Does anyone else (ladies preferably) have trouble sleeping after sex? And this even after taking whichever sleep med of choice BEFORE bed, hubby has even been reluctant so that I can sleep ... lol ... I told him don't not do it for that reason ... he-he ... just curious as to why this happens ... PS I have always been this way ... Not him .. he's out like a ROCK sometimes before I get back from the bathroom! ROFL ... :)

Hi Sandra,
Yeah, for the guys it seems they fall asleep right after. Just like today we did it in the middle of the day when our kids were at friends and he fell alsleep like a log and I got up and painted my nails. Funny eh?
Well at least your getting some good sex! Maybe you can get a nap in the day! Hee! Hee!
thanks :)
Hey Sandra, from another insomniac, you need some "down time" afterwards.. I have found that my best "sleeping pill" is not to watch TV, but to read a book afterwards, or any night when you need to settle down to go to sleep. It is a great relaxer!! I love my Kindle, I can get a million books for free!! Try the classics, or something boring might work even better, not a murder mystery, or a horror story before bed. You don't need anything to get your heart beating anymore than necessary!!
Best of luck to you!!
thanks msfino ... never thought about reading afterwards ... might have to stash a few books on the nightstand :)
thanks ms, I just won a pandigital e-reader this week ... so perhaps it will find a place on my nightstand ... post hubby! :)
Well congrats!!! Just don't read 50 Shades of Gray, it might keep you ( and hubby) up all night ;-)
Hi ms ... I actually purchased an e-book of that one ... I meant to click the free sample and accidentally purchased the whole thing ... lol I have read a bit of it ... not my cup of tea though .. lol ...
This is from THE hopeless insomniac,
I find that cuddling, with my head on his chest, listening to hearts beating, smelling him, possibly throwing one leg over him, is relaxing and allows me to drift off to sleep ... until his arm gets numb and he has to turn over. If he can extract his arm so as not to awaken me totally, keep on cuddling and then next thing I know ... it's light outside. Sleeping pills don't affect me at all, like taking a sugar pill.
This is my answer for how to sleep like I'm in a coma. Wake up in the same spot I drifted off.
So, I use this method of inducing sleep frequently.
Peace and Good Nights,
Hippie
Thanks Hippie ... used to put me to sleep like a rock, but very recently hubby has switched things up a bit ... for the better I might add ... lol ... instead of lots of "ahead time" ... I can go from zero to 80 in seconds ... amazing ... I asked him where in the world he found this out, after 21 years!! lol :)
Good for you...
Hip
he's an amazing man head to toe ... with six children (one was mine from a previous marriage), dairy farming ... he's a hard working guy and just a dream to be married to ... we hardly ever fight ... I can only remember one time in 21 years :) So he and I must be doing something right :)
I'm so glad we both chose well, so many marriages are disasters.
Hip
Definitely and I had one major disaster that I struggled through for 4 years ... he was an alcoholic, demanding jerk ... I'm very happy with the guy I have right now :) If only I could sleep! lol :)
I know I used to have trouble going to sleep after sex. Me and the guy I used to date for 11 years were either in a hotel making love or in his bedroom. Maybe you are just too wound up afterwards. Try cuddling after to "calm down." Maybe that will help. :) Typical man, tho. Out like a light. I'm just kidding, hun! He sounds like a good guy. Thanks for the comments :) if you look at my profile you'll find the run down of meds ... right now the doc wants me to stay with Rozarem and possibly see a sleep doc if it doesn't soon straighten out ... and I'm to re-start taking the Wellbutrin XL ... I did start it a few weeks ago but at the same time started taking Mobic for my tennis elbow ... and had severe stomach pains ... and I'm just not sure which one caused the stomach pain so I stopped both ... she feels it will help mellow me out as the day turns to night ... we'll see ... I was pushing her to give me some Restoril to have on hand but she doesn't really want to do yet another drug without talking to a sleep expert ... which I agree with ... for the most part ... now if I can just sleep! lol ... Sex used to put me out like a rock ... but recently hubby has taken some suggestions to heart and changed a few things around ... and wow, ringing the bell doesn't say enough ... rofl ... maybe it's too much of a good thing? LOL ... wouldn't trade it though ... he-he ;)
oh and I asked the doc about this and she said "well do it in the morning" ... lol ...
This is very common. Sex is the equivelent of exercise and it is hard for some people to sleep if they have exercised close to bedtime plus, as kaismama states, it releases endorphines which can rev you up. It is very typical for males to be relaxed after orgasm and go to sleep and for us females, it tends to rev us up, especially if your man doesnt "ring the bell" but even if you do have a good orgasm it can have the effect of energizing you. Just another way that men and women can be very different.
Well isn't that the typical male reaction, lol? Sex releases endorphins, so they can rev you up for a short time, until they are out of your system.
