Yes, unfortunately I had dizzy spells, headaches and fatigue and of course the pain and depression returned. I eventually just gave up trying to stop.
The symptoms you will experience have a name - it is called "SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome". You can look it up on the internet to see what you can expect.
Good luck.
BTW... I have been unemployed for 3 years and got my medication through the help of Lilly. There are many medication assistance program that will help you expensive meds like Seroquel and Cymbalta for little or nothing.
I am in the process of weaning off Cymbalta (taking it for Fibromyalgia). I went from a regular dosage of 2 pills a day to 1 pill a day for 2 weeks, and yesterday just started the last phase of 1 pill every other day for 2 weeks. When I first dropped to 1 pill a day, I felt extreme light-headedness for about 4 days especially in the morning and early afternoon then it went away after about 4 days. Now that I started the last phase, the extreme light-headedness is back - it's especially bad when I change positions and I don't dare drive when it's happening. Has anyone else experienced the same?
Hello dparson's. Cymbalta is not an easy drug to stop taking. Taper as you yourself suggested. Side effects, hostility, anxiety, insomnia are common side effects when stopping the drug. Regards pledge
If you wean off correctly you shouldn't have any withdrawal. If you were taking it for depression, you will be depressed again. Have you tried effexor? That comes in generic. Also have you tried to get help from Lilly to pay for the cymbalta? They have an assistance program. Their web site is www.lillytruassist.com/Pages/index.aspx and phone number is 1-855-LLY-TRUE (559-8783)
This is not true. Most people coming of Cymbalta have terrible withdrawal symptoms, I have tried 3 times to come off and ended up going back on it
