I am taking Monistat for a yeast infection. It advises not to have sex. Is that because it can damage a condom or does it do more bad for my body to have sex while on Monistat? I just want to know if it advises against it because it will damage the condom or because it's bad for my body?

I'm on Monistat 3 I had unprotected sex on using day 2 of monistat
If I use the third insert would the iritation go away completely?
Jenifer is correct on most points except for the cream going into the cervix. Sex wont push it into the cervix (well it might but it wont hurt anything if it does), it will disperse the cream out of the vagina. Say you put whipped cream in a small bowl and fill it to the top with the whipped cream then push a wide drinking glass down into this bowl of whipped cream. What is going to happen to the whipped cream? It is going to squish out down the sides of the bowl. I hope you get the picture. It is also true that the oil based cream can damage a condom and it is also true that vaginal yeast infections can be passed to male partners. Some men do not have much in the way of symptoms but some get itching and redness/irritation on the head of the penis. They can carry the yeast and with sexual contact, spread it back and forth reinfecting each other. So it is really best to avoid sex. It wont kill you not to have sex for a few days.
yea but when a man cums inside of you it goes back into the cervix, so why wouldn't the cream ya know? the reason I answerd the way I did, is because i know from experience. and it will cause pelvic irritation!
Sperm pass the cervix into the uterus but they are very small, microscopic. Not enough cream will get into the uterus. The cervix can be irritated by the yeast infection and the cream can cause burning to the cervix itself.
It was a logical conclusion just not quite correct. I wasnt meaning it to be insulting or to belittle you. You gave a very good answer!
So would it be ok for him to rub the clitoris? Can they still catch it that way? I mean I'm just curious if masturbation is ok but not inside the vagina just the clitoris?
well the reason it says do not have sex, is because a yeast infection is contagious to your partner, the male CAN get a yeast infection from you. it is different in the male, but also causes itching on the head of his penis and red irritation. I would also think it advises not to because if you have the cream inside you and you have sex, then that cream can go inside your cervix, and if it gets inside of your cervix that can cause for major problems I would assume. so as for me, I would wait till you are finished with your treatment. you don't want to give it to your partner, he will have to go to the doc, or yall will pass it back and forth everytime you have sex. hope this helps! :)
Thanks Jenniferrushing1980. This helps a lot!!
