I know you shouldn't take the two at the same time but if I take a tizanidine at noon, can I take a trazodone 6-8 hours later without risk of the heart effects?

Yes, that's likely safe but to be sure you should ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Tizanidine has a short half life of about 2.5 hours meaning that after 2.5 hours about 50% of your dose remains in your system, after 5 hours only 25% remains, etc.
If you can make it 7-8 hours you should be okay.
