I'm 2.5 weeks into taking 25mg of sertraline and having a horrendous time. Each day I'm battling a range of side effects (nausea, loss of appetite, emotional, increased anxiety... ) and I'm wondering when it'll end?
When does the sertraline side effects go away?

Hi, I took this med for 2 days and called my doctor, he prescribed escitalopram for me. It's important to let them know what's up. The side effects will subside, it just take some time, for me 3wks but everyone is different. My understanding is 1 to 2 weeks, but let your doctor know, its a lot of antidepressants out here that Can help. Hang in there, it will get better, feel better.
Hi, Kereru!
Side effects often resolve within days to a couple of weeks. You should let your doctor know what's going on and get their advice. Perhaps a reduction in your dosage may help your metabolism adjust to the medication more smoothly? If your anxiety is severe they might prescribe a mild sedative to use temporarily until the sertraline kicks in.
Also, talk to your pharmacist who will probably be able to recommend some OTC remedies to help control some of your side effects.
Best regards and I hope you're feeling better quickly now.
Sorry to hear that you are suffering. It can take a while for side effects to dissipate. Keep an open line of communication with your doctor. Try other avenues to relax and feel better, yoga, go outside, exercise, spend time with friends and pets if you can. Eat healthy and try to get quality rest. These drugs can take time to regulate and adjust in our systems. Good luck.
