanse and avoided them, since then I get mild air hunger if any and it's a brief event.
My labs came out fine, and at the time I was relieved and at the same time not relieved because I still had to conclusion.
Oh and also I forgot to mention, I increased my salt intake. It's Himalayan salt "NOT TABLE SALT" it helps
Shayynaa_1215, I'm wondering if you've figured out what was going on with the shortness of breath. I took Vyvanse with few problems for 4 years and then, suddenly, I started having very uncomfortable side effects, including shortness of breath. Neither my psychiatrist nor my primary care doctor has been able to explain why this is happening. My psychiatrist prescribed a small dose of a beta blocker and that seems to help but I'm still not feeling too good when I take Vyvanse and I'm not sure I want to take a med to address the side effects of another med. I'd just really like to know what could have happened so suddenly in my body to cause such a drastic change in my response to Vyvanse.
Shay; Just as Janie has already said, whenever you are talking about a possible side effect of a medication they always say trouble breathing call your doctor right away.

Hi Shayynaa-
This is something that you should talk to a doctor about as soon as you can. Shortness of breath is something you have checked out medically.
