The way to avoid these worries is to always use the same pharmacy. The pharmacist is trained to pick up interactions between your meds. There is a possibility of erythrocin increasing the action of the amlodipine and that would mean you could have an increase in the side effects of the amlodipine. Dizziness and swelling among them. If you have swelling of your hands and feet, or dizziness you should call your dr.
Thank you for your answer. Would you believe I was prescribed both amlopodine and the erythromycin by the same doctor at the same appointment at the same time. And the prescriptions were done at exactly the same time by and at the same pharmacy !
I only delayed starting the erythromycin because I read the contra indications on the leaflets that come with the medications. I had hoped my infection would ride itself out. But the last 3 days I have been plagued by daily headaches, and a hot forehead. So thinking the infection had taken hold I wanted to maybe start the antibiotics, plus wanted to double check if safe ! I am also allergic to penicillin...
So both doctors and pharmacist certainly didn't pick up on this.
Thank you once again.
