You may want to look up Aphthous Ulcers. I have them ever since I started taking Adderall. It can be a variety of factors and it takes several for the eruption to occur. Lack of sleep, dry mouth, trauma, oral dyskinesia (a side effect of some meds), Iron deficiency, Vitamin B-12 deficiency and numerous other factors. I get them now once every six weeks or so. They hurt, I can't eat, I have trouble swallowing and then they spontaneously go away after about 3-7 days.
This may also be thrush which leaves the mouth extremely sore and requires special medication.
I was recently put on Prednisone for inflammation of Crohn's Disease, Ive been taking 5 tablets daily for 10 days, & my mouth is very sore, & my tongue feels furry, & it's very painful while eating, I'm drinking lots of water, what can I use to ease the discomfort?
I use something called “Magic Mouthwash”. My doctors have been prescribing this prescription mouthwash for me for years. It is a combination of Nystatin, Lidocaine, and Milk of Magnesia. The pharmacist mixes this up in the right doses and you just swish it around over the sores in your mouth and you can either swallow it or spit it out. I usually just get a Q-tip and dip it in the mouthwash and I swab it over the sores. But sometimes I get a prescription for Fluconazole (it’s a pill for yeast infections). I usually just have to take 3 doses, one every other day. And then one of my doctors recommended using Milk of Magnesia and just swish it around the mouth several times a day for a few days. But you don’t have to swallow it, cause frankly if you swallow that much Milk of Magnesia you would have diarrhea. haha! I hope that one of these suggestions help.
Ruth yes it is possible but eighter way sounds like you should give the doctor a call and get something to help with them if there is that many and you can't get past it we used to mix some stuff to rinse with and help with the healing so you don't have to go through a long period of this ... that is what i would ..Chuck1957 medically retired pharmacy technician Cpht..oregon.
