Simvastatin - Can I crush this drug?

From the UK's NHS Medicines Management Committee:
Atorvastatin - can be crushed and mixed with water though not very soluble so should be flushed well after administration to avoid blocking enteral feeding tube.
According to mayo clinic site, Lipitor (and I would assume atorvastatin) should not be crushed. I called Pfizer and they advised the same. I crushed one tablet of atorvastatin 20 MG and it was like prepping for a colonoscopy--severe diarrhea.
