I am curious about trazodone. I was prescribed it to help me sleep. I've never taken it before, and it's at a low dose, 50mg. Does it help get rid of anxiety, racing thoughts, paranoid, obsessive thinking, and anxiety?
Does trazodone help lessen or get rid of OCD symptoms?

Hi. I have been on Trazodone for some time. It does help with my sleep, but I have not notice it helping anything but my sleep. I plan to go back on Prozac, which had helped me with my OCD, racing thoughts and depression. I wish you the best in your search for help. Always keep the faith!
Hi, Zoralyn!
Trazodone has been prescribed off label to treat anxiety disorders including OCD with some success.
Several studies and clinical trials have reported improvement but there needs to be more studies done. It isn't considered a first line drug of choice at this time.
50mg is the recommended dose for sleep but it may not be effective enough for anxiety disorders.
It may help you get better sleep which in turn may help you feel better over all and relieve some of your symptoms.
