Have taken Norco for two years now because of two failed back fusions and I have not noticed any side effects at all hope this helps!
I had NO luck with Zestra ... just the opposite ... it burned me like crazy ... worse than the worse yeast infection I have ever had! I e-mailed the company to make sure they didn't send me the "automatic" shipment after the free trial ... I sent back what I didn't use ... I'm 46 and also taking Norco post-op for a total knee replacement ... not having any orgasm issues and I also take 2 mg. of Klonopin and 75 mg. Trazodone for my restless leg syndrome issues ... you may find with dropping down to the Noroc (which is less strong than the Vicodin you were taking) might help ... one thing is you are going to be taking less of the Tylenol component ... the Vicodin you were on had 500 mg Tylenol and the Norco is 325 mg. Good luck :) It's no fun when you have a great partner and the big "O" becomes elusive! :)
The Vicodin you were taking had 5 mgs of hydrocodone, the Norcos you're starting will have 7 mgs of hydrocodone. Hydrocodone, besides being an opioid/pain reliever/sometimes a godsend, it is still a depressant, hence your lack of desire. Being a male I can tell you my sex drive has decreased immensely after being on Norco 10/325's for over a month, and I'm only 29 years old. This unfortunately is one of those side effects that only affect certain peoples. I'm pretty sure if you read your handy little leaflet that comes with your new meds it will say something to the effect of "certain sexual side effects." If the pain is not too bad I would suggest taking "vacations" from your pills. If this is not an option you can always look for herbal/homeopathic ways to increase desire, just make sure they don't interact badly with your actual rx's.
I'll give you my one little bit of advice that worked for me, so hopefully it'll work for you. I just pushed through it with my wife. I realized that if I had enough sex with my wife the desire and the ability to orgasm all came back. I know, it's weird, and it's even weirder for me typing it out, but it actually worked. Try it out and see how it works.
Don't know about zestra but I have been taking norco for a few years and have no problems. In fact it is the only reason I can still have sex because without it the pain is so bad I don't want to be touched!
