Hi Turkee,
We have'nt spoke before but i am same age as you and going through the anxiety issues you are suffering,i completely understand what you are going through, but i hoped you called the doc or pharmacist about the increased feelings you were having like sweet and Von suggested, you need to be firm with your doc, these meds are obviously making your anxiety worse and you dont need that my friend..
Let us know how you're doing,i'm gonna friend you so if you want to talk i'm here,we're the same age, going through similar things so maybe we can share our racing thoughts together.
Take care my friend
A, thank you!!! and turkee email me!!! Von
thank you... would love to talk to you... always great to have people to talk to about this.other people dont get it that dont go through it!
Hey girl,
I see you've friended me back, post me privately and we will talk, here for you,you are not alone,x
today is day 17... the past few days have increased my JITTERY feeling... i dont know how else to explain it... feel like my insides are shaking, will get a wave of panic, but that does seem to go away pretty quickly. but this feeling like im going to jumo out of my own body and humming feeling on the inside SUCKS...
this is normal with increasing a dose right?
I don't know if its normal or not maybe Dzoo or Laurie Shay will answer you or go to them and ask. I have this too but have been on my meds a long time. i have just decieded its going to always be like that. Its not everyday but alot of days. I go back to doc next mo and will ask him. Sorry I can't help. Vonnie
Hi Turkee,
Call your doc and your pharmacist NOW. This is NOT NORMAL, just see what the pharmacist has to say about all these odd feelings you have.
This sounds so unpleasant that I know I would never want to take it again!!!
Let us know how it goes please?
Sweet, if you will go back and look everytime she has ask, she has been told to stay on it, it will go away. I tld her from the beginning to go to the doc. She doesn't have ins I know and its hard to pay for but I think she needs to go too. But everytime I have told her to someone comes back and tells her this is normal and will go away. Thats why I'm getting o dicouraged with this site. Von
V-don't get discouraged by the site itself, it is just the fact that turkee is told it is all normal when IT IS NOT NORMAL AT ALL, TURKEE CALL THAT DOC OR PHARMACIST, this is not not normal !!!
Zoloft may be causing an ALLERIC REACTION, SO CALL SOMEONE NOW darlin' !!!
Lara, I'm not discouraged with the site its self, just the people who keep telling someone to keep waiting when you can see them begging for help. Some of these people are young and don't kow what to do. I'm glad you told her that. Cause when I rell people someone always over rides me. Like I don't know what I'm talking about. V
yea i put in a call for the dr on friday but havent heard anything yet. when i first started the zoloft i had the increased jittery feeling, and then after i a week or so i think it got better, i had talked to the dr then and he said it was normal, and that if i could hang in there it would get better. then i upped the dose 3 days ago at the 2 week mark like the dr said to. and it seems like the anxiety.jittery feeling.nervousness is back, so thats why im asking if its normal to have the increased side effects with the increased dosage. i have talked to others and your right they do say they went through the same thing and its normal and will get better. and Vonnie you said you feel this too. im trying not to run to the dr everytime i feel a symptom either cause i dont want to look to crazy. and if it was completely unbearable i would be blowing up the dr's phone
oh and i have insurance till november of this year...
anyone have a 24 hour lightheaded feeling from anxiety?
that was the WHOLE reason i started going to the dr 6 months ago. im still dizzy/lightheaded mostly all day ...
does anyone else feel that way? did the meds help?
there were times that I felt dizzy to the point I thought that i was gonna pass out. In my case in was a combination of high anxiety and hypertension. The dizziness is one of the symptoms of anxiety. My meds did help calm me down, it took a while but it did.
I have felt like this before - often for a long time. Seems no medication helped with this - time, and therapy were what made the big changes. Never underestimate the power of having someone to talk to - someone to share with how you are feeling. I will be praying for you -
Hi again sweet turkee,
Please, if you have racing thoughts, GO TO THAT DOC AGAIN!!!
What you are experiencing sounds horrid indeed and really seems like bad anxiety. I felt the same way after my daughter was born, feeling so dizzy as if I would just drop dead especially when shopping for some odd reason!
The mall would make me spin!
I realise I am being quite redundant, but DO NOT be afraid to take a benzo when it gets bad my friend!!!
luv
lara
yea im just hoping the zoloft will take care of it.
if it is anxiety causing it then the zoloft should help right... if it the right meds for me.
today is day 15... upped the dose to 50mgs yesterday
Turk darlin', you will know soon enough if Zoloft is the right med for ye gurl.
It may not be, and that is where feeling like a guinea pig comes into play. Finding the right med is the key, so keep plugging away at this and you WILL find the proper medication for you, promise!! Yet after 25 days on zoloft one would think that it would be apparent if this IS the right med... perhaps it is time to call that doc and see if you should try something else? Maybe someone else has an opinion on this???
Just don't give up on your search for relief!!! We care about you and we all care about one another here. Never give up hope!!!
Your friend,
Lara
its only been 15 days... and i just increased the dosage yesterday... today has been a pretty good day...
trying to be hopeful this meds will work well for me... sometimes i have that depersonalzation or whatever it called i think. dont know if it was happening before or after the zoloft. i think before... but thats just anxiety right?
i just dont know!
Yes, it has only been 15 days, and that's Important to remember. The Zoloft is causing your neurotransmitters to reset and perform at different rates - and it takes time. While you are waiting to see how things will go, you might want to practice some controlled breathing and some progressive relaxation exercises. You can get the specifics on how to do them by googling it. Basically, once you learn these exercises you can use them over and over anytime you experience anxiety. I first learned these in a Lamaze class, and I used the techiques at the dentist for many years before i develped panic attacks, where i used them every day They helped me to relax in a situation where I was feeling tense. So give those exercises a try if you will - they aren't hard, you just need to practice them so they become an automatic response. I hope you will get relief from the Zoloft soon! Take gentle care -
I agree with ElizaJane, just remember that its onlyu been a few days and the neurotransmitters in the brain are resetting and readjusting themselves with the help of the zoloft. Its kind of like when youi do a hard reboot on your computer, the computer resets itself. It takes meds several weeks to really give you the full effects. The anxiety you feel is just your body readjusting itself and getting acustomed to the medication. I went through the same thing. Don't worry sweety, you'll feel better soon.
so you think the shay and jittery feeling is from upping the dose 2 days ago... could be right
glad to hear im not alone with this... just PRAYING these meds will work for me. took a xanax today, and havent done that in 3 days (except to sleep)
headache!
does anyone else have a feeling of lightheadedness all the time? like 24 hours a day
they saying its anxiety making me feel this way... do you get that way... i know everyone has different way their anxiety shows up.. but its so frustrating feeling alone...
is the zoloft supposed to make this go away?
Turk, I feel like that alot and thats what they tell me. I don't know, some people seem to find the right meds and do fine from now on. i know I have come along way, but here lately i have felt bad. Could be drama or family with me. I cut them off, but I still think about it it if I try not too. Its like my dad would say if he said something in court, and the judge said he couldn't say that, oh well the jury already heard it, how you get it out of their mind??? I think you are having really bad anxiety and you worry about it all the time. You aren't letting your mind rest, and I know thats hard to do. i really feel for you and wish i could do something. Your friend Vonnie
Hi turkee,
My anxiety shows up in really high stress situations, I get that shaky, restless feeling, my stomach feels like it's tied up in knots, my mind would be racing, I remember one time that I was so bad that I started to stutter. In my case, with GAD, it's the body's fight or flight response that goes into overdrive. The fight or flight response in humans is the mechanism that protects us when there is danger, depending on the situation we can either hold our ground and fight, or turn around and run like hell.
With the Generalized Anxiety Disorder that I have, that fight or flight response never shuts down, so i worry about everything all the time, breathing is shallow, heart palpitations, restlessness, etc. The meds that I take keeps the anxiety level down so that when there is a stressful situation I react to it in the normal way you're supposed to react and when the situation gets resolved, I calm back down. The meds act as a buffer. I know just how you feel honey, and before I got diagnosed I felt so alone in the world just like you do, but I found this website getting info on my meds and I found some wonderful friends here like you and sweetlemon, maso, laurie, caringsobj, reallymel, cgorres, HPoole, and everyone here, and I don't feel so alone anymore. Just remember, you are definitely not alone and you will get through this. Send me a message anytime.
strmcliff
thank you so much... i dont know what i would do without you guys to help me get through the tough times... xoxox
You're very welcome turkee, you can send me a message anytime and just tolet you know, just talking to you and everyone actually helps me get through it too. Let me know how you're doing and keep in touch. Xoxoxoxoxoxo
is this zoloft thing just a band aid... now im thinking what happens when i come off these meds? doesnt the anxiety just return... in that case it IS just a band aid... chit in 25 dont want to be on meds for forever.
my mind going a mile a minute!!
Well yes, in a sense it is. Medications are a sort of bandaid. They cover, and heal. Don't wish it to sound... corny? might not be the proper word, but often, in some cases, medications, are taken for long periods of time. For some, such as myself, a lifetime. Theres nothing to be ashamed off in taking psychiatric drugs. The anxiety in your case might return and then it might not. If it does, then, you'll probably be back on medication. Might be a different type. turkee, you're young, you've your entire life ahead of you. Look at it as a mosquito bite. Its an itch, thats a nuicance, a pest. You'll scratch it for awhile, then it will dissapear. Much as your anxiety. TYou'll have beaten down to where it no longer will be an issue. It will be, but not one that contols your mind and emotions. Just take a deep breath, and tell yourself, you're going to beat this thing, and walk away with a smile upon your face. :-0)
VERY well put pledge!!
Bravo, pledge! Couldn't have put it better myself.
Hi turkee25,
Sorry you're feeling that way, but that's what anxiety feels like. I have GAD, so I know that restless, shaky feeling all too well. Hope you're doing ok on your meds, post a private question to me and let me know any questions you have and if you need to talk. I'll be home later.
Yes... and its very common w certain meds... sometimes it goes away... mine took some time but every now and then it happens randomly.
Idid that yesterday, and I have been on my meds about a year. It seems like my anxiety and panic is high and don't now why??? I hate it too. Von
Goodmorning lummesumC and Von as well as strmcliff. Theres brunch being served one thread up. Von, I answered turkee25, amid my typos. Unreal, time to start using spell check. Xanax, on its own, will cause this. It happened to me, in the early years when I was on it. Eventually, it disappeared. Not certain when anymore, that was back in the eighties. (when I was on xanax) Long time ago. Seems like a lifetime, well for some people it might be. ha! Care for a cup?
Oh dear LummesumC - I am so sorry for that thumbs down! I just woke up and am sitting here at the breakfast table and found myself drifting back off to sleep and I must've hit the thumbs down by accident. I am so sorry - it wasn't intentional!
well today is 2 weeks that i started the zoloft, today i uped my dose to 50mgs. im hoping for the best so we will see, thanks to both of you for responding!
Hi Turk,
Will you please let us know how you are doing later, and if you are having any problems?
Lara
xx
Hi turkee25. Its a reaction that you're having in regards to the zoloft, and the xanax. The xanax is actually causing it, even though by takiung it, your shaking stops. It will lessen itself, diminsh. Your dose on both drugs is still low, and its for that reason, that it is low. Your body is adjusting. If you or most anyone were to be given a large dose of a particulat drug, often, people would react more adversely to it. You'll be fine. I know, as I've said to you beforeI took both these drugs, was on them for several years, and have a good feeling as to how they work.
Oh and I do apollogize, for I meant to say howdy, aka good morning ladies and, have a goodday, its a hot one here. Heat index 110 ha! Stay cool, time for a late breakfast on my end.
Oh pledge, DO stay out of that oppressive heat please kind sir?
And, what is for brunch today??? I am a wee bit hungry this morn, miraculous indeed!!!
Tad late in coming back with some of the goodies. Well, sweetlemon, this late morning, it will be raisin bread (actually a long time favorite of mine), bagels, cheese flavoured, as well as croissants. (covered in rich sweet dutch chocolate syrup) and as to our morning java joe this mornings blend of coffee, is from Colombia, its a dark roast. Tea, this morning is herbal, and green.Of course we have iced tea as well, along with lemonade and the infamous mineral water. So, to whomever might be reading this, if you've the time, pull up a chair, share the latest gossip if you have some, tell a tale, and fibs are always welcome. See you later sweet lemon, enjoy the goodies, oh, could you pass the butter please? ha!
Well, I do believe I made it on time this morning! So wonderful to join you all and get to catch up on things. Pledge - you certainly do set an appetizing table! I do believe I'll have one of those chocolate covered crossiants - they sound delish! It's hot and obscenely muggy here in Southern MD - I'm afraid we're in for this area's worst humidity here for the next several weeks. Just thank the Good Lord for air conditioning! Have a nice day you all!
Sorry I missed you ElizaJane. But I am glad that you did enjoy the sweets and coffee. And yes, thank the lord for a/c. Its another 100 and plus degree day here. feel like temperature is around the 110 mark. ha! Come winter we might beable to use some of this heat. Oh, theres still plenty of goodies to go round, so if anyone would care for seconds, please, and theres another pot of that delicious coffee, just made. Enjoy it, its meant to be as well as the cakes, and sweetbreads. :-0) Care for a refill? Certainly, no sugar if I'm not mistaken?
Dear turkee:
when I went through my episodes of anxiety/panic/depression several years ago you know I vividy remember exactly what you are talking about I recall the feeling that my insides (from one place in my body to the other felt like this shakey involuntary action) I agree with you it always seemed like the times I noticed it more was when I was having a high stress level, and I did just what you say you do I told myself I was just nervous and my body was reacting to what was going on on the outside, it did over time get better, it is just a very unsettling feeling, I hope things start and continue to improve. It's not a good feeling, an uneasy feeling. I wish you the very best and that you continually improve.
Sweetlemon I am reminded as I read your post when I use to be so nervous that my hands would also have that numb ice cold feeling, that was a strange feeling, or I would have my hands go numb and sweat heavily.
Hi dearest Billy sir,
Great advice, to try to calm yourself is a good idea indeed.
How are you feeling my friend?
Lara xx
Sweetlemon I am hanging in there I thank you so much for asking!
Oh turkee,
I am so very sorry you are feeling this!!! Is it almost as if you are freezing cold but without actually being cold? Can you take more of your benzo to help with this?
xx
thank you its not happeneing right now but it did yesterday and a few days before that. i was just wondering of other poeple felt this before. yes it is as if your freezing and trying to get warm but only on the inside, if i look at my hands they arent shaking but my insodes would feel like it. yes when i did feel it i would take a xanax and i think it went away.
have you felt it before?
Oh YES, I've had that exact same feeling before, and my hands would go numb as if they were ice cold.
Worry not my friend, take your benzo if it happens again and ye will be just fine love.
Lara xx
a little shakey today... its just weird... i feel like my hands are shaking alot but whnei look at them i dont really see anything, maybe a small tremor, maybe thats because im staring so hard trying to hold it still lol
