I have been taking trazodone hcl 150mg for sleep. However, if I miss a dose I can't sleep at all! I?

I have been taking trazadone for over a year at 200mg and do not sleep well. Anxiety and depression. I take cymbalta and antivan plus pill for high blood pressure. I was perfectly fine until I lost my job and this depression, fear and anxiety hit. Can't sleep with trazadone and still wake up to early. Wish I never started any of these medications and never went into therapy as it made me worse with fear.

BE CAREFUL WITH trazodone. ESPECIALLY HIGH DOSAGES. I JUST LOST A FAMILY MEMBER WHO DIDN'T WAKE UP. PLEASE TELL YOUR PHYSICIAN... THE FAMILY MEMBER COULD NOT SLEEP, EVEN AFTER TAKING IT.

I have been taking 100 mgs at bedtime for sleeping issues and it works fairly well when I do take it, But I missed a dose a few nights ago and I did not sleep at all. Don't know what I will do if my doctor ever decides not to renew my prescription. I may have to be bumped up to 150 mgs at night though as I am getting used to the 100 mgs dose and it is not working as well. Does anyone take a higher dose than 100 mgs and do you have any issues with the higher dose?

I have got to tell you, I am pretty excited and I haven't even tried my new OTC meds. I am on trazodone 100mg and it really doesnt help my depression nor my sleeplessness - But, I have just read about SAMe and I can't wait to try it. It sounds really great - perhaps it will deal with my depression and sleep problems. Will report.

I've been taking something to sleep for several years, starting with Elavil, then Ambien, Lunesta and even tried Restoril. I suggested to my MD trazodone since we use it a lot where I work to treat insomnia. I started with 100mg and when it quit working, we upped it to 200mg and it's been working for almost a year now. I don't miss it so I don't know what would happen if I skipped it. I need what sleep I can get, due to work, fatigue and pain. Hope this helps you out!

I suffer from insomnia so I have the same reaction as you. I have been on sleep aids now for about 15 years. I have also tried various ones. Trazodone was one of them but they give me a hangover the next day. When I was working I just couldn't tolerate the hangover. Now that I am home, I can at least take 50mg (split my 100's) and that helps. Otherwise I take Ativan 2mg. at night for sleep. It is a terrible thing to go for days (like I used to) without sleep and then CRASH... literally from exhaustion or hallucinations because I was more than agitated.

I'd rather remember to take the darn things than lose a night's sleep. Are you finding that you are not getting your refills when you need them? Is that why you occasionally miss a dose?

I wish you well and keep taking them as prescribed, which is every night.

Yes, your body is reacting to the absence of the medication. I was on it an this same thing happened. Hope this helps.

Hello celicaangelkitty. That is the nature of the drug. Its often perscribed off label for insomnia/sleeping disorders. Your body is adjusting itself to the drug. I took Trazodone for some years, my system worked the opposite of yours, and I built up a immunity/tolerance to it. regards, pledge
