First I was on amoxicillian every 8 hours, motrin 800 & tylenol that didnt work so I then had to get 3 bags of fluid via iv because i was dehydrated. Antibiotic chlamidicin & a steriod in my iv because my throat had closed. They send me home with chlamidicin, tylenol with codeine & motrin 600. After a few days and no results i went back and they gave me a penicilin shot in my buttox but my symptoms are still the same. That was 3 days ago i cant eat & i can barely drink. My tonsils have white build up & i keep coughing up yellow/green mucus ive had strep throat for 11 days now

Cipro and Doxycycline together 10 days will clear it, hope you had a culture done, I did and that is what they gave me.
Go back to the doctor and get a stronger antibiotic ASAP! Augmentin, cephalexin, Ciprofloxacin, and many more antibiotics are available that are stronger and have less resistance in strep than the plain old first line antibiotics!
I recommend you seek another physician or a different urgent care. Penicillins are usually first line in terms of strep, but clearly if there is no resolve after three days you need to seek a doctor and ask for a different class of medications. The presence of white exudate along with a lack of resolve from penicillins points me in asking for a different class of antibiotics. Clindamycin is a good antibiotic but there are better ones for respiratory tract infections.
I do not know your age or past medical history etc, in order to recommend a medication to ask your physician about, but I think you need a different antibiotic that will work, rather than antibiotics and pain meds.
If you begin to experience difficulty breathing or gasping for air etc, please seek IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY MEDICAL ATTENTION.
I hope you feel better.
Hi Ohmysheek,
They DID do a throat culture right?
OR were you told it looks like strep?
Call your doc ASAP because you can have complications from untreated Strep. Seriously, call your doc.
Take care
:-)
Hi Ohmysheek
Despite your doctor prescribing the correct medications for strep throat there must be something else going on?
I would make another appointment with your doctor Asap. The antibiotics should be working by now.
I would ask to have the antibiotic reevaluated? Maybe you need a different antibiotic?
Also, if you're still feeling miserable throughout your body,. I would ask your doctor to draw blood.
Hope you feel better soon.
