How to taper the dosage of Zapiz (clonazapam) 0.5mg and discontinue its use safely?

Hi,
I have been taking Zapiz (clonazepam) since last 6 days. My doctor prescribed it for anxiety and insomnia. He prescribed 0.5mg but did not provide guidelines about dosage tapering.
I took 0.5mg for 1st three days and reduced the dosage to half for the next 3 days. What should I do next? Should I again reduce the dosage to half before discontinuing or can I stop taking the drug at 0.25mg dose.
I would really appreciate if anyone could guide me about the ideal way to stop taking this drug safely.
I am on this same dosage and I cut it in half at night however I have been on it for three months now. I am just wondering can I just stop it or alternate every other night? Help !!!

Yes, Ahappygirl4u; I see lots of good answers and really you have already done a fine job but in this amount of time you really should not have many problems at all stopping it now if ever in dought please call the doctor that gave this to you. good luck and happy day ahead.

Thank you for your response, Chuck1957.
I asked my doctor and he said the half dosage should be continued for double the number of days for which I took 0.5mg. Since I took 0.5mg for 3 days, I should take 0.25mg for 6 before discontinying the use. Is it the right way or should I further reduce the dosage from 0.25 before discontinuing.

ahappy; Really for the short term you have been on them, I think what you said is fine. taking the 1/2 pill or 1/4 0.25 to help with the anxiety and you should be just fine. Chuck.

It's a low dose, and you were on it for only six days. You should have no problems stopping. Be well. xx

Thank you for replying. I took 0.25mg yesterday so can I discontinue the use from today onwards without further tapering.

You could. Definitely. But only if you are comfortable with it. Your anxiety may return. Not because of the drug. But anxiety sometimes does that. It can be difficult to shake. I've been on Ativan for a decade now, cause without it, I stay in a state of constant panic. Its a horrible condition. I hope this never happens to you. Be strong. Remember to breath. Thank you for your kind words and help. I too hope I get back to being the happy person I used to be. I went through a lot during last year which build up this anxiety. I use to be a strong person but this time I got overwhelmed with the pain and atrocities inflicted on professional level. But I still have faith that things will get better..
